My friend who was a local band member said if I can play Toto´s Songs I will be a great rock band member. Drummers, keyboards, guitars, bass, and songs arrangements here are genius.
Greg played for Michael Jackons Bad World Tour and Dangerous World Tour. An incredible task to handle Michaels music live in jam packed stadiums around the world.
Mike couldnt be on the tour so he rang up the North Pole and called Santa Claus...Santa is one wickid bad ass bass player though, for those who never know!
I was wondering why this dude was playing instead of David on this tour. Its so awesome to know that he was personally asked by David to play for him. He has so much respect for the original content and I think he's great
Man you are the best,I dont know if many people can do those complex lines between those different keyboards and perfectly in time,You are a Genius.I am a Pro musician and proud of you.
It's kind of funny to hear Bobby talk about putting his solo band together because he asked me to be ins solo band in the late 90s so I'm wondering if I would have been with Bobby, Simon and who knows who else!!
Not only a fantastic keyboard player but also a great singer and arranger. His work with Herbie Hancock is stunning, I mean who has the chops to correct Herbie? check out the Possibilities album to see what I mean.
To what is Lee Sklar referring at 4:49 when he discusses his inolvement with the Toto Network as a correspondent and says he is now occupying the space he had once been commenting on?
The Toto Network was a forum ish website back in 2006-2008 where you could chat and post etc and the band members would often post updates, vlogs and answer questions. Besides the band members, they had other musicians, most notably Lee Sklar who also would post stuff, and this was before he took over for Mike. When he eventually did take over for him in early 2007, he continued the corresponding with the fans. It was quite cool ✌️ The website came to a close in 2008, mainly because the band called it quits then, and also it became redundant with the emergence of social media.
Ich liebe gerade diese Zusammensetzung, obwohl der Sänger von "Fahrenheit" auch besonders war!!! Hey Steve, nimm beide und diese Besetzung...Das wird unglaublich!!! Also einzigartig.! Und dann noch der blonde Sänger, der auch Gitarre spielt, ich würde überall auf der Welt eine Karte kaufen!!!!!!!!!! Liebe Grüße!!
I wouldn't classify your basic power trio as a "Bash & Crash" type band but my only question about this interview is WHO IS THE 1st GUY. long hair and sings & plays guitar, no name given.for those of us are old-timers & not savvy with all the new shit, ie lineups et al. No names throughout actually
Why can't more engineers get this bass drum sound recored, with this kind of dynamic range that's like being there, it almost never happens. Toto is made up of killer studio musicians that tend to have better sound recordings but I just don't understand why others can't ask them what they are doing to get that range and then copy it. Unless you have this streaming through a nice system, you probably don't know what the heck I'm talking about but I can't tell you, I've never heard drums sound so nice before on any other recording and YT streaming, so all you engineers out there, copy what these guys are doing please. Also, if I could just get this band jamming with this SQ, I would pay for it, unfortunately when the studios produce their CD's, it's so compressed, it's not worth paying for. This sound is where it's at and the reason I said these guys "jamming" instead of a CD is because the CD's are compressed and too perfect, the timing is always perfect because it's played to a click track to remove the soul and human touch from it, I won't pay money for click track music, give me top players jamming any day over that over produced shit. Prince has some after party CD's that are some much better to listen to than the songs on CD's, I can't leave the car until the songs are over with Prince jamming that funky rock he lets lose when live and no click track to remove the soul and funk.
The main secret to that is not so much the drum itself, but Simon himself. He doesn't bury the beater and his tuning is not the dead flop many people tune bass drums to, which would be horrible on the 24" ones he uses.
Ah Luke, we dig Earnie Ball guitars but are you contractually obligated NEVER to talk about your history of guitars? Guaranteed you've got Strats, Teles,, LP's. Gretch guitars you still love and use.

Joseph was the best singer Toto had, imo. Bobby was great, but, after he was fired, he totally lost his voice. He needed Autotune to help him, during the last couple of tours he was on. Fergie was great as well. But, you can’t really compare the two because they have totally different singing styles.
Bobby Kimball now you aren't the only one who was fired and came back to this facinating group:Joseph Williams is BACK and for this was fantastic because he was/is my favourite's Toto singer.

Greg Phillinganes, absolutely a keyboard beast!

Greg Phillnganes is an excellent keyboardist and funnyman. He always had Luke in stitches.
And this is why Toto is my all time favorite band.
I have really enjoyed all of the musicians that Luke has assembled over the years
Soft-spoken Englishmen conquered the world for a few centuries. Thankfully, this one focussed on conquering an enormous drum kit 😁
Simon Phillips is a beast.. for an incredibly softly spoken Englishman! 🤣
Some SERIOUS brain-power in that band, for sure. But watching Greg break down "Africa" brought a big smile to my face.
