Metalica asked them to do this for the Blacklist album (30th Anniversary of Black album). Them and Alessia Cara came up with this, and recorded AND submitted it in one week!! Its the first track on the Black List Album.
No they did NOT. Metallica asked Alessia Cara, NOT The Warning. She was stuck and didn't know what direction to go. This project wasn't really in her wheelhouse. She and The Warning share the same management company . Her people talked to The Warning's people, obviously they jumped at the idea. Management proposed the collaboration to Metallica and they approved. I do believe it was The Warning that asked to do Enter Sandman though. They took about a day and half to come up with the rearrangement. Spent I think it was two days in the studio laying down instrumental tracks, and a day doing vocals. Could be the other way around. It's been a minute since I watched the "Dany Day" video where she explains it all. Because they joined the project late, they only had about a week to do. They came in well under the deadline. I believe the Official Music Video was shot in the same week after the studio work was complete.
Chris Smith of 21 Entertainment Group suggested the collaboration to Alessia with TW. Metallica invited Alessia to submit a song from the Black album for the Blacklist album. She told Chris she didn't even know a single song from the Black album, so she liked the idea of the collaboration. Metallica also liked the idea and approved the collaboration. That is how this re-arrangement came about. Chris Smith is their International Booking Agent with 21 Entertainment Group out of Toronto.

It just made sense that they would have, given the 2014 cover, and then Alessia was brought in as the extra due to record company shenanigans. What a backwards world.

Isn't it an absolute masterful piece of genius!? The 'time crunch' (deadlines) and the distance and travel logistics with all people involved in the recording and making of the video makes it even more of a wonder.

A breath of fresh air, that's how The Warning makes me feel when playing live :-) In the studio is where recent releases such as More and S!CK have left me confused with production, mastering and mixing decisions. Every band finds a producer that understands, compliments yet enhances the band's signature sound e.g. Tom Allom for Judas Priest, Eddie Kramer for KISS, Martin Birch for Iron Maiden. For the Warning that's been 'David Bendeth', producer / contributor / mixer for the excellent and consistent Error album which includes Choke and other The Warning projects such as Enter Sandman
Thanks for this one. Your no BS reactions are what we like. What a great version! This got my wife into these ladies. Haunting for sure. Dark and eerie, too. Really enjoyed seeing you enjoy this surprising track. ⚡⚡⚡
This version of Enter Sandman is from the Blacklist Album recorded during the pandemic with Alessia Cara. The "Oh ah oohs" in the background is the backing track of Alessia's vocals from the studio recording. Bands were told to do whatever they wanted to for the song Metallica chose them to do except keep the lyrics the same. To me this is The Warning's song now. I really can't listen to the original Metallica version after this. EDIT: They recorded this in a about a week to 10 days. Fixed typo
The Metallica team was impressed with the TW version because when they were approached by Marvel Entertainment about using ES in an upcoming video game trailer, Marvel was recommended to use the TW version. The trailer came out a month before the album was released - th-cam.com/video/Wz8Vw5tOf5M/w-d-xo.html - TW doesn't appear in the final game, only this trailer.
May not be a The Warning original, they sure made it their own though. I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one.
*Total Backstory:* During COVID. Metallica wanted to do a charity project too celebrate their 30th anniversary of their *Black album.* The project is called *Metallica Blacklist Album.* They asked around artists to do a cover song from their *Black album.* Metallica told the artist they're allowed to do what they want with the song *EXCEPT THEY CAN'T CHANGE THE LYRICS.* Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara was invited by Metallica to participate. The Warning got involved when a guy who works Internationally for both bands suggested both should do a collaboration. Alessia did her part in Canada. Warning in Mexico due to travel restrictions. The Warning had 8 day deadline when they were asked to participate. *React to the music video.* This song so far is only on the Blacklist album & a video game that didn't sell. *Maybe The Warning will release this song on their Greatest Hits album someday.* Otherwise it's the first song on the over bloated *Metallica Blacklist Album.* Only because the songs are listed in order of the Black Album & then by alphabetical by artist. Cara is first of the 6 versions of *Enter Sandmans* on the Blacklist Album. Followed by 7 cover versions of *Sad But True.* That's just Disc one of four. *Metallica Blacklist Album* didn't sell well since it was very over blouted. Alessia Cara & The Warning did perform this song live when Cara joined The Warning at the Troubadour club (second night) in LA during The Warning's headliner Mayday set in 2022. Now you know.
What makes you say the Blacklist album did not sell well? And then give a reason why it didn't sell well? The album did make the Billboard Top 200. Wikipedia says it got "generally favorable reviews." Maybe you have different information? Just asking the question out of curiosity - I think most everything else you said is accurate and informative. 🙂
Dany, Pau and Ale understood the assignment. The song is available as a single on iTunes/Spotify and is part of the Metallica Blacklist album (4 disc set, or something like that).
I prefer the live version a lotte more than the studio recording. The official video is very nice and well done. If you take in account that it was made mid pandemic with Alessia in Canada and The Warning in Mexico, it's crazy good. But this live is top!
You should give their Spanish song martirio a go..I think they did this version of enter Sandman in 10 days or something like that.nothing surprise me with these girls anymore.they are so talented
DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment! Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice. in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
The Enter Sandman OMV is pretty neat, watch that for your own edification. If you’re looking for your next favorite song by then, react to Dull Knives from The Warning Cave (DeTour)It’s the video that got Lzzy Hale interested in them. No effects, no light show. Just three blistering, face melting rock and roll minutes. Oh by the way, thanks for the Smoking Snakes reviews, they are pretty cool!
They themselves explained that the process was, very ingenious and practical from my point of view, they deconstructed the original and with this made a pop version, then they repeated the steps transforming it back into rock, and... Voilá.! Only geniuses like them (and with their talent, of course) could come up with something so practical and effective as a solution due to the rush, don't you think?! 🤘😁✌️
It took them one week between when Metallica asked Alessia Cara and she asked The Warning for help and they produced this and sent it back to Metallica for approval. This is on the Metallica Blaclist album, which is a 30th anniversary album to the Black album. The album features other groups and singers to do songs from the Black album. I believe this is the only song that was rearranged so much and it makes the song TW's instead of a regular cover. BTW that is Alessia Cara doing the chanting on backing track and not Pau.
If you want to erase any chance of a let down after Choke, do Dull Knives next. There's a video for it from this show, but you really need to do the version from their home studio. The Warning Cave is in the title on YT. You'll know it when you see Ale's black leather jacket. While it probably won't eclipse Choke as a song for you, it is a great song and the performance is pure energy from all 3 of them that I know you'll love.
I would not concern myself with a letdown after a TW song that blew me away. You may well find the next one even more to your liking. There's a saying that one's favorite song by The Warning is the one most recently listened to.
At about 3:48, they are piping in backing vocalists from Canadian Alessia Cara, who they collaborated with on this song, upon invitation from Metallica for the Blacklist album. While a lot of Warning fans will tell you to only watch them live, their studio versions are always excellent, as is the version for this song, with Alessia.
This could have been part of a Three-fer Thursday, with their 2014 cover, and the OMV version of the song, which has a few small differences than this one. Let me know if you need more ideas like this (Four-fer Fridays, Six-fer Saturdays etc), and we'll have you pumping out dozens of Warning songs a weeks. 👍 Edit: Never mind, you already did the 2014 version. The rest of the offer still stands though.
You will also like the music video. The behind the scenes of recording the Enter Sandmand for the Blacklist album is very good. Dany wanted to make this into a lullaby. This song is on the Metallica Blacklist album from September, 2021. The arranged, recorded, mixed and submitted the song in 10 days.
gr8 reaction ... it took them a week, what??? lol ... the song fits the lyrics now ... they did an epic thing with this song ... namaste from canada ... r0ck 0n ... twa ... \m/

As you know, these ladies are going to smoke any song they play. It’s normal and natural for them, those are their standards. They are an elite band that doesn’t lower their standards. Their sound is quality, their talent is amazing, their shows are powerful and they are captivating to look at.
Since this is on Metallica's Blacklist Charity LP, you do have options if you want to own the song. TW sells it as a single on download. Metallica sells the box set in both CD or Vinyl plus an MP3 download. Amazon has all of them. The box sets are pretty amazing. DPA did an unboxing of their box after Metallica sent it to them. The 7 LP set is done in alphabetical order for all the artists, and Alessia Cara & DPA was the first song, on disc 1.
Oh, everyone likes this version better than the original. If no other reason than it’s a breath of fresh air for a classic. & the studio/video version is almost a whole other version with the full Alessia vocals and Pau doing the prayer super creepy. They’ve also done it live with strings because why not! th-cam.com/video/qFTUU8KPh-4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Ld6KHhGmCrryUovr (fan-cam)
It was a daunting task. Since they had already done it so many years before they had a head start. People already gave you the scoop so I won’t repeat. An enchanted version for sure.
The Warning nuevamente demuestra su enorme capacidad de composición e interpretación con su cover original de Enter Sandman el mejor tema del album de Blak List de Metallica
Just to clarify, can someone confirm for me that it was Alessia Cara that received the invite from Metallica, and her team brought The Warning on board? She is a Grammy-winning artist in her own right, and yet always seems to get written out of the lore of The Warning's re-imagined version of Enter Sandman. As someone who prefers her vocal part and the bigger contrast in style of the music video version, I like to remind those who dismiss her vocal contribution in favor of the live Teatro CDMX version that the song might not exist without her.
Yes, she was asked first and then reached out to them. They are the ones who actually picked Enter Sandman and she agreed wholeheartedly knowing they covered it before. And although some fans may not always credit her part, the girls always acknowledge Alessia every time they perform it live.
I knew you'd love this one. It's off the Metallica Blacklist album, where multiple artists have done covers of the Black album songs. Here's some numbers for ya. This is one of 53 tracks on the album, on TH-cam Music it's the 5th most listened song on the entire album, the most listed to version of Enter Sandman, it's been listened to 4 Million times, beating the next version of Enter Sandman by by 1.1 Million. That's also the studio version on the album, who knows how many more times it would have been listened to if this live version was on the album, as with a lot of The Warning songs, a well recorded live version often is better than the Studio version.
While The Warning is always better live, you should take a look at the studio version of this song which is on Metallica's Blacklist album, it's a collaboration with Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara. The other music video you should also check out is their song XXI Century Blood.

Fixed typo
Black*list* album 😉
The Metallica team was impressed with the TW version because when they were approached by Marvel Entertainment about using ES in an upcoming video game trailer, Marvel was recommended to use the TW version. The trailer came out a month before the album was released - th-cam.com/video/Wz8Vw5tOf5M/w-d-xo.html - TW doesn't appear in the final game, only this trailer.
Some TWA fans don’t feel this should be in their regular set list because it’s a “cover”, but to me it is an original (and popular with audiences). 😎👍
yeah, it is definitely not a cover 👍
@@WaldoKitty definitely not a 'cover'...a full reimagining of an iconic song. The Warning own's their version.
I love this one.
you can't get disappointed watching and listening to ANY song on the Teatro Met concert
It is so nice of Metallica to have written a song for The Warning 😊😊😊😊
The warning the best band of rock 2023-4-5-6-7-8.........forever !! Legend !!
The harmonies are so good it makes this version for me. Great reaction DPA always deliver. 🤘⚡🔥
This song is dope …
*Total Backstory:*
During COVID. Metallica wanted to do a charity project too celebrate their 30th anniversary of their *Black album.* The project is called *Metallica Blacklist Album.* They asked around artists to do a cover song from their *Black album.* Metallica told the artist they're allowed to do what they want with the song *EXCEPT THEY CAN'T CHANGE THE LYRICS.*
Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara was invited by Metallica to participate. The Warning got involved when a guy who works Internationally for both bands suggested both should do a collaboration. Alessia did her part in Canada. Warning in Mexico due to travel restrictions. The Warning had 8 day deadline when they were asked to participate.
*React to the music video.*
This song so far is only on the Blacklist album & a video game that didn't sell. *Maybe The Warning will release this song on their Greatest Hits album someday.*
Otherwise it's the first song on the over bloated *Metallica Blacklist Album.* Only because the songs are listed in order of the Black Album & then by alphabetical by artist.
This version is spectacular 🤘
They have done at least 5 versions of ES now. In Oct they did 3 shows with a string section from a symphony backing them.
4 renditions... original cover, reimagined w/ AC, reimagined live, reimagined w/ 10piece string section...
@@WaldoKitty Original live had Pau do the prayer, switched to Dany doing it.
@@phsjockstrapDon't forget that Ale has done the prayer live last year.
The Warning's rendition of Enter sandman, it's awesome and unique. TWA❤
You should give their Spanish song martirio a go..I think they did this version of enter Sandman in 10 days or something like that.nothing surprise me with these girls anymore.they are so talented
Excellent reaction
Thank you man.
You should check out the Enter Sandman video they did with Alessia Cara. That’s the version that’s on the Blacklist album
one week... included mixing, mastering and video!!!!!!!!! In the full middle of pandemic period and with alessia cara thousands miles away from them!
Well, the video came later. Not many of the Blacklist songs had a proper video but it made absolute sense for TW to do one.
DPA/TW and Alessia Cara certainly understood the assignment!
Alessia Cara is a Grammy winning Canadian Pop and R&B singer... they had 10 days to rip this rendition of *Enter Sandman* from the ether and make it a darker, more eerie, and a more haunting lullaby than the original metal version... this was done because they, and many other artists from numerous genres, were invited by Metallica to take one of the songs from the original "Black" album, keep the lyrics and change it up how ever you like... play it backwards, upside down, whatever... this was all for the 30th anniversary of the "Black" album... all the submissions from 50someodd artists were put on the 2021 "The Metallica Blacklist" album... the proceeds from the album sales are split 50/50 with half going to Metallica's "All Within My Hands Foundation" and the other half being donated to a charity of the participating artists' choice.
in the OMV, Dany (guitar) and Alessia share the lead vocals until they are in the three doorways when Dany takes over and Alessia does more of the background oooohs and aaaahs... the version they play in concert has Dany doing the vocals with a backing track of Alessia's ohhhs and ahhhs... of course Ale (bass) and Pau (drums) join in with their angelic harmonies in both... this is a fantastic reimagining of the iconic original... this 60+ year old rocker loves both versions of *Enter Sandman* but this one by TW and Alessia gets more airtime these days 😹
TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
The Enter Sandman OMV is pretty neat, watch that for your own edification. If you’re looking for your next favorite song by then, react to Dull Knives from The Warning Cave (DeTour)It’s the video that got Lzzy Hale interested in them. No effects, no light show. Just three blistering, face melting rock and roll minutes. Oh by the way, thanks for the Smoking Snakes reviews, they are pretty cool!
Don't forget that Gibson Explorer Dany is playing was gifted to her from Lzzy Hale while they were on stage playing live! rock n Roll!!
🤘😁✌️
So enjoyable to see a reactor genuinely bask in the ambiance of a great number.
If anyone asks me to play Enter Sandman on my stereo, I will play The Warning’s version. I really love it. 🤘😎❤️⚠️
Excellent choice to ease back into after Choke 👍🏼
A lullaby for nightmares! First track of the Metallica Blacklist album. All done in just one week. Yes, that's how good DP&A are.
Edit: Never mind, you already did the 2014 version. The rest of the offer still stands though.
😂
You will also like the music video. The behind the scenes of recording the Enter Sandmand for the Blacklist album is very good. Dany wanted to make this into a lullaby. This song is on the Metallica Blacklist album from September, 2021. The arranged, recorded, mixed and submitted the song in 10 days.
gr8 reaction ... it took them a week, what??? lol ... the song fits the lyrics now ... they did an epic thing with this song ... namaste from canada ... r0ck 0n ... twa ... \m/
Hermosa versión dé un tema icono del Rock, por nuestras Diosas del Rock para la Black List de Metallica, excelente reacción hermano, saludos y bendiciones desde Monterrey México 😃👍👍👍
Great reaction! Thank you. Épico cover de un clásico
As you know, these ladies are going to smoke any song they play. It’s normal and natural for them, those are their standards. They are an elite band that doesn’t lower their standards. Their sound is quality, their talent is amazing, their shows are powerful and they are captivating to look at.
🔥🔥🔥🔥ROCK ON THE WARNING 🤘🤘🤘🤘
The Warning = Alejandra (Ale) 🎸🎤+ Paulina (Pau) 🥁🎤+ Daniela (Dany) 🎤🎸 Villarreal. Three talented Mexican sisters. !!!🎵ole ole ole oleeee Warning Warning🎵¡¡¡. Greetings from Argentina.
This song belongs to them now.
An absolute masterpiece!
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Breathed new life into a worn-out classic.
It was a daunting task. Since they had already done it so many years before they had a head start. People already gave you the scoop so I won’t repeat. An enchanted version for sure.
While live is always better, the video for this is pretty good. Alessia couldn't be there for that shoot either, so there are some projections of her.
YEEAAAA🤘😎

Sir, I am going to say that I haven't heard any song that The Warning has covered, re-imagined or given us from their selves is bad. Also, agree that if there WERE to be a bad song, it still would kick my behind, much as you said in the 2 fer Tuesday of 'When I Am Alone'. Thank you for your channel.

You should watch their video of enter Sandman I thought it was brilliant
Took a week to re-arrange, record, mix and master this for the BlackList album.
I personally prefer Dani doing the vocals over Alessia Cara on the studio cut.
This is electrifying, being live also.
I like this one better than the original too. I actually started liking the original because of this one. Not a big Metallica fan either 🌠🔥👍🌎🌏🌍🥁🎶🎯☠️💀🇲🇽🇺🇸🎸🕯️🙏🌪️🤘🌌🎵✌️🎼🎹⚡⚠️⚡⚠️⚡⚠️
The Warning being The Warning.

It’s on Spotify, not an album. Narcisista is the same.
It's on the Metallica Black Album, track 1. It's not on a Warning album.
The Metallica Blacklist album - available on iTunes, etc. or limited edition vinyl sets.

Old school Metallica fan, but damn. I like this version better. Recorded to the Metallica blacklist album. Track one. Side one. Album one. Yep. 🤟💯❤️⚡⚡⚡
It took a week ! Under a dead line to get it on the Metallica black list album.
Are you sure it’s not a The Warning song? 😂
LOL, surprise! You thought you were reacting to a cover but you got a legit The Warning song instead! One of my favorite comments ever was when someone said "It sure was nice of Metallica to write such a great song for The Warning!" 🤣
Hey brother, I'm not sure if you do band documentaries - Anyway, it would be really cool if you could check out the Tidal Rising documentary from The Warning.
Do people watch reactions to that kind of thing? I guess I just figured people would want to hear the stars talk... I do not see how some no name chump like myself could add any gravy.
@@victorycast Understood, but I think you underrate yourself. We each see things from different perspectives. You would see things I would miss, and I could add my own insight and feedback via comments. Not quite as good as a group discussion, but your followers could still find value. Just a thought.
@@MarkBtvd I am finding that out now, and I am enjoying it.
Such a great rendition of this song. I like it more than the original. Which for me has been overplayed, and probably my least fav from the black album. Rock on \m/ (TWA)
Metallica Who...This was Extremely good the first time and spectacular the 300th time... Metallica should cover a The Warning song.. it's only fair.. Thanks again, good job. See ya Tuesday?🤘🎶☮️
