    Tribe were really trying to make the point that their sound is still very relevant to this day. If they were to venture out too much, fans would be asking for more releases. They just came back into form on this record as a pleasant goodbye to the fans.

    Ali Shaheed doesn't rap, the music stopping on"lost somebody" is called having moment of silence out of respect for Phife. And to say the first song was like vivrant thing, with some of the other crazy things you said in this review is nuts. But as you said everyone has their opinion.

      Viv Lara they clearly know next to nothing about tribe, which made their criticism tough to stomach

    A very detailed album review of one of the greatest hip hop groups. You guys did a great job breaking this album down. Keep up the great work!

    However I totally agree with your comments on the album being just one disc with maybe 12 song instead of 16. There were 3 or 4 songs that I personally could have been left off although I disagree with you on the 4,

    Q-tip is the producer and master of the beats. Has been for the first three albums, then him and Dilla. Check your facts!

      Mark Smith he said Ali Shaheed made the beats lol. they were factually wrong in so many
      places it was frustrating

      The Brighter Light Podcast He does the majority of the production. He has said he doesn't take full credit and always list as "A Tribe Called Quest". Yes Shaheed does contribute, but Q-tip is the mind behind. Check out his Red Bull Music Academy lecture, then you'll really know. Also, look tup he "We got it from here" album credits, producted by Q-Tip. Shaheed is a decent bass player, but Tip plays bass throughout the new album go figure. He is a control freak though, so Shaheed's role is minimal at best.

    I thought the album title was in tune with the presidential election that weaves in and out of the album. I think Phife was referring to Obama with the name of the album.

    This is why Im glad opinions are like assholes everyone has one I haven heard the album but is the 1st types of criticism about this album I heard even Rolling Stone love it everyone calling it album of year or classic . Jabori is rapping Ali Sheed not sure but Qtip produce the album also done in Q tip studio 2. Cons has a dope only album on Good Music label I disagree DeLa is Dope . I agree Kayne needs Rhymefest and Cons back me I wanted Mos Def on this album but me I have to wait Nov 18 for Cd version but I will like it .

      @GamesMusicLyfe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kind of early to call it a classic, but it was a good album.
      Remember, this is just our opinion!

      First Hip Hop Group to take an 18 year break and produce a number 1 CD. This is a ground breaking moment for Hip Hop Never done before. However I want to thank you brothers for providing us with this review show.

      Powdered Floor this was our reactions after literally one day with the project. since then I have grown to actually really enjoy the project more. For a group to usher in a sound the way they did and it still sound new but still hold that Tribe sound speaks volumes. lol keV and I both grew up in the barbershop so we know how it gets but give us some slack, it was just an opinion. Either way, we appreciate your feedback and love the back and forth. It's all love.

    The review on this album is totally off base. Great album but your assessment on the album being condensed down was just blasphemous.

      Appreciate you stopping by and checking out our video. Like we said on previous posts, this video was made literally after only having the project for about 24 hours. We both came around to love it more then the initial couple listens. 0-100 , what did you rate it?

      Eion Lovejoy Album was good but there are a few skippable tracks for me. I can understand why tribe fans would love the album though since they gave you that old school hip hop feeling back, but as an unbiased listener the album had some weak spots in my opinion.

      Thank you for your insightful review and response. I honestly feel like this was probably one of the more difficult albums to review in recent memory. You have your memories of great tribe albums that seem to be very cherished rightfully so. You can't help but compare this album to those in some type of way which I believe did this album a unfortunate disservice.I think this was a forward thinking album with a foot in the past. I'm not going to claim that this album was perfect by any means there were some hiccups but I believe minor ones. I think that this was the best that we were going to get from them at this point and I think it was damn good albeit the minor issues which involved some "over production" which made it a little overblown at times. The problem with dropping multiple classic albums is that you're always compared to your previous work which is almost next to impossible to equal or top. From 0-100 I give this album a strong 90. This gentlemen was the best we were going to get from them at this point in their career.
