My son wanted to make graduation cords for his ultimate frisbee teammates and himself - i didn't know about them, but they're a 70 inch long twisted cord with tassel ends, given to club members. This tutorial helped a lot, nice and to the point. We used a short cut: we used a cup hook as a drill attachment, and the electric drill made short work of the twisting.

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! This actually worked with 130 inches of very thin cord where I had to integrate black, red, gold, green. It worked like a dream. I put red and gold at the start, attached black and green at the end so I would have all 4 colors after halving them, and just started twisting. I now have about 60 inches of twisted cord with all 4 colors for my dream catcher. This goes in my bag of tricks. Thank you!

Excellent demonstration. Well done! Thank you so much for your help. The pattern I had was very very basic in explanation and mine didn't work at all. I had to google and am so glad I found this video. Very helpful in deed.

Just letting you know that your original string should be about 4x the length you want the cord to be. Once you do all the twisting it will be much shorter, so 4x plus a couple of extra inches just in case is good.

oh yeah? Before I fold the strings in half, or after i fold the strings in half? 4x length, then fold in half and pin it and start twisting?

You may be ready to start twisting, but the rest of us need to know how long to cut the yarn compared with the length of cord we want. Twice as long as we want the finished cord to be? Four times as long? This is absolutely essential information.

It works with as many cords as you want. I often use 6 or 8 lengths of thread, then twist using my husband's drill - faster, especially when you are making a long cord.

    Use a drill.
