Deus ex machinas originated in ancient plays, usually involving a god coming down to resolve the plot so nanao having a weapon that can kill gods fits in pretty well with Shunsuis bankai being about a play. One the one hand that's pretty clever on the other not everyone has that bit of knowledge so it's understandable to not like how the situation is resolved.
Yeah, the phrase literally means God Mechine and refers to the cranes the Greeks would use to lower a statue of a god onto the stage I never thought of how that fits with Shunsui's play theme. That's really neat. Particularly since the Gods usually helped by giving the hero a special tool or weapon
I also wonder if the sword was what was used to separate the body parts of the soul king so that he could be sealed easier. Might also explain why their family is cursed. As for Gerard, Kubo stated that the way to properly kill him is to destroy his Quincy cross as it's the source of his regeneration.
Lille's form is rather polarizing among anime watchers and manga readers I find but I like it. The thing with angels in actual folklore is not all of them are just people with wings and holy powers granted by the Christian god. Many others are straight up beasts and are supposed to be ugly and frightening/perplexing to look at. I am not sure if you discuss the power scaling of his trumpet attack but I think that attack right there is the strongest attack we have seen in the anime so far :). The use of a trumpet as a weapon is a fun callback to Raphael/Israfil too as the announcement of the day of judgment in folklore.
I've been thinking about the fact that Lille was made out of light/intangible. I wonder if gravity would also have an effect on him? Cause we know gravity bends light based on what we can observe from black holes for example. I have to wonder if Kurohitsugi would have an effect on him then as well? I know anime physics does not work the way real physics does but I suspect Aizen would defeat him if the two were to fight. Even ignoring his zanpakuto ability and likely overwhelming reiatsu advantage.
@ On the weaker clones sure. But they are not intangible or powerful the way the original is. Still it seems likely Aizen could have dealt with him. Perhaps it would have been a better way to write the scene than deus ex machena. Hard to say cause I also like how Kubo at least made side characters relevant and he tells a good story. I personally think there are strengths and weaknesses to both directions.
Gravity shouldn't affect him. When he's intangible, it's because of his ability to make everything penetrate him. Any gravitational force should also phase right through him. But, at the same time, he was able to be seen and cast a shadow, so IDK

Looking back, Shunsui and Ukitake stole a ceremonial regalia to use against the Sokyoku (which is a phoenix). So this is actually not even the first time he's supported someone using important treasures to something that can't be traditionally killed.

The Senjumaru bankai had already sealed Lille barro's fate and hinted how he gets defeated by 8 mirrors that reflected his shot, Shinken Hakkyoken means eight-mirror sword (specifically holy), on top of that the Ise family is based on the Ise shrine which is an shinto religion dedicated to the solar goddess Amaterasu and the sacred mirror is the holiest of holy parts inside the shrine and in general mirrors are covered so it doesn't attract evil spirits (you see the weapon in the anime is covered which is one give-away). So no this is not an deus ex machina, as that would be if something came out of nowhere with zero explanation or relation to it, but this has explanation in the flashback with the meaning behind it + the Senjumaru bankai forshadowing which was new in the anime. People may claim its BS or so but its clearly evident and follows it to its logical conclusion, its not the first time we have seen "brokenly strong" shikai, although this one is a one-trick pony, as it seems to only work on specifically "god entities" and even then there are ways around it to attack Nanao (its basically just a reflect weapon).

Technically speaking we can probably name worse ones within bleach, but for how screwed Shunsui was, and how unstoppable lille was, and this being an end of series fight where the bankai just failed, it's really bad. And then it's never used again, bad move by the head captain not to order her to go kill yhwach and support ichigo.

The sword would reflect any god’s power, not literal light. Nanao couldn’t see any light shining being reflected, but Lille did. It would reflect ascended Aizen or any Soul King adjacent character.
I didn't have an issue with Tsukishima surviving the Senbonzakura wound (briefly), he was able to move around sure but he still died very very shortly after. plus with CFYOW confirming that fullbringers have soul king pieces inside of them, sure, they can walk without a spine (briefly)

Splitting off a piece of herself makes sense given her visual design. Ohana wears an eyepatch on her right eye. Okyo's face is covered entirely except her right eye. Seems obvious Okyo is Ohana's right eye.
20:50 small correction, Shunsui's Zanpakuto was sealed, so he wasn't using the shadows to escape Lille's attacks, The shadow realm they're in here is the space where he hid Nanao's Zanpakuto, he says "Okyeo" for Kotutsu to wake up right before Lille's beam hit them, he can access this space without the need to use his shikai.

Lille's name is of Spanish origin. I haven't heard of that name outside of Bleach (although I'm pretty sure it's Spanish because he called Shunsui's game as "chocolate Ingles"). In some Spanish speaking countries, the double "L" is pronounced like a "J", but sometimes it's pronounced as a "Y". It just depends on where you're from and your accent.

Also yeah people have always just said Ohana just split her powers but she clearly has a younger twin tail form for Shikai from the previous episode so the second Zanpakuto spirit couldn’t be the shikai form, so she’s definitely a different being so yeah, she could’ve split her soul, or her and Shunsui could’ve made her, and as part of Shunsui’s character being his love and dedication to his family, having a Zanpakuto family does make sense.

25:20 - 25:54 The way I see the whole Shinken Hakkyoken being Kyokotsu thing goes with the whole "Power in Names". Similar to how Zangetsu's apperance/form changes when being called Tensa Zangetsu, or how Nozarashi gets a shinigami form & powers when called Yachiru. Whats happening here is what I believe is the same thing with Yumichika's Ruri'iro Kujaku & Tokinada Tsunayashiro with Enrakyoten. Both of these Zanpakutos have different abilities when called by a different name. Ruri'iro Kujaku is kido-based that absorbs Reiatsu, but when Yumichika names it Fuji Kujaku it becomes melee-based. Enrakyoten can copy/mimic other zanpakuto powers, but when Tokinada calls it Kuten-Kyokoku its ability becomes reflecting attacks. With this in mind, I think what Shunsui's doing is when he is wielding Shinken Hakkyoken & calls out his zanpakuto's name, Shinken Hakkyoken is forced to take on the apperance/power of Katen Kyokotsu. When this happens a piece of Katen is removed & placed into Shinken Hakkyoken to become Kyokotsu; the reason for Katen having the eye patch.

Yes, you can hear Lille last scream while he transforms into this new thing. And also the colour of his wings changed which probably means that his Reitsu changed. And he never refers to himself as a Quincy, Lille or the Leader of the Sternritter. He is now God’s messenger.
For the record, Lille is the name of a city in France. Edit: also about Kyokotsu, I think the implication is that Katen took out her eye and it became Kyokotsu. Edit 2: (I'm making these as I watch) I just realized the Quincy made more damage to the Warhwelt than the people they are supposed to defend it from.
Speaking of where the Ise name was referenced on, Shinken Hakkyoken(Sacred Eight mirror Blade) was basically based on the treasure that was being kept in the Ise Shrine which is the Yata no Kagami (Eight span Mirror) that is said to be the mirror made for the God Amaterasu. Regardless of whether people think that as Deus Ex Machina. The Ise Family zanpakuto will end up being themed around a divine mirror.
Kubo gave an answer to how the Gotei 13 _could_ have killed Gerard: According to Q&A #475 by Tite Kubo on his fansite "Klub Outside", when Gerard was bifuricated by Kenpachi Zaraki, the Quincy Zeichen that manifested to revive him was Gerard's "core", and had Zaraki "been capable" of destroying it, then Gerard would have been defeated for good.
Seems like he created Hisagi's bankai to be a counter to gerard. Hopefully it happen inthe anime, they shrink him down a bit and then someone can crack the pentagram.

Hoping that they add more stuff about the reio in cour 4 and this zanpakuto, it would be way better if it turns out to be a relic from the past that used to severe reio's limbs, giving this reveal some solid plot points and not just another deus ex machina.
You know what really got me with this episode? The way Lille's eyes kept rapidly blinking asynchronously. I kind of wish they directly called Shunsui Nanao's uncle because I didn’t catch that when I read this chapter until later.

How I interpreted katen kyokotsu splitting is as follows. It was always “katen kyokotsu” it got divided into “katen” and “kyokotsu” The reason katen’s eye is gone is because she had to take it out to create kyokotsu creating a second asauchi. It’s like dual zanpakuto aren’t just something that happens. However any zanpakuto can split but there has to be a good reason for it because it’s effectively dismembering your zanpakuto. They lose a part of their body to make a new soul
Sugimoto from Golden Kamuy keeps screaming he is immortal as a battle cry and he actually don't die. And for additional context he don't have actual immortality, he just keeps surviving by the end.
Crazy how long Kubo set up this backstory for in the manga data on the captains and even the anime filler. People who think the personality change is strange: You can hear Lille’s screaming while the transformation happens. His Reitsu changes to gold from Green. Since Shinken Hakkyoken seems to be inspired by Yata no Kagami in Ise Shrine, I tried to search for the idea behind the silver arrow. Apparently in the book of psalm there's a verse that says, "For you, O God, have tested us; you have refined us as silver is refined.". I wonder if that's how Kubo came up with Aushwahlen and the silver. Still deus ex machina, but at least we know there's a basis for both.
Hear me out. I think Lille Barro was once an espada, or at least an Arrancar who was converted to a full Quincy. Let me explain why I think this: Lets first dive into the game he mentions: Chocolate Ingles (pronounced Choh-coh-lah-teh een-glehs). After doing some research, this particular game is actually a game played in spanish cultures in the world, if I'm not mistaken it comes from Spain. As he states, it's similar to Shunsui's bodhidarma-san game. Second, his name in and of itself. This one is a bit tricky, but basically the anime in both English and Japanese sources pronounce it as Lee-yeh. There is a German version of this name, and it's pronounced Lee-YUH. The last name looks to be Spanish in nature, and pronounced with a rolling r, as is common for words with double Rs. Then there is the topic of his chicken form. Ziliel's first form and second form is very reminiscent of a resurreccion. Most of the Quincies Holy Forms don't really change their physical form, per se, more so it just gives them a different look with Reishi patterns on or near the body, giving them a halo, wings, and other patterns (if any). Not only did Lille showcase this typical Volstandig (pronounced for-stain-deech) phenomena, but took it a step further with his 2x transformation. This can also be argued with Gerard and Pernida, however the difference with those 2 are: - For Pernida's case: he doesn't really "transform", he just grows in size and can split into multiples. His form has always been an arm. - For Gerard's case: his form change is tied directly to his Schrift's ability, M The Miracle. It only changes when his limbs are cut off in battle, being replaced with a bigger and stronger version of said missing limb. - In general: Both Pernida and Gerard, if I'm not mistaken, do not have a unique name for their different states. Lille does, which is Ziliel.
If you like owls then look up "Great Eared Night Jar". They look like a snake/dragon crossed with an owl. One of my favorite birds, and if I recall they are cousins to the Potoo.

@StevenWays i didn't make it up, Hisagi's Bankai is a good counter to Gerad's Merical. It's been a theory in the community that Hisagi's bankai was supposed to be used during that fight, but was scraped due to declining health.
@@elysainempire4628 As soon as I learned it was a "team bankai" I had the same thought it was probably created for the gerard fight and will be used during it. Also his Shikai can heal the shot he took from the X-axis, everything fits together too perfectly for it to not have been planned on gerard and drain his power. These fanaddicts will love it of course because anything that happens is perfect, but when you and I theorize or talk about what we want to have happen it's blasphemy.
Trying to explain the Blade from the Ise family to my roommate and it's abilities I came to the conclusion. "Imagine if someone here in America wrote a comic and it was about a super soldier serum that gave you the powers equivalent to Chuck Norris. Everyone here in the united states would get it, but a lot of people in other countries would be really confused looking up his fights from movies and then wondering why the charecters in the comics can benchpress continents. The diamond shaped mirror is probably a thing in Japanese culture and the best explanation you're going to get is in this episode. But Ukitake had 2 cuz he had the soul arm in him, Shunsei has 2 because he had the other sword, and the 69 tattoo guy has 2 but that's because it's true form is a chain. I will not denny that it is a deus ex machina.. BUT i'll be that deus's advocate and defend a little bit of it on the anime: The anime gave a tiny little bit of a foreshadowing with shutara's bankai. Where Lilie's fate is tailored as him being killed by his own shots from 8 mirrors. And that sword isnt fit for defeating just him, it doesnt counter merely light based enemies. It reflects the power of any god. Meaning it could, if Nanao were skilled enough, be used to fight gerard, pernida, even Yhwach or the fking soul king himself. Hence the term "power of a god" led many, including me, to the theory that shinken hakyouken was the sword used to dismember the soul king in the past. And the nouble houses intrusted the Ise clan to guard that sword for just in case some day the soul king rebels against them. ...still a deus ex machina pulled outta nowhere, yeah

Shinken Hakioken is a Deus ex machina,but they did try to retcon it a bit During CFYOW Tokinada steals Enrakyoten ,a royal zanpakuto that can use the powers of every zanpakuto that the user knows ,later it is revealed that the true power is to use the power of every weapon that takes the form of a sword/blade AND that the sword of the soul king was also split and the parts were used to forge various royal weapons that were given to royal families to guard Which implies that Shinken Hakioken is also one of them As well as the fact that all of them have a drawback.. a curse in order to balance the power ,for Enrakyoten it's that it drains the reiatsu of the user and for Shinken Hakioken given that priestess generally are bound by chastity they can't have families,but you also need offspring so thus the males have to die And given that the true power of Enrakyoten is different it might imply that it's true power is to channel the power of the soul king .. every Quincy has the power of yhwach thus the soul kings ... Meaning that it could be used to counter every basic Quincy power 🤔

Deus ex machinas originated in ancient plays, usually involving a god coming down to resolve the plot so nanao having a weapon that can kill gods fits in pretty well with Shunsuis bankai being about a play. One the one hand that's pretty clever on the other not everyone has that bit of knowledge so it's understandable to not like how the situation is resolved.

Lille's form is rather polarizing among anime watchers and manga readers I find but I like it. The thing with angels in actual folklore is not all of them are just people with wings and holy powers granted by the Christian god. Many others are straight up beasts and are supposed to be ugly and frightening/perplexing to look at. I am not sure if you discuss the power scaling of his trumpet attack but I think that attack right there is the strongest attack we have seen in the anime so far :). The use of a trumpet as a weapon is a fun callback to Raphael/Israfil too as the announcement of the day of judgment in folklore.

I've been thinking about the fact that Lille was made out of light/intangible. I wonder if gravity would also have an effect on him? Cause we know gravity bends light based on what we can observe from black holes for example. I have to wonder if Kurohitsugi would have an effect on him then as well? I know anime physics does not work the way real physics does but I suspect Aizen would defeat him if the two were to fight. Even ignoring his zanpakuto ability and likely overwhelming reiatsu advantage.

Gravity shouldn't affect him. When he's intangible, it's because of his ability to make everything penetrate him. Any gravitational force should also phase right through him. But, at the same time, he was able to be seen and cast a shadow, so IDK

Looking back, Shunsui and Ukitake stole a ceremonial regalia to use against the Sokyoku (which is a phoenix).

The Senjumaru bankai had already sealed Lille barro's fate and hinted how he gets defeated by 8 mirrors that reflected his shot, Shinken Hakkyoken means eight-mirror sword (specifically holy), on top of that the Ise family is based on the Ise shrine which is an shinto religion dedicated to the solar goddess Amaterasu and the sacred mirror is the holiest of holy parts inside the shrine and in general mirrors are covered so it doesn't attract evil spirits (you see the weapon in the anime is covered which is one give-away). So no this is not an deus ex machina, as that would be if something came out of nowhere with zero explanation or relation to it, but this has explanation in the flashback with the meaning behind it + the Senjumaru bankai forshadowing which was new in the anime. People may claim its BS or so but its clearly evident and follows it to its logical conclusion, its not the first time we have seen "brokenly strong" shikai, although this one is a one-trick pony, as it seems to only work on specifically "god entities" and even then there are ways around it to attack Nanao (its basically just a reflect weapon).

Technically speaking we can probably name worse ones within bleach, but for how screwed Shunsui was, and how unstoppable lille was, and this being an end of series fight where the bankai just failed, it's really bad. The sword would reflect any god’s power, not literal light. Nanao couldn’t see any light shining being reflected, but Lille did. It would reflect ascended Aizen or any Soul King adjacent character.

I didn't have an issue with Tsukishima surviving the Senbonzakura wound (briefly), he was able to move around sure but he still died very very shortly after. plus with CFYOW confirming that fullbringers have soul king pieces inside of them, sure, they can walk without a spine (briefly)

Splitting off a piece of herself makes sense given her visual design. Ohana wears an eyepatch on her right eye. Okyo's face is covered entirely except her right eye. Seems obvious Okyo is Ohana's right eye.

The shadow realm they're in here is the space where he hid Nanao's Zanpakuto, he says "Okyeo" for Kotutsu to wake up right before Lille's beam hit them, he can access this space without the need to use his shikai.
They were hiding in Lillie's own shadow, the Zan was hidden inside the Zan's head.

Lille's name is of Spanish origin. I haven't heard of that name outside of Bleach (although I'm pretty sure it's Spanish because he called Shunsui's game as "chocolate Ingles"). In some Spanish speaking countries, the double "L" is pronounced like a "J", but sometimes it's pronounced as a "Y". It just depends on where you're from and your accent.

Also yeah people have always just said Ohana just split her powers but she clearly has a younger twin tail form for Shikai from the previous episode so the second Zanpakuto spirit couldn’t be the shikai form, so she’s definitely a different being so yeah, she could’ve split her soul, or her and Shunsui could’ve made her, and as part of Shunsui’s character being his love and dedication to his family, having a Zanpakuto family does make sense.

Similar to how Zangetsu's apperance/form changes when being called Tensa Zangetsu, or how Nozarashi gets a shinigami form & powers when called Yachiru.
Whats happening here is what I believe is the same thing with Yumichika's Ruri'iro Kujaku & Tokinada Tsunayashiro with Enrakyoten. Both of these Zanpakutos have different abilities when called by a different name. Ruri'iro Kujaku is kido-based that absorbs Reiatsu, but when Yumichika names it Fuji Kujaku it becomes melee-based. Enrakyoten can copy/mimic other zanpakuto powers, but when Tokinada calls it Kuten-Kyokoku its ability becomes reflecting attacks.
With this in mind, I think what Shunsui's doing is when he is wielding Shinken Hakkyoken & calls out his zanpakuto's name, Shinken Hakkyoken is forced to take on the apperance/power of Katen Kyokotsu. When this happens a piece of Katen is removed & placed into Shinken Hakkyoken to become Kyokotsu; the reason for Katen having the eye patch.

Speaking of where the Ise name was referenced on, Shinken Hakkyoken(Sacred Eight mirror Blade) was basically based on the treasure that was being kept in the Ise Shrine which is the Yata no Kagami (Eight span Mirror) that is said to be the mirror made for the God Amaterasu.

Kubo gave an answer to how the Gotei 13 _could_ have killed Gerard: According to Q&A #475 by Tite Kubo on his fansite "Klub Outside", when Gerard was bifuricated by Kenpachi Zaraki, the Quincy Zeichen that manifested to revive him was Gerard's "core", and had Zaraki "been capable" of destroying it, then Gerard would have been defeated for good.
Seems like he created Hisagi's bankai to be a counter to gerard. Hopefully it happen inthe anime, they shrink him down a bit and then someone can crack the pentagram.

Hoping that they add more stuff about the reio in cour 4 and this zanpakuto, it would be way better if it turns out to be a relic from the past that used to severe reio's limbs, giving this reveal some solid plot points and not just another deus ex machina.
You know what really got me with this episode? The way Lille's eyes kept rapidly blinking asynchronously. I kind of wish they directly called Shunsui Nanao's uncle because I didn’t catch that when I read this chapter until later.

The introduction of nanoa's zanpakto was well done in the manga and its wll done now . That paddle being the perfect counter to lille was a good way to set up character development and make bleach lores better.

How I interpreted katen kyokotsu splitting is as follows.
It was always “katen kyokotsu” it got divided into “katen” and “kyokotsu”
The reason katen’s eye is gone is because she had to take it out to create kyokotsu creating a second asauchi.
It’s like dual zanpakuto aren’t just something that happens. However any zanpakuto can split but there has to be a good reason for it because it’s effectively dismembering your zanpakuto. They lose a part of their body to make a new soul

Squad 10, 7, 4 or 13 seam alright. Squad 10 seems mundane even with Ishin as captain all you got to do is avoid mastumoto due to drinking habit.
Crazy how long Kubo set up this backstory for in the manga data on the captains and even the anime filler. People don't give bleach enough credit for all the foreshadowing it does until tybw where many of it was paid off in full from the shinigami arc to now.

Since Shinken Hakkyoken seems to be inspired by Yata no Kagami in Ise Shrine, I tried to search for the idea behind the silver arrow. Apparently in the book of psalm there's a verse that says, "For you, O God, have tested us; you have refined us as silver is refined.". I wonder if that's how Kubo came up with Aushwahlen and the silver. Still deus ex machina, but at least we know there's a basis for both.

Then there is the topic of his chicken form. Ziliel's first form and second form is very reminiscent of a resurreccion. Most of the Quincies Holy Forms don't really change their physical form, per se, more so it just gives them a different look with Reishi patterns on or near the body, giving them a halo, wings, and other patterns (if any). Not only did Lille showcase this typical Volstandig (pronounced for-stain-deech) phenomena, but took it a step further with his 2x transformation.
This can also be argued with Gerard and Pernida, however the difference with those 2 are:
- For Pernida's case: he doesn't really "transform", he just grows in size and can split into multiples. His form has always been an arm.
- For Gerard's case: his form change is tied directly to his Schrift's ability, M The Miracle. It only changes when his limbs are cut off in battle, being replaced with a bigger and stronger version of said missing limb.
- In general: Both Pernida and Gerard, if I'm not mistaken, do not have a unique name for their different states. Lille does, which is Ziliel.

I would just prefer to chill in squad 4. Hard work yes, but every squad is either hard work, power, or talent. I don’t think I’d have either power or talent compared to the rest. Squad 4 sounds more doable.
well actually Hisagai's Bankai is better, and was most likey the plan, but Kubo's health took a nose dive so he had to scrap that idea.

@StevenWays i didn't make it up, Hisagi's Bankai is a good counter to Gerad's Merical. It's been a theory in the community that Hisagi's bankai was supposed to be used during that fight, but was scraped due to declining health.
@@elysainempire4628 As soon as I learned it was a "team bankai" I had the same thought it was probably created for the gerard fight and will be used during it. Also his Shikai can heal the shot he took from the X-axis, everything fits together too perfectly for it to not have been planned on gerard and drain his power.
These fanaddicts will love it of course because anything that happens is perfect, but when you and I theorize or talk about what we want to have happen it's blasphemy.

Trying to explain the Blade from the Ise family to my roommate and it's abilities I came to the conclusion. "Imagine if someone here in America wrote a comic and it was about a super soldier serum that gave you the powers equivalent to Chuck Norris. Everyone here in the united states would get it, but a lot of people in other countries would be really confused looking up his fights from movies and then wondering why the charecters in the comics can benchpress continents. The diamond shaped mirror is probably a thing in Japanese culture and the best explanation you're going to get is in this episode. But Ukitake had 2 cuz he had the soul arm in him, Shunsei has 2 because he had the other sword, and the 69 tattoo guy has 2 but that's because it's true form is a chain. I will not denny that it is a deus ex machina.. BUT i'll be that deus's advocate and defend a little bit of it on the anime:
The anime gave a tiny little bit of a foreshadowing with shutara's bankai. Where Lilie's fate is tailored as him being killed by his own shots from 8 mirrors.
And that sword isnt fit for defeating just him, it doesnt counter merely light based enemies. It reflects the power of any god. Meaning it could, if Nanao were skilled enough, be used to fight gerard, pernida, even Yhwach or the fking soul king himself. Hence the term "power of a god" led many, including me, to the theory that shinken hakyouken was the sword used to dismember the soul king in the past. And the nouble houses intrusted the Ise clan to guard that sword for just in case some day the soul king rebels against them.

Also with Katen Kyokotsu who knows if it was always a duel blade but I like to think from the very start it was called Katen Kyokotsu and then when Shunsui more than likely got it on with Ohana and Okyo was born Ohana gave her the Kyokotsu part of her name and perhaps Okyo is now the spirt of Nanao sword and gave up the name Kyokotsu I don’t know haha

Shinken Hakioken is a Deus ex machina,but they did try to retcon it a bit
During CFYOW Tokinada steals Enrakyoten ,a royal zanpakuto that can use the powers of every zanpakuto that the user knows ,later it is revealed that the true power is to use the power of every weapon that takes the form of a sword/blade AND that the sword of the soul king was also split and the parts were used to forge various royal weapons that were given to royal families to guard
Which implies that Shinken Hakioken is also one of them
As well as the fact that all of them have a drawback.. a curse in order to balance the power ,for Enrakyoten it's that it drains the reiatsu of the user and for Shinken Hakioken given that priestess generally are bound by chastity they can't have families,but you also need offspring so thus the males have to die
And given that the true power of Enrakyoten is different it might imply that it's true power is to channel the power of the soul king .. every Quincy has the power of yhwach thus the soul kings ... Meaning that it could be used to counter every basic Quincy power 🤔
