I find Sam to be an intriguing character in this game. This is my opinion, nothing set in stone, but I think in Sam's mind, Tommy and Paulie betrayed him. Not the other way around. Robbing banks was a big HELL NO in their line of work. They hid some money at Sam's club, Paulie admits this to Tommy. I think someone (Possibly Sam or the Don) found that cash, and Salieri ordered Sam to kill his friends for betraying not only Sam's but the Don's trust as well. Loyalty is a big thing for Sam, he wants to stay loyal to the Don and move higher up. He probably saw Tom and Paulie as unloyal for hiding their money at HIS club. He's blinded by his loyalty to the Don. It's like Frank said, "Sam is loyal but he has no vision" Part of me wonders what would've happened if Paulie had a heart to heart with Sam like how he did with Tom, it doesn't sit right with me personally that Paulie would tell Tom how he feels deep down and not Sam who he's known longer. I think Paulie and Tom were getting closer as well though which is probably a good reason why. In the Mob world. it's kill or be killed. If Sam didn't kill his best friends, he'd be killed. When Tom confronted him about Paulie, Sam immediately looked like he had regret, he probably did for his best friend, but he cared more about loyalty over friendship in the end. Sam also says "Making me choose between my friends and the family" He never wanted to betray his friends in the first place but his loyalty completely blinded him

Imo it was more like since Sam was so close to Tommy & Paulie, he too would be killed off, unless he proved that he was loyal to the Don, which is go & deal with Tommy & Paulie. Only Way he could prove his loyalty enough, so he would not get killed to.
The mafia did do that in real life.
But they did betray him by either your theory or mine. It could be both frankly.
Sam is an interesting character. Great game.

It had nothing to do with Sam, Salieri would not kiII Sam because of the bank. Who cares if it's Sam's club, it's not even finished, I doubt Sam even knew about that part. Why would Don even go to Sam's club anyway? No one found money there, Paulie took it to his apartment. They just left the car there.
Sam simply told everything to Salieri immediately when he heard about the bank. He even told Salieri about the girl, blaming Tommy (most likely never mentioning his part at all). I don't believe in his loyalty either, he's lying again and again. He promised not to tell Don anything first time Paulie mentioned his idea ('I own you that much"). He is lying to Tommy on phone. No loyalty, no honesty. Same as Salieri breaking his own rule about dope, lying about diamonds, not tomention Salieri (and Morello) kiIIed their own Don.

Mafia 3 is open world like GTA. As much as I love the game, I can’t deny that the missions are very repetitive. You can do them in any order you choose (or at the same time, which I don’t recommend) and they’re all unlocked at the same time, so I recommend starting with one boss and doing one at a time instead of being all over doing three bosses at the same time.
The story and acting more than make up for it, but going thru and finishing the game takes a lot of patience.

Can’t wait for you to meet Joe in Mafia 2- he’s the sidekick character and best friend of Vito. As well Lincoln(the protagonist) and Donovan in Mafia 3.
Also, that’s a thing about the Mafia life, if you betray your oath and the boss, you will get a hit on you and most likely be dead.
I’m no Mafia genius or encyclopaedic, but if you have a chance, listen to Michael Franzese- he’s a former caporegime of the Colombo Crime Family(one of the Five Families). He tells stories about his life in the Colombo Crime Family- how he got in, the things he has done etc etc., pretty fascinating stories.

Great game. There are some things I like to say about the ending.
In the OG version, Sam was happy to betray Tommy and Paulie because he was greedy and he was little jealous of Tommy. He told Tommy that the hooker actually came back to town years after Tommy spare her and they found her by accident. In the OG game, Sam never ask Tommy to spare her, Tommy chose to spare her because he didn't like killing women. He even brag about killing her himself when they found her. In the OG game, Tommy testify against Salieri and the family and because of that Salieri got life while some got life and some got the chair and Tommy did time himself in a secret prison. Years later, Tommy is an old man and he's watering his lawn and a car pull, two guys got out and approached him and called him out by his name. As he turned around they pulled a shotgun and shot him and in the end he had a surprise look on his face as if he didn't expect this and he dies alone on his lawn.
In the remake, Sam betrays Tommy and Paulie not out of greed but out of fear, fear of Salieri. He knews that Salieri had changed over the years and he's no longer the respected businessman he once was since he was betrayed by Frank. It's possible that he told Salieri about the bank job out of fear in case if he decided to kill Tommy and Paulie for going behind his back then he would kill him for not telling him. Sam loved Tommy and Paulie like brothers but I believe that it was his fear of Salieri that made him betray them. In the remake, same thing happened, Tommy testify against Salieri, Salieri got life, Tommy did time and years later he was gunned down on his lawn. But the difference is that while old Tommy was watering his lawn and the hitmen called him out by his name, he dropped the water hose and slowly turned around to face them because he expected that this would happen eventually. When they called his name, he knew it was over him which is why he turned around slowly, slightly smile and accept his fate. After he was shoted, he told his family they was safe now because he knew that with him gone, his family is safe and dies on his lawn surrounded by his family. Kinda a slight happier ending than the OG if you ask me.

@@v4v777 I mean we should appreciate the remake it’s fantastic there is worse look at what they did with gta! For me the OG end speech should have been kept instead of that family quote, and sometimes in remake what I did not like they made Tommy too savage too fast. In OG he was a normal guy more so there is ups and downs but both is good

    • @adrianharrell87
      @adrianharrell87 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@v4v777 to be honest, I like both the OG and the remake for different reasons.
In the OG - after the shootout at the church, Tommy shared words with the priest and after sharing words, Tommy gave him some money, not to keep quiet but to repair damages to the church and asked the priest to pray for him.
In the OG - Frank actually did a good job of keeping a low profile in Europe instead of being spotted by a friend of the family. It was because of the hooker that he and possibly his family was killed. So basically, Tommy spareing the hooker wasn't just the final nail in his coffin, but in Frank's as well.
In the remake - Tommy dies on his lawn surrounded by his loved ones. Instead of him dies alone.

You know, the world isn’t run by the laws written on paper. It’s run by people. Some according to laws, others not. It depends on each individual how his world will be, how he makes it. And you also need a whole lot of luck, so that somebody else doesn’t make your life hell. And it ain’t as simple as they tell you in grade school. But it is good to have strong values and to maintain them. In marriage, in crime, in war, always and everywhere. I messed up. So did Paulie and Sam. We wanted a better life, but in the end we were a lot worse off than most other people. You know, I think it’s important to keep a balance in things. Yeah, balance, that’s the right word. Because the guy who wants too much risks losing absolutely everything. Of course, the guy who wants too little from life, might not get anything at all...

Maybe its gonna Sound harsh here, but it seems from your reaction to the ending, that you dont really understand the World of the mafia at this time. Its not something you “just” choose to leave or betray. That is why when he dies he tells his wife, that they are safe now. He was a danger to his family by being alive.
& Sam also literally had no choice. His friends betrayed him by robbing that bank behind the boss back. Sam also warns Paulie about it.
With Sam being so close to Paulie & Tommy, he would have being killed aswell, unless he proved his loyalty.
The real life mafia did that. Kill someone close to you, to prove you are loyal 100% to the family & the boss. Especially since they were his friends. He would have being killed aswell, if he himself did not deal with Them.
This is one of realist endings to a game ever, so yeah. Love that people in todays Mindset who plays this game, expects a Happy ending & then history smacks Them like this xD

Oh poor Sam, THEY betrayed HIM! lol
Seriously, why tooIs defend that P--o--S Sam? Why would Salieri eliminate Sam, he has nothing to do with the bank. No, Sam sold his buddies purely for his own ambition, so his boss can pat him on the head and tell him what good boy he is. Sam is a b.... and nothing else. He promised he would not tell Salieri ('I own you that much'), he lied on phone how he 'always pays his debt, you saved my life, blah, blah'. In the end he desperately begged for mercy with new lies (he is a coward, and perhaps even jealous of Tommy).
Also how they 'betrayed' Don? They didn't steal anything from him. He lied and betrayed them, just as he betrayed and kiIIed his own don (Peppone) along with Morello. Salieri could just demand his cut like Falcone in Mafia2. That's what Paulie actually said and it makes more sense from mafia perspective. Most likely it was Sam who directly influenced Salieri to make this decision. He even told him how Tommy let that girl go just to make him more angry. Keep simping for Sam tho.

@@Nicolai-ho5bc nothing intelligent whatsoever lol.... why would Salieri kiII Sam when everyone knows there were only TWO robbers? Because he was friend with Tommy and Paulie?? So was Ralphie and Vinny and Luigi and literally everyone else. I guess he should kiII his entire organization in your 'logic' huh? There is no way Salieri even connected Tommy and Paulie with the bank, especially not that very same evening, only if they actually disappeared from the city next day then it would be obvious. It was Sam who told him because he knew Paulie's plans. Sam also told Salieri about the girl for no other reason but to make Tommy look even more disloyal. The real question is why Salieri did not eIiminate Tommy when he found about Frank, now what's far more important reason to whack him than the bank. Too complicated for you anyway.
