I think nearly 50 have reacted to this, many who have never heard of Home Free. But they have now! Clever how they drew reactors in with the "try singing opera". Previous reactors to HF stuff were more shocked than most of the others. It's been great fun watching mouths drop open when Rob does his first few notes. Travis, you should watch Maggie Renee's reaction and others.
Gospel Rob is now Opera Rob. Professional opera have said Austin is a good crossover singer, but Rob could have had a career in opera! 😊 Love your stunned response.
Austin is very far from a "pop singer." I can only suppose that you have not heard much of his work. He was trained classically from adolescence and studied musical theatre at one of the best colleges for.such programs, where the voice training is very rigorous. He can sing in any genre, though I'm afraid being in Home Free has made him a country singer and so reduced his audience. Check out his.version of Bring Him Home for a study in control and sensitivity.
Rob is like a singing chameleon. He seem to be able to adjust his voice to literally any genre and style of singing and sound good doing it. Crazy. Austin, well he's got so much soul that it just oozes out of his ears, or perhaps out through his head as hair. Either way, he's got my absolute favourite voice of all times, and he never disappoints. You had the jaw drop, you're in good company and so was I. 😱 Thanks for the reaction, Travis! 🥰🙏
Rob studied opera in college and had not sung it in 15 years! Austin went for musical theatre with a bit of opera thrown in. His professors wanted him to continue with opera but his heart was in musical theater. Austin talked Rob into doing this video to show off Rob’s “hidden talent”! They were both very nervous when the video was going to be released! They both are awesome!
You can sure tell Rob studied opera! Austin did awesome too, but I could tell that once Rob started singing his voice was a bit more powerful and he got comfortable with it.. Not only hitting those notes but also getting the pronunciation and emotion right when singing in a different language is very difficult..
Years ago Rob's vocal coach said he could have a big career in opera. Thank God he joined HF. An Italian reactor said she not only forgot they weren't professional opera singers but she even forgot they weren't Italian.
Travis Rob actually was trained in classically in college. Austin was of a musical theater background. This was Austin's idea and he had to convince Rob to do it. Rob had not sung opera in 15 years. I was totally amazed that Rob sounded so different then usual but you could tell it was Austin. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
I was completely mesmerized like under a spell or something listening to this video. Opera is hard and they don't sing Opera every day and they sound like they sing Opera every day! This totally proves that they can do anything vocally. All the guys of Home Free can.
Rob, Rob, Rob, Rob. He surprised me so much, too. I guess I sort of expected this from Austin, because I've seen his Bring Him Home, etc. But Rob was a surprise. Just wow. He's so polished and his tone, breathing, phrasing, all of it, really. Anyway, I get chills every time I hear that progression into the last belted note. I can't help it.
Such a treat! But seriously, Rob sounds like a different artist than we hear when he sings with Home Free! I don't like opera, but these two "tried" and did what I didn't expect--they made me want to watch it over and over again. Who knew? 🤭
In an interview with Patrol Gaming, Austin said he'd really wanted to show off "opera Rob"; however, Rob said he wouldn't unless Austin sang it with him (Rob had extensive training in opera. Austin had some but his degree is in Musical Theater). Austin said he thought he'd been okay but that Rob was fantastic. I love the way they support each other! Great reaction!
I know, right?! I was expecting to be rickrolled and then this happened. I knew Rob had studied opera but that was years ago. Austin studied musical theater and we know they can sing but this??!!! WOW! They’re so good. Full of surprises. 🥰
I often hear it said about Rob that he doesn’t look like that high country tenor should be coming out of him. He looks like THIS voice should be coming out of him. What a performance!
Travis, that was my reaction when I heard this. For what ever reason I thought it was going to be funny. I had no idea! On the other hand I knew in my heart that they wouldn't disrespect the genre by making it funny. So, that brings us to this fantastic performance. These guys have proven that they can do almost anything. My son and I went to see them live in a town near us and they are amazing. If you get a chance to go see them, jump on it. You won't be disappointed.
Rob bel canto'd the shizzle out of this, with a truly operatic free-spinning chiaroscuro!! God bless Austin for hitting the notes, & with some flair.... but I'd buy an album of Rob singing a selection of popular arias in a heartbeat. :)
Just listen again to Rob's solos in the Sea Shanty Medley - that larynx is good and dropped. In the UK (and in Russia) we love us a lyric tenor like Austin, so to me his entry really succeeds, with that bright incisive tone. I used to go to the opera a lot when I lived in London and got rather tired of the heavy Italianate style, but Rob's voice is truly special. It's a shame they've said that they won't be doing any more opera.
I agree with what you are saying here. It’s heretical, I know, but I enjoy their version of Nessun Dorma more than the famous viral recording by Pavarotti. To me it is more emotionally compelling and stronger in the lower registers where Pavarotti was not. Rob’s dramatic tenor is truly magnificent, and Austin’s soaring lyric tenor harmonizes beautifully. I hope that the overwhelmingly positive response convinces them to do more opera. Even this one song, one of the most beautiful and difficult tenor arias, has introduced a lot of people to the beauty of opera without the pretension.
Patrol Nation (Lyle) happened to show the live off-mic performance of 'How Great Thou Art' a couple weeks before this came out. You could easily hear the power and strength of Rob's voice in that, so I was somewhat prepared. But Rob's tone still shocked me. Very impressive.
I am so glad you got to this video. Austin had recorded his part, then heard Rob singing his part and went back and recorded his part over again. They are both absolutely amazing! They were both classically trained. Austin for Broadway musicals and Rob for Opera. Rob was actually nervous about this because it had been almost 15 years since he had sung in this style. I've heard his dad cried when he listened to it. So sweet.
@@TeaTimeWithTravis They're both amazing, but I'll admit, Rob blew me away more than Austin if for no other reason than sheer surprise. WOW the talent they have. I'm with you...when is the CD coming?
I cry everytime I hear this just from the beauty and emotion. Mind blowing right? A good lesson for many on "don't judge a book by it's cover"! So much more than what's under the hat's, jeans and boots! That was an awesome reaction Travis! Thank you and sending love from South Georgia!♥️😢🍟
It’s ok, I know, I wondered, at first is it was a joke with some kind of track over him! My chin was on the floor! And they were nervous about releasing it!!🔥🔥🔥It is so amazing and beautiful!😍🥰🥰. Everyone’s reaction is the same!😊 Wonderful! Loved yours!❤
For some reason, thought you'd already reacted to this. A good number of reactors, given the word 'try,' were expecting a spoof or lip syncing. Something in keeping with their comedic skills. (I'd not have been opposed to them staying in their tees and hats, appearing to make a valiant effort and then being amazing.) Now you'll never see Rob and Austin quite the same, knowing what more they're able to do. Given the overwhelmingly positive response the guys got to this, perhaps that'll motivate them to explore even more.
The true opera singers who are also reactors gave them very good marks for their efforts considering neither of them were professional opera singers. I want to hear Rob sing Santa Maria for Christmas.
I found some of the "professional " singers very patronising - "Good effort, guys!" particularly since these professionals seem to live off monetising reactions on YT, rather than by actually singing. As a former teacher, I know that praising people for their effort is the same as no praise at all!
Great Reaction! I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.
Stunning isn't it Travis? I have said this elsewhere and I'll say it here. When this first dropped and I watched and listened I froze, my mouth dropped open and the tears started falling. I absolutely adored Luciano Pavarotti and this piece. Maestro is smiling watching this now.
Someone mentioned that Rob sang this for his father for Father's Day. Also that Austin went back and recorded his part after hearing Rob's portion. Great reaction, knew you would love it. Glad to be following you as a subscriber. For a different aspect of Rob's singing there is a fan video of a Christmas concert from years ago with Rob doing "Joy To The World" (the Jeremiah Was Bullfrog one. Sorry don't have a link to it.
Totally agree, need opera albums ❤, your face looked like mine the first time I saw this and had to send this to my mom, who is kind of an opera snob, but I had introduced her to Home Free in May, she liked them, this blew her away ❤
What a great reaction! Yes, this is insane. It is so extremely good. Fantastic. Both are doing great, but Rob, I'm perplexed!!! His voice is just magical, so rich, so warm and powerful. Chills just ran through my body. It flows into my heart. For me he will be able to stand with the greatest of opera singers. It's not often that I listen to songs by opera singers 5 times and more in a row. But here it is. Of course I hope that both will always continue to do Home Free, but I wouldn't think it wrong that such "trips" are made more often. Opera, country, ballads, soul etc. I think anything is possible. Hearing Rob singing in his operatic voice just smoked my mind. It's obvious he has had some training. They are both incredible. But Rob, Dang.
The best thing about all the Home Free guy is just when you think you seen all they can do they show you something else.
Austin does an amazing job as a pop singer singing opera. Rob IS an opera singer singing opera. They are both FANTASTIC.

In my Humble Opinion she could Challenge God's Angels with her perfect pitch ,tone & note Separation with An absolute command & ease on the Stage. In A word I call ( Flawless ) 😆
