Thanks Paul, the mechanic part is pretty easy for me but I’m still learning the film side of it. Thanks for you patience 😁

What grease did you use to pack the seal with? Also. Thanks for showing me how to do this with tools I have 😂. The last video I watched the guy was in a shop with a lift and loosened the brakes and used torque wrenches and all these gadgets. He also installed the seal before putting the playe back on. I like your way better. Thanks for the video dude! 🙌

Sorry I missed your question earlier. I just used normal axle grease I think it was called max red. Yeah I’d love to have a shop and lift but I’m mostly working in my driveway 😄

Wish you would've went just a bit slower with the actual rebuild, but I still learned a few things.

Sorry I’m a bit new to this you tube thing. I’ll try to keep that in mind in the future 👍

I've watched a few of these pinion seal vids and I'm still trying to figure out how you know how much to tighten that nut. Lining up marks doesn't tell you how much to tighten it because you could be one turn less or more. Did you measure how far down on the shaft it was? Are you wiggling it forward to back or rotating it to feel how tight to make it? I also saw in another vid to check for grooves on the flange and replace it because it might be the reason it's leaking.

Good question…. Yes I rotate the pinion as I tighten…. First you can feel the play in the pinion by moving it up and down…..once the play is gone you are getting close…. Then I start to rotate by hand while tightening while watching my marks…. You will feel very slight preload on the bearing… then you line up your marks…. Actually usually go a bit past, and your set.
The groove can cause a leak and you can get a seal with a speedy sleeve but in my experience it really needs to be a large groove before a new seal can’t fix it, remember it’s not under pressure like a rear main….the oil is just splashing around.

@@RangerShop1 Thanks...I'm paying my friend to put an ATK crate motor in my 2001 3.0 Mazda B3000 4x4. I've been helping him out when I have time. When we were getting the tranny bolted up it wasn't quite going on, there was about 3/4" gap between bell housing and motor. Long story short they ended up screwing up my flywheel because something wasn't seated correctly and they tightened the bolts to close the gap. Got a new flywheel coming today, but he also noticed the pinion was leaking a little oil, so looks like that's my next project soon as it's running. Hopefully nothing else is damaged from that flywheel problem.

@@badcrcz right on good to have handy friends to help out. Sorry about the flywheel it stinks when things go wrong like that…. Compared to an engine the pinion seal will seem like a breeze 👍😁
