Instead of the ceramic media, can you use small aquarium rocks?

The answer is yes (edit) for Stages 1 through Pre-Polish. This has actually been a discussion (which I started) on the rock tumbling forum in the past. Some have used aquarium rocks (quartz mostly, which is harder) to tumble. Some use Pea Gravel which can be purchased at the Nursery, very inexpensively. I have used Pea Gravel. That said, it breaks down way too fast for me, and it really thickens the slurry.
A thick slurry is not as big a deal in a Rotary tumbler. But in a Vibratory tumbler, it can lead to "grit suspension". "grit suspension" is when the aquarium rock breaks down so fast that it creates a thick slurry very fast. And that can allow the actual Grit (or Polish in this case), to not be able to touch the rocks. If this happens, then you will have very little reduction (or polishing) of the actual rocks themselves.
I personally would never use gravel, or aquarium rocks for a Polish stage, simply because I want to keep the scratches on the actual stones to a minimum.

Hey, lots of us like long videos… I like watching and learning while I do other things like knitting, crochet, drawing, sewing 🫶

I thought how nice of you to make a comment and then you went on with a smart ass shit that you’re supposed to be doing while watching this man. Ha ha anyways it’s kind of cute but kind of rude on necessarily in my opinion. But maybe a misunderstanding you actually do do all that while you’re listening

@@joannelapointe835 This comment wasn’t actually sarky in the slightest (tho ironically, I am sarcastic and dry humoured by nature). I spend so much time watching other people doing things on YT and then I feel guilty for “wasting” time just watching other people doing things (I over-research and go down rabbit holes and never tend to use the things I buy myself)…. So I like to knit or mindlessly colour or whatnot while watching long videos so I feel like, I, too, accomplished at least something on the weekend except watch YT (even though that’s really all I’ve done!) 😂
He was saying he made and didn’t think people liked long videos… I was wanting to comment that I do!
