    Interesting little device and great length of video, maybe 1-2 hours more would make it even better:-)
    LOL I got the idea that you used the Siglent scope, to not blow up your more expensive GW scope?
    I learned a lot, also this time, am I right in thinking that capacity is dependent on frequency and its ability to react fast enough, plus the ESR is also its limit for how fast it can charge and discharge?
    EDIT: forgot to say that you can avoid reflections on the screens if you use a circular pol-filter in front of the linse.

      I’ll have to do a video on capacitors. I’ve actually been a SME (pronounced smee, which is Subject Matter Expert) on capacitors. Each capacitor type varies in what parameters drive the characteristics of the particular capacitor. With Super Capacitors, you’re right, the esr does drive how fast the cap can be charged and discharged.

      BTW, I actually shot this before I got the GW Instek, but it was so long and there were parts that I didn’t like, so I wanted to re-shoot before I uploaded it. But, as I was on vacation and wanted to upload a video, I decided to finish it and publish it.
      I’ll try the polarized filter idea - thank you!

      @@KissAnalog That sounds wary interesting! If you like, I would really like if you could tell about why you often see small caps connected to larger caps, I guess that it have to do with reaction speed? Also if 10 x 2,000uF or 1 x 20,000 uF is preferred? :-)

    "Something that I don't know anything about", 10:22 , those are not words that inspire much confidence. I was also amused by the capacitor frequency response befuddlement. It's too bad that when you buy a tool it doesn't include the knowledge needed to use it.
    EDIT: There are many good sources online to learn how to use that O-scope. Siglent has user manuals for available for free download on their support page. But the SDS 1202X is a discontinued model so you might need to ask them about it or just find it online. I still have the manuals for the Tektronix scopes I used. A remnant of the good old days when manuals were included by default.

      I'm sorry - I don't know what your question or comment is making... At the time slot that you provided - I was reporting that the documentation wasn't sufficient for what I was measuring - then I went ahead to show how it could actually be measured by the use of an Oscilloscope. It was not a Tektronix - which I am an expert on using. I have used those for most of my career, but I am using my lab scope that is much more affordable - and I am also an expert in using. So, let me know what you want to know - and I can help you - but your comment makes no sense to me...sorry.

    • @KissAnalog

      I actually don't expect a reply to my response. I almost never get one. I must think it because the comment I am trying to respond to is just someone wanting to be negative and not actually wanting a real answer or respone...

      @jssamp4442 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KissAnalog It is not just wanting to be negative, though to be fair I can see how it might look that way. It was partly snide comment about someone posting a video presumably to educate others on a topic about, "Something that I don't know anything about." I found that amusing. I didn't want to leave it at that without helping you to find the documentation for the scope. Finally I lamented the loss of value represented by product that we purchase these days that don't include a manual. Years ago it was almost unheard of for a new tech toy to be sold without a printed manual.

    • @KissAnalog

      Great question Alex! I think I need to do a video to explain;) Short answer, Beta or b is equal to hfe which is small signal gain. Basically collector current is equal to base current times the beta. The beta and hfe are the same and are the small signal gain. Then hFE is large signal gain.

    quite reliable for what it costs, I have to buy it because besides measuring diodes triodes mosfets capacitance of caps, it also measures the ESR so as not to have to unsolder the caps from the board, (you didn't show if you could measure the ESR in the board but I think that was obvious), I was thinking of buying a MESR-100
    but that only measures the ESR for what I know, although it remains one of the best, but in your tests with BSIDE-ESR02 I have seen that the results are all acceptable, and then this is also good as function generator,
    in a few days I will arrive by courier a scope to 200 mhz like yours but of different brand (
    unfortunately without protocols, I will have to go to intuition), but I am excited at the idea of testing everything....I buy this ESR02 right now ;)

      I bought 2 mesr 100s. when you plug in a much longer pair of probes the readings become eronous. and the thing is shit to zero out. shorting the probe tips then pressing that null/zero button zeros it for just seconds, then when you short the probes the 2nd time it is off again. the input jacks also is a source of the problem. the milliohm resistance of the sleeves both the banana plugs and jacks is detected by the device. a pain in the ass for professional use

      It's all cool and dandy until you have to measure 4V caps and that is a nightmare with no clear indication of ESR with no knowledge of the board layout you're never sure.
      Still, pretty accurate but VERY UNPRACTICAL. I use it as a complementary tool and I find it pretty annoying to have to press a button each time for the device to turn on and do its measurement. I wish I had a third hand, or possibly, try to power it with the DC jack, hopefully it stays ON.

    You dont get the frequency?When the display say 0hz with no signal in to the instrument,and you dont get it?feed the tester with a sinus signal not over the voltage instrument is made to handle and the tester tells you what frequency the signal feed to tester is.That function is to read frequensy.You demonstrate the f.generator.Bside ESR02 have never failed me.The tc 1 testers are garbage straight fro factory read and experienced 2 that broke after some minutes use.I fixed 1 of them but it failed again.Many people have problems with TC 1 also.

    Okay, first time on this channel. I like seeing you teach yourself as you go, and you probably have more content that's up my alley, so thumbs up, and subscribed. But would it have killed you to spend 30 minutes alone with the device before making this, and maybe another 20 working up an outline? You're voicing a lot of half ideas, stopping mid-sentence, voicing another, then stopping. But again, definitely enjoyed this. I just bought this meter, and you've given me ideas to try.

    "Frequency = 0" because it doesn't do anything. It has no function on the ESR02 Pro just like "rotary encoder". Both functions are listed as "reserved" by B-side in that foldout sheet that comes with it. .

    That CE logo on the box is NOT the “Conformité Européenne” logo. It is the “China Export” logo. It’s almost identical to the former, but means nothing except made in China. Very confusing and misleading logo.

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the feedback! Actually this does look like the conformity mark. The 'China Export' mark has the letters closer together. It is hard to tell the difference. Also, this is a self certification, so not hard to get. This unit only has a 9 Volt battery - so I think it is a mute point - relative to safety. I did a video on this: th-cam.com/video/h6eebkRj7YI/w-d-xo.html
      It is a nice device and has 5 star rating: amzn.to/46ievpw

    Fuck :) Video starts out "I wonder whether this thing can do in circuit testing" - Well, that is exactly what I was looking for. Now, I have found myself a guy who made a FOURTY minute video on it, so what can possibly go wrong?! I would really hate to have to remove anything and everything from the board for my first project, so if I can avoid it... I have like a dozen transistors and rectifiers according to the datasheets I have found. My Bside will be in the mail tomorrow. Thanks!
