From Shirt to Skirt in 5 Minutes! No Sewing or Glue! DIY Drawstring Skirt | T-Shirt Cutting Tutorial

- Get ready for summer with this simple DIY! In this T-shirt cutting tutorial we will upcycle some oversized shirts into drawstring skirts in under 5 minutes :) I thought this would be great for quick costumes, play clothes, growing kids, and just everyday wear. Hope you enjoy and get inspired!
Materials used: 2 oversized T-shirts (from local thrift store), Scissors, ruler, chalk, wooden skewer

This is nice cuz I want to try out a skirt (I’m male) and I don’t want to have to go out in public plus it’s a nice project since I’m newer to sewing

I tried this and It turned out cuter than expected, I recommend using a shirt with thick material though because mine was see through and I’m more on the slimmer side so I needed something tighter to hold the top. Even though this is supposed to be an easy diy I’d probably sew the edges because mine curled when I cut the shirt, other than that it’s such an adorable hack and took me around an hour because I couldn’t get the string to hold on to the skewer :)
Thank-you so much! and I agree I toyed around with kind of a petal shape at the ends to accommodate for shirts that have that curved shape, but ultimately left it out. I should have used only straight cut shirts, but a quick sew would be perfect fix. I love to hear this kind of feedback😊
For those who can't sew, you can also use fabric tape for the cut edge and fold over it.

Great video! I literally just did this! Two tips number one when you’re threading the string through make sure that you’re pulling the hem of the shirt so it goes with it,makes it easier and I also used a little bit of scotch tape tape tape the string to the skewer and it pulled through so easy!!! I’m not the best at things like this so my result was very scuffed and a bit low quality but I am very pleased with the results! I needed a skirt for an event tomorrow, so I could not order online nor would I feel comfortable asking my parents for one (I’m a transitioning woman), so this was excellent as a “for now” solution. Thank you kindly! ^_^

If you have a hot glue gun or can sew you can even add lace to the bottom around ur skirt❤️ great video definitely gonna try this👍❤️❤️

It's really good but the waistline is a bit lose even with the string.
Oh no, I must have used a more stretchy fabric, maybe try a strip of different fabric or some elastic for the waistband😊 thank you for watching

I just cut small holes, 2 in the front and one on each side of the seams. You can also use a safety pin and work the string through if it's easier😊

I did this basically and I did this like up in a psych ward and I was told it's not addressed so what difference does discrimination make whether it's from a professional sore or whether it's from a unprofessional influencer with a little bit of creativity
