I have never hoped to force you obeying our cultures while you are living in japan, but you guys already got used to its own country's style, same as when you were in Korea. Colt Angelo If you are in Cebu, there is a new authentic ramen restaurant that originated from Fukouka, yes their Ramen is one of the best, authentic. Their chef is from Fukouka. Its "Ikkousha Ramen Cebu". If you are in Manila, you can try Ramen Nagi and a whole lot more.

A couple of weeks ago I had my first bowel of Tonkotus ramen. It was amazing. It was at a ramen restaurant in LA California called Tatsu Ramen, which has been voted one of the best Ramen shops in LA. The best part for me was that they had gluten free rice noodles that they import from Japan. Just a heads up they are a thicker style noodle, and remind a little of spaghetti noodles, but they a still devious. So if there are any nasties living near or will be visiting LA in the future who have a gluten problem and either miss eating ramen or have never had ramen, I would definitely recommend this place. They make their broths from scratch every day, each taking 12-14 hours to make. They also have 100% chicken and vegan options as well.
Gosh I know, hearing Simon say all that after eating literally made me start balling like mf. I hope they never see this comment as I can imagine hearing this during what they are going through does not help - but - they made me believe people could love and care for each other in a deep level. I’ve never had that kind of role models. And now, it’s just a reiteration that everything sucks and nothing is permanente and the only thing you get from love is grief at the end of all of it. But anyways. I stopped watching them after they moved from Korea, but recently go into watching their Japan videos. It’s bittersweet at times like this. But damn, they made great content. Glad I have stuff to watch from these adventures.
Your vids get me through the sadness that I'm not currently in Japan. Love seeing you guys embracing Japan and these vids are tv quality (and better than most!). So informative and visceral. Haha. Also I'm with Simon! When it's good ramen you have to finish the broth. When I'm out with my host family I feel like the greedy westerner. Haha. For those living in Illinois, you have to visit Table to Stix Ramen in Evanston! The Tonkotsu ramen is just as good, if not better than what is in this video! I can guarantee it. :D I go there as often as I can, but the ramen is a little pricey, so I don't go as often as I'd like to. :(

Nice! :D Illinois is great, so definitely visit downtown Chicago, for the architecture. And if you ever head to Massachusetts, you should visit the Brown Sugar Cafe and try the Thai Fried Rice. :) I don't eat out a lot but when I do, I'm very picky with the restaurants.
Schyzo Scherzo You should try Hokkaido Ramen Santouka in Arlington Heights,Illinois. It's in a Japanese market(Mitsuwa). It's one of my favorite ramen places in Illinois.

1) very true tonkotsu ramen is kind of a minority ramen in Japan. Meaty, rich, creamy food is not really a Japanese palette. People in Kyushu have slightly exotic food tastes (lots of pork, which is why they have the bones to make into the soup) from the POV of main island Japanese. Salt and soy sauce are the "traditional" ramen flavors. And yes, all my foreigner friends like tonkotsu lol. 2) I think ramen lovers in Japan think it's blasphemous when people don't finish the soup, since like Simon says, it's one of the best parts. I am sure they are silently appreciating you each time you finish that bowl clean. I am not the biggest tonkotsu ramen fan but I should try it in Kyushu, not just judge it based on what I have had in Tokyo.
I have eaten once shoyu ramen back in my country.. I was not a fan. I had an academic exchange experience in Fukuoka.. gosh was I wrong about not liking ramen. Tonkotsu is the best!!!!!😭😭😭

I never really thought I'd ever really like ramen, simply because the flavour profile is so different from an Indian's... But I ended up in Singapore, I went to a ramen shop solely cuz of you two and tried the tonkotsu. Best. Decision. EVER!! Thanks you guys!!
If you are in Utah, on Saturdays you can go to Hanamaru in Ogden Utah on a Saturday at 11:00 am and get the Tonkatsu miso ramen, a glorious experience. They serve it until they sell out.
Don't get me wrong, I think it looks pretty damn cool too. But fried rice is literally one of the easiest meals to make lol. Now if they made that thing make a huge batch of fried rice, that would be cool to watch.
Well it is a popular restaurant, I imagine they get busy a lot of the times and have no time to fully tend to cooking the fried rice, when they're all busy making ramens,
In the US, Tonkotsu ramen is hard to find, especially good quality where the meat isn't overlooked, etc. I tend towards shoyu because of that. But you also get cool unique ramen, like with corn and tomatoes. Super yummy! I have a feeling Japanese ramen is just on a whole other level of goodness, though :)

We were in Fukuoka for a few days. One of them was for this ramen, and another one was for another Sushi God's restaurant (which we also shot a video at). Didn't have much time otherwise!

For those living in Illinois, you have to visit Table to Stix Ramen in Evanston! The Tonkotsu ramen is just as good, if not better than what is in this video! I can guarantee it. :D I go there as often as I can, but the ramen is a little pricey, so I don't go as often as I'd like to. :(

Nice! :D Illinois is great, so definitely visit downtown Chicago, for the architecture. And if you ever head to Massachusetts, you should visit the Brown Sugar Cafe and try the Thai Fried Rice. :) I don't eat out a lot but when I do, I'm very picky with the restaurants.

Schyzo Scherzo You should try Hokkaido Ramen Santouka in Arlington Heights,Illinois. It's in a Japanese market(Mitsuwa). It's one of my favorite ramen places in Illinois.

1) very true tonkotsu ramen is kind of a minority ramen in Japan. Meaty, rich, creamy food is not really a Japanese palette. People in Kyushu have slightly exotic food tastes (lots of pork, which is why they have the bones to make into the soup) from the POV of main island Japanese. Salt and soy sauce are the "traditional" ramen flavors. And yes, all my foreigner friends like tonkotsu lol.
2) I think ramen lovers in Japan think it's blasphemous when people don't finish the soup, since like Simon says, it's one of the best parts. I am sure they are silently appreciating you each time you finish that bowl clean.
I am not the biggest tonkotsu ramen fan but I should try it in Kyushu, not just judge it based on what I have had in Tokyo.
I have eaten once shoyu ramen back in my country.. I was not a fan. I had an academic exchange experience in Fukuoka.. gosh was I wrong about not liking ramen. Tonkotsu is the best!!!!!😭😭😭

But I ended up in Singapore, I went to a ramen shop solely cuz of you two and tried the tonkotsu.

If you are in Utah, on Saturdays you can go to Hanamaru in Ogden Utah on a Saturday at 11:00 am and get the Tonkatsu miso ramen, a glorious experience. They serve it until they sell out.

Don't get me wrong, I think it looks pretty damn cool too. But fried rice is literally one of the easiest meals to make lol. Now if they made that thing make a huge batch of fried rice, that would be cool to watch.

In the US, Tonkotsu ramen is hard to find, especially good quality where the meat isn't overlooked, etc. I tend towards shoyu because of that. But you also get cool unique ramen, like with corn and tomatoes. Super yummy! I have a feeling Japanese ramen is just on a whole other level of goodness, though :)
