Looks tasy, but as a Frenchman, I gotta say your pronunciation of Crème de mûre is... Well... You gotta work on it haha ! :) Cheers ! (or as we say in France : "Santé !", which means "Health" cause we all know alcohol is good for your health).
Hi Anders, I recently saw your interview with Leandro, in which you said that all of your regulars are now on TH-cam. Just wanted to say that I am happy to have become one of your regulars! Thank you for the great drinks, charisma, guidance, and positivity.
When I have made this drink, I start by muddling a few blackberries in the tin. I think it adds a freshness to the cocktail. This is a favorite summer drink at our house. Love your videos. Cheers!
I definitely like the Bees Knees, the Negroni, a Gin Rickey, the Pink Lady (which shares Gin and apple brandy as it's liquor), the intro to Aperol (which has a light pour of gin and Aperol is the main star), and the Aviation #1 (weird but great). That said, the Bramble beats all those drinks for me, but blackberries are one of my favorite fruits of all time so it has an unfair advantage. But if you're still looking for gin drinks definitely check some of those out if you haven't already.
You two are one of the all time great double acts. A real team. You complement each other so well. Oh, and the cocktails, presentation, info. All spot on. Delivered with charm warmth and sincerity. Thanks guys.
I make this a lot, but with fresh blackberries instead of berry liqueur. My wife and I prefer the fresh fruit taste over the sweet syrupy liqueur. I also do riffs with raspberries or strawberries. And I prefer Beefeaters because it has that slight lemon-citrusy taste. And I switch bourbon for gin from time to time. Finally, I sometimes throw in a sprig of mint or basil to muddle with the berries. All of these variations just bring out the summer tastes that we love so much
I started playing with cocktails at the bar I work at, and the bramble was the one of the first ones I found, it has been so insanely popular with our guests that it is now a permanent part of the menu. Although blackberry liqueur is nearly impossible the find (I live in rural Virginia) so I always substitute raspberry liqueur. It is definitely one of my favorite cocktails.
Yes yes yes yes!!!! I’m so glad you made this drink! This has been my favorite cocktail for years and I’ve introduced many people to it. They all have loved it!!
Anders, you have been a surprising part of my wife and I navigating the empty nest this year by diving into building cool classic cocktails and making all of your syrups. Thanks for opening up a great new hobby we can share! Cheers!
So this is great. I didn't have any blackberry syrup, but thought this recipe might work with the Cherry syrup that came with my luxardo cherries. And then I garnished it with cherries as well. It still turned out really good even with the small tweak. Thank you for the inspiration!
Hello Anders, thanks for the channel. As a novice to cocktails as opposed to just adding “stuff” to coke, I enjoy the depth and breadth of wisdom you have to offer. Including the bottle slide. 😊
Just did tonight the recipe, I'm a Gin's haters and now I love it with this Recipe. I put just a little bit less simple syrup. I tried one also with Strawberry balsamic shrub instead of Creme de mure, very good.
Love to see you covering this cocktail. I finally got a bottle of creme de mure about tow weeks ago. I have made so many brambles. I've been fascinated by it ever since my grandfather ordered one from a supper club in Sturgeon Bay. Never seen it on a menu in Wyoming though.
This sounds delicious! And as always Az is a delight to have on camera. Anders, I still want to see Az making the drink as you narrate and give instructions to her.
The bottle slide is BACK!!! Definitely missed seeing that! Recently I was wondering which Gin to use in a Bramble and you gave me a good idea with the Botanist 👌 Cheers guys!
You will be good as long as it's punchy enough to stand up to the creme de mure. I like using Tanqueray for it because it's a solid proof and is punchy.
When I'm trying out a cocktail recipe that doesn't spec anything more than "gin," I use The Botanist for my first attempt. That said, if you're selling drinks for a living and it's available to you, Empress 1908 indigo gin works pretty well here. It's a more floral, citrusy gin, reminiscent of summer to the nose, and the butterfly tea they infuse it with turns the gin bright pink when it reacts with the lemon juice, which turns a lot of heads and typically gets a few "I want to try one of those" orders, especially among women. It's a smaller distillery in Western Canada, so I'm not sure how widely it's available. I think it gets over-used in a lot of drinks simply because the colour is a gimmick, but the character actually fits with the Bramble pretty well.
Ok saw this video Thursday and had all the ingredients (substituting Chambord). I made two Friday night and entertaining last night cranked out 10 of these. HUGE hit in the hot muggy weather. Thanks!
I replaced the simple syrup with 1/4 oz of St Germain, the elderflower completely elevates the drink. For me this is a perfect combination. The taste of a sunny English summer. Based on other comments I’m now going to experiment with fresh muddled blackberries and less crème de mure
Been planning to make this for many months, finally made one tonight using thia build, exceedingly delicious and quite dangerously easy drinking. Love the channel.
Stoked to see that you featured the Bramble! Love this drink, love your channel. Thanks for your work and sharing the knowledge. And a belated congratulations to the both of you on your engagement!
Hey Anders, greetings from Turkey! Me and my gf are loving your videos and frankly you’ve been helping me facsinate her :) love your contents, keep smiling ☺️
Thanks for making this video. This has become one of my favorite drinks. I can’t find creme de mure locally so I made my own using a recipe from The Educated Barfly. The rich sweetness of the creme de mure balances the tartness of the gin and lemon juice so well. What a refreshing summer cocktail! Love your channel, thanks for all the instruction!
Just made up a new cocktail based on your Bramble. It’s a spin on the Fleur de Paradis, which uses Elderflower liqueur (St. Germaine) with grapefuit and lemon juices. I use the Chambord instead (which I bought for the first time to make the Bramble) and just lemon juice. 2 oz gin, 3/4 oz Chambord, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 1/2 oz simple syrup. Shake, and garnish with a blackberry or a raspberry. I call it the Frui de Paradis (Fruit of Paradise). Sooo good! And sooo pretty! A good alternative if you don’t want to bash a lot of crushed ice-my original reason. Thank you for your video which put me on to several wonderful things!
Not only have I never made a Bramble, I've never TASTED a Bramble and boy oh boy am I going to make one (or two) tonight! Another great episode. And congrats for adding a stairway to the cellar in your studio!
I have been watching this video over and over. And I finally got the spirits and made it for my family my first drink I made on my own from your channel and it was AMAZING ✨♥️ thank you 😊
I'm so glad you did this cocktail one of my favorites for summer, done it a couple of times, even made my own home made Creme de Mure.... was not great 😅 but the drink was. thank you for your recipes, I love them.
Mr Anders, one of my mentor onboard when i was still a rookie bartender way back mid 90’s that black berries should be muddled??? But overall all your videos helps me a lot, convinces me to be a good bartender and this will also be my guide on the history of the Classics, Thank You and Cheers!!!
I had no ingredients 3 months ago - complete newbie - I now have about 25 bottles of spirits & mixers so far. My Crème de Mure arrived today & I have fresh blackberries! Can’t wait to give it a go tonight - thanks Anders! 🍸💗
Another great video! Your videos make each Friday even better! I am so glad you highlighted this drink; I started making these about a year ago after reading an article about them. They are always a big hit at our parties because of the presentation and of course, how delicious they are! Keep up the great work, see you next week!
I've been trying to come up with a Buffalo NY theme cocktail for an upcoming tailgate. I settled on using Loganberries, which is a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry, and a quick search lead me to a Bramble. I then thought to look up to see if you had video for it because I love your variations and possible substitutions. The timing was perfect and I can't wait to make my version of this with loganberries soon.
Anders your videos are awesome. Today I bought some vermouth and campari for negronis and will have to add crème de mûre to try the Bramble, Thank you!
I love me a Bramble! Using these specs and the ho-made crème de mur from Leandro has been the highlight of many a get-together this summer. Thanks for another delightful Friday video!
Hey Anders, just wanted to say you are fantastic. I was a jack and coke, basic guy before your show. You have opened my taste up to so much more. The wife and I typically watch you on our TV so I don't take the time to comment, but this episode in particular, sparked my wife's interest in mixing a drink herself. And I must say, what a success! Keep up the good work and great content. And let's not forget Az! Even though her role on screen is typically the Angostura to your old fashioned, we all know she steals the show at times!
Had a great Bramble at La Posada Hotel in Winslow Az. Just a short walk from that famous corner. Forgot about it until I was looking through your videos. After crafting home made crème de mure I’m enjoying another. Thanks!
Love the video. When I spoke to people who also worked with Dick, I remember they always told me, that the drink was just build in glass, on crushed ice, which made it even quicker and awesome - especial on a crowded night or a busy house party
Wanted to make this tonight, but I was out of gin!!! Used mezcal and lime juice instead. Calling it a Burnt Bramble. I think it’s pretty tasty. Thanks for making me buy crème de mure!
Put 2 pints of washed fresh blackberries, a quarter lime, and 2oz dry red wine in a Mason jar, and cover with vodka. Let them soak for a week, remove the lime, and thoroughly muddle all the berry juices out. Strain, and sweeten with simple. Great substitute for creme de muir, because it's typically pretty tricky to find.
Nice video and great looking cocktail, Anders. I just bought a bottle of Giffard Crème de Mûre because I wanted to make a Bramble so this video is perfectly timed!
Look forward to the video every week and this delivered big! Great looking cocktail and the bottle slide.........So happy for its return!!! Congrats on another killer vid:)
Long time, no recipe. Try it - it's good!
My dad is not big on drinks but even he enjoys the Bramble which immediately makes it a 10/10 drink in my book.
I give it a 10/10 too - hard not to like such a tasty drink!
Looks tasy, but as a Frenchman, I gotta say your pronunciation of Crème de mûre is... Well... You gotta work on it haha ! :) Cheers ! (or as we say in France : "Santé !", which means "Health" cause we all know alcohol is good for your health).
I like how both the story it's origin and your motive for staying to his recipie are so wholesome.
May try it myself soon!
Crème de Mûre ????
like trying to find Bigfoot
Anybody know a source?
Hi Anders, I recently saw your interview with Leandro, in which you said that all of your regulars are now on TH-cam. Just wanted to say that I am happy to have become one of your regulars! Thank you for the great drinks, charisma, guidance, and positivity.
Thank you so much - I'm happy you're here! Cheers!
I'll definitely visit Ward Eight whenever I'm in Chicago, it's just I doubt I'll be across the pond anytime soon.
I think I am an irregulary. I haven't been to Chicago in years but never miss an episode of this!
I have to agree I love it when TH-cam’rs get together
This was the featured cocktail at our wedding in 2017. Best day of my life: love, smiles, singing, dancing, and brambles all around!
When I have made this drink, I start by muddling a few blackberries in the tin. I think it adds a freshness to the cocktail. This is a favorite summer drink at our house. Love your videos. Cheers!
Same. I rarely have Creme de Mur at home. So I either use blackberry syrup. Which is fine but frsh blackberries are the best.
This is by far the best cocktail channel on youtube, the knowledge and editing is spot on. Cheers Anders
On par with Kevin Koss for me
You have no idea how much I appreciate this! I've been struggling to find decent gin cocktails for months. Thanks for this.
Hope you love this one as much as I do - Cheers!
try the pegu club
I definitely like the Bees Knees, the Negroni, a Gin Rickey, the Pink Lady (which shares Gin and apple brandy as it's liquor), the intro to Aperol (which has a light pour of gin and Aperol is the main star), and the Aviation #1 (weird but great). Bramble is one of my absolute favorites. Sometimes a classic cocktail is one for a good reason
The pretending-to-walk-downstairs exit is always a classic! :)
That's summer in a glass, sounds excellent and presents beautifully! Cheers!
Anders I Love this drink. We had it last summer and today it’s 75 on Long Island! With a Bramble it’s heaven.
One of my favorite drinks in the summer
Loved the video. Felt like a throw-back to you early videos, bottle slide and all! Keep it up.
10 of 10 drink. 10 of 10 Anders.
I love brambles. I have a riff on the bramble that is by far the best cocktail I have ever come up with.
I just made my own creme de mure from the blackberries in our backyard and this is the first cocktail im going to be making with it!
Best cocktail channel! Very fun to watch but not filled with gimmicks or click bait.
Thank you for including Dad in your wonderful videos! Such kind words. X
Your dad is a legend! Thanks for the comment. Happy you enjoyed the video!
I love Bramble so much so I'm glad you finally you got it!
Favorite cocktail channel…thank you for all the efforts you put in to create exceptional content!

My kind of pink cocktail, love it!
Looks tasty! I didn’t know you had steps behind the bar…😉 Happy Friday!
Just did tonight the recipe, I'm a Gin's haters and now I love it with this Recipe. I put just a little bit less simple syrup. I tried one also with Strawberry balsamic shrub instead of Creme de mure, very good.
Glad you brought back the bottle-slide!
Thanks so much for the chambourd substitution! I have a bottle and always like using it. Will try it tonight at a dinner party! Thanks!
Sturgeon Bay?! Not far from where I grew up! Do you remember the name of the super club?
YES!!! I've been waiting for you to do the classic bramble. Awesome cocktail.
I really love your channel. Thank you Anders.
This sounds delicious! And as always Az is a delight to have on camera. Anders, I still want to see Az making the drink as you narrate and give instructions to her.
one of my favourite cocktails🍸
The bottle slide is BACK!!! Definitely missed seeing that! Recently I was wondering which Gin to use in a Bramble and you gave me a good idea with the Botanist 👌 Cheers guys!

I appreciate this channel. I’m 100% mixing this tonight, with some fresh blackberries from the back yard. Many thanks!
I noticed that you used an instrumental version of "Be my Remedy" in the intro.
What a man of culture.
This channel has helped me enjoy Gin (the martinez is fantastic). I thank you for it!
its gorgeous! Can't wait to try this one out!
Nice! Just made this with 'creme de cassis' instead of mure. It's lovely 😋

Thanks so much! It's always nice to find a new gin cocktail

omg! the bottle slide! You listened to me! Thanks :D
I love everything Combier makes. The orange is the best triple sec. Hands down.

Y'all are AWESOME!!!
Watching your videos makes me want to prepare and mix and drinks cocktails! Amazing content Anders
My wife hates gin... but im still making this for her.. i bet she will love it lol- Thanks as always! Cheers!

So this is right up my alley. Lemon, gin, and fruit. I will make this if I ever find the Combier Crème de Mûre.
Yum this sounds delicious !!!!
Anders your videos are awesome. Today I bought some vermouth and campari for negronis and will have to add crème de mûre to try the Bramble, Thank you!
I've asked for this drink across three different states and no one knows how to make it!! Hopefully they someday see this video

I love gin. Tonight I’m drinking a French 75 but will give this a try sometime. Looks cold and refreshing.
Had a great Bramble at La Posada Hotel in Winslow Az. Just a short walk from that famous corner. Forgot about it until I was looking through your videos. After crafting home made crème de mure I’m enjoying another. Thanks!
Sweet. Did not know how to use the black berries from the garden this year but went for a elderflower tonic, garnished with bb's and Gin. Fresh, good.
This might make me start drinking gin again. Thanks for broadening my tastes.
Love the video. When I spoke to people who also worked with Dick, I remember they always told me, that the drink was just build in glass, on crushed ice, which made it even quicker and awesome - especial on a crowded night or a busy house party
Hallo nach Hamburg!
I made my own creme de mure (thanks to Educated Barfly) and the Bramble is now my wife's favorite cocktail.
Just tried this and absolutely love it! Thanks for the new (old school) cocktail ☺️
Wanted to make this tonight, but I was out of gin!!! Used mezcal and lime juice instead. Calling it a Burnt Bramble. I think it’s pretty tasty. Thanks for making me buy crème de mure!
Love Brambles. My go to summer sipper. I make my own blackberry liqueur, and the fresh blackberry flavor steps up the overall drink.
Put 2 pints of washed fresh blackberries, a quarter lime, and 2oz dry red wine in a Mason jar, and cover with vodka. Let them soak for a week, remove the lime, and thoroughly muddle all the berry juices out. Strain, and sweeten with simple. Good to see the bottle slide back! I know I missed it, just not how much I missed it...
Nice video and great looking cocktail, Anders.
I just bought a bottle of Giffard Crème de Mûre because I wanted to make a Bramble so this video is perfectly timed!
That’s so easy. Thank you 👏
Making this tonight for dinner. Not for dinner, we will eat regular food but we'll make this to go with dinner. Thanks!
Great video,..u and az a awesome team,.her " cellar stairs " performance very well,..clean executed,.,.👊😂👏👏😉😆😆
This is easily my favorite gin drink. There's just something about the blackberry liqueur. Delicious!
Finally! My absolute favorite cocktail. Thank you Anders!
You've got great taste! Cheers!
Jungle Bird, Planter's Punch, Hemingway Daiquiri and Homemade Liqueurs
Love Your Videos, Great Work!😊
Love a good Austin Powers “going down the stairs” gag. Always a hit
Look forward to the video every week and this delivered big! Great looking cocktail and the bottle slide.........So happy for its return!!! Congrats on another killer vid:)
You have just got a new subscriber. Thanks I’m learning .
Love that you brought an opinion of the 80s cocktails - maybe a mini-series on 20th century cocktails by decade is on the cards?
This has become a favorite :)
That is exactly the drink I need this weekend!
I do like the sound of this cocktail.. merci
Beautiful cocktail
