- A lovely film shot by Peter Wilson of the 1960's Eastcote, It's unbelievable how busy the Eastcote high street used to be with its shoppers on Field End Road, I very much doubt that will be repeated again.
Don't forget to see my other Bygone videos and many thanks to Peter for allowing me to share his film :)
Wow I lived in Eastcote, Castleton Road, from c. 1949/50 to 1977 and still have fond memories. Worked in Television House in the 70's, used the Manor House and Clay Pidgeon in my teens and twenties, went to Field End Infannt and Juniour School, Bourne Secondary Modern - too many memories. Eastcote House say Shirley Bassey there God knows when, in the 60's. Ho Hum
Wonderful, I'm sad for what's gone now especially the lovely buildings like Eastcote House, Ascott House, Hayden Hall (the originals) and all the other places of interest deemed not worth saving by the local Council at the time. The walled garden, dovecote and stable building still remains at Eastcote House. Thank you for posting this.
Used to be a lovely place, spent a lot of time there as a kid in the 60’s.
Like most towns, it’s gone down hill now. Recent stabbings, and a murder in a bar, that saw a lot of news coverage.
I really miss the happier times.
BEAUTIFUL - BRING IT ALL BACK :-(
it's funny to see that Eastcote high street has always been very busy!
Beautiful video and music. Before my time, but still great to see.
2:36 the bike just left by the curb no one would even think of taking it
Still recognisable, lovely place. My parents live there
I grew up here as my closest town, 1946 onward till I left home. Wow, Eastcote House... & the Woodman at the bottom of Wiltshire lane, we lived on Fore St. John Bonehill 😎👌
Wow that's awesome thankyou!!❤
Great film and beautiful music. Thanks.
Filmed about 1960 / 63. Is the music by Dennis Quin or Medwin Goodhall? .Where is Eastcott?.
Hi Swampy,
Some great footage from my namesake.....
Do you have (or know anybody who has) any footage from Hillingdon in the 1950's/60's?
Regards,
Pete

Many Thanks, glad that you enjoyed it :)
Eastcote is in Middlesex not far from harrow and Watford.
It's far enough from Watford thankfully. Watford is now a dump as is Harrow.
Hi Swampy Vision, great to see Eastcote back in the day,.....do you have by any chance some footage of Ruislip 40,50,60's, my Dad had a hairdressers opp' the British Legion (church end of Ruislip, St Martins) would love to see it, he had it for forty years, sold it 78 Thank you...

I agree, but it's not going to happen :( Thanks for posting !
This is where I grew up in the 60s. Are you sure the film isn't the 50s?
From the look of the cars I would place this as very late 50s to very early 60s.
The world was such a nicer place back then ☹️
