  • Today we install the tubular front suspension on the 1965 Chevelle. We will only be mocking up the A arms, Spindles and Rotors so we can get the wheels and tires back on the front and check for clearance and travel issues.
If you have a project you would like to showcase at the end of one of my videos just email me a few pics and a short description to: foothillpaintandfabrication@gmail.com

I like the way you mock things up before everything is all pretty. I've seen a lot of people wait until final assembly and things don't fit. Then you are cutting and grinding or in todays world waiting a long time for new parts. Most of my parts are one offs and it's a nightmare if they don't fit and can set me back months. My custom spindles took 11 months to get before todays problems. Thank you for your time.

We all have enough problems without blindly assuming everything will fit and not cause some other unforeseen problem. I have seen a lot of patch jobs too where they had to cut and weld after painting. Pretty easy to avoid so why not?
Custom spindles huh? Impressive. Did you design the geometry?

I bought a similar set of A-arms years ago and read the same about the junk ball joints. I swapped mine out with Moog lowers and another company's half inch taller uppers. Haven't built the car yet to test but the stories I read they broke just pulling in driveways. I do intend to auto-x the car someday. Cheap insurance if you ask me. Nice work though. Thanks for the inspiration

No problems so far but the car will come back for a once over after he gets some more miles on it. I will give them a good look at that time.
What car are the A arms going on?

65 malibu ss. It's a rot box but I'll be diving into it this summer. Been collecting parts for a few years. Have a few LS to choose from, t56 manual, full tubular suspension, larger sway bars, bucket seats etc. Will be stiffening the frame and doing rear narrowing and mini tubs for bigger tires too. Big dreams

@@titosvt Hey Tom, nothing wrong with big dreams, heck I have been dreaming about what I will do to my GTO for over 25 years! It's next on the channel so stay tuned.
Best of luck on your build.

Love how you point out all considerations. Can’t wait to do this mod to my 65. Keep it up!

Thanks. The front is the easy conversion, the rear not so much. I have a video coming for that too.

What size front tire is that?
