Valuation is not only based on revenue .. revenue , ebitda, number of users , market share in field, kitne series of funding hua hai, ability to pay etc etc all have a factor in company valuation.. dcf (discounted cash flow) which these guys used is just one method.. The thing is sugar's valuation has gotten this high because it's a venture funded business, and their whole philosophy up until very recently was just go fast and scale up to be the first to establish market leadership. This also causes these companies to often make losses because you cannot optimise for profit in today's marketplace while also scaling at that speed and acquiring so many customers. The good thing is the market is hopefully changing again, investors are becoming more cautious and focused on profitable growth rather than blitzscaling after the disasters of Uber, WeWork on the global level and PayTM/Zomato in India. We can also see the kind of backlash that Mama Earth is getting now. There will be a short period where the market will have to correct, the valuations that some of the old companies have will have to be maintained as they come for the IPO, but whether the public market will support it is definitely a big question mark.
