Goes to show some vets don't do much to get to the bottom of the issue. Some vets just treat symptoms not the actual illness. As a groomer of 25yrs, I've witnessed diligent pet parents do everything possible to cure their pets when Vets are just not giving answers. It happens with human doctors too!! Some pet parents can't afford to save their babies. There's more to this story.

I’d like to hear the vet staffs perspective of the story- did they NOT want to let the old owner know that dog wasn’t eurhanized afterall on purpose for fear that the previous owner still would want to euthanize or something? What was their reasoning as to not contact her once they learned the dog did not have to be put down? Was it just the expenses that someone else was willing to pay for the dog

Standard practice. She didn't take him to a private vet...she surrendered him to Animal Services. At that point, she was no longer Beau's owner, and the vets weren't obligated to keep her informed of his care. That's why the shelter is treating Beau's case as abandonment
You could ask why she chose to surrender him, rather than find a vet that would let her stay with him in his final moments. But then he'd be dead, and we wouldn't be having this conversation. Either way, it doesn't look good from the shelter's perspective
I do feel for this woman, though :( She was just working with the best info she had

The thing is the vet told her there were no other otpions but euthanasia, that treatment wouldn't provide good quality of life and would instead cause failure to thrive. A vet telling you that often means the best humane thing is euthanasia, you want to believe the people who have the life of your pet in their hands wouldnt lie to you. So once she brings the pet down isnt allowed in for the euthanasia. Then they decided without telling her to do their own digging and realize pup can be cured. Despite her having to pay for a euthanasia which they only take card for, so that would be fraud. Then they send the pup back to the adoption center, wont dare call it a rescue, who also took tons of fees from her to adopt said pup again on card, so once again fraud, only to put it back up for an even bigger pay day. This was a backdoor deal between the euthanasia center and the adoption agency. No way it wasnt. They must be doing this to countless adopters in the area. Both get a pay day and pet owners go home empty handed. This needs to be investigated!!!!!!!!! Ive seen this happening before.

Got my girl from a nonprofit and they managed to save countless pets from a similar scheme and reunite them back with their owners, people not getting any pay, spending their own money on the animals, then spending their time tracking down every last owner to give them back their baby. Not enough groups like them. I would love to know more about the "rescue" to warn everyone I possibly can to steer clear

    • @Bella-qu5pf
      @Bella-qu5pf หลายเดือนก่อน

They use pets they know are sick pre adoption to leverage money out of adopters then both them and euthanasia centers get a payday. Very very common tactic. Common with sought after breeds and dogs that they know have an "appeal".

I put down a dog because I couldn't find her a home, she was aggressive and people say it's humane. The worst and most regrettable decision. Though if I found out some how someone adopted her I would be glad. I also wouldn't think the organization would give her back to me. Why give the dog back to someone that wasn't able to take care of it for ANY reason. From an organization stand point for that dog you aren't a stable home. It sounds like there's a part of the story that's been left out. Which is probably the cost for surgery for the dog. So I definitely wouldn't give it back if she couldn't have afforded the veterinary bills. I also suspect if surgery was an option that means it was treatable. So instead she chose to put down a treatable dog INSTEAD of returning it to the breed specific organization she got it from. No ma'am sorry boo

More than anything, this speaks to the declining quality of pet care in this country
She lost the dog because she was doing what her vet suggested, and -- for whatever reason -- chose not to prioritize Beau's peaceful passing by legally surrendering him (instead of finding a vet that would let her stay, as the shelter instructed). The cruel part of this is, if she'd done just that, the dog would be dead
I can't fault the shelter for not wanting to return the dog. But the dog is only alive because she surrendered him after being told he couldn't be saved. Just a sad story all around

There are some people, a small minority, in the dog world that are really off-putting in how much they feel they need to protect animals from owners who do things they personally disapprove of, or are somehow this higher authority that has the right to take pets away from people.

Watch other reporting on this and for those of you who are confused, here are the summery
Ms Pereira works at a rescue center and adopted a pup from a rescue center (Lost Dog and Cat rescue Maryland) and come home with the puppy, then after a few weeks the puppy is having movement and bowel issue and the owner brought him to the vet and the vet told the owner the pup might have neurological issues, after a few other vet visit they all offer the same advice and they told her the cost to find out what exactly is the cause of Beau condition would be huge and even if they found out what's causing the problem, there might be little to nothing they can do for him, and advice her to put Beau down.
The owner claim she resist to this and brought Beau home only to have her dog deteriorate in a few weeks' time, she visit the emergency vet care department in the county pound and the vet there also told her it may be neurological problem and it would cost $12000 (her claim) for any attempt to take care of Beau. She finally let go with the decision to surrender Beau to the pound when she consulted with the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue. And she wasn't in with the dog as the pound does not allow owner to watch the euthanisation of their pet. And she left for Texas after thinking Beau is euthanized.
She returns to Maryland for a family visit after a year and come back to check on the rescue center website and found Beau was cured and put on adoption. She inquired both the pound and rescue center and found out a vet at the pound later decided Beau can be saved and a gofundme have raise enough money to perform those surgeries and save Beau, since Pereira surrendered Beau (as you see in this video) They return Beau to the rescue center as an abandonment case, and the rescue center took Beau, now renamed back to Amos and nurse it back to health in that year, later when the owner ask to re-adopt Beau/Amos offering to pay off the medical cost, the center told her off and basically admonish her for abandoning Beau (According to the owner) and refused to let her readopt Beau.
    And you know the rest.

Why are you trying to peddle her story as fact? She refused to seek independent veterinary care, pay for further testing, and brought the dog back only AFTER she made the decision to move out of state. How convenient that it was the “health problems” and not her change in lifestyle.
Funny you left out that she paid $15 for the dog to be put down and walked away. If that dog meant anything to her she would not have paid the equivalent of a happy meal to see it die.

And $15 is surrendering fee, not to put it down, you don't get charge anything if you are doing it in a SPCA pound, which is what she has done in this case.
On the other hand, if she would just leave her dog out of her lifestyle, she would have just leave it at curb like most people would in that situation. The fact that she left it at a pound suggested that this is her last resort.
