Hi Claudia, you've got a LOT going on, but it will be marvelous!!!! I know you are tired but excited !!! Just think how wonderful it will feel digging into your beds soon!!! Enjoy the process 😊
Kim you brighten my day. Thank you for your kind words and positivity, it means so much. I keep telling myself, remember the end girl. 🥰 I hope you’re having a beautiful day.
There’s been a lot Peggy. 🥴 But I am learning so much, and I feel like a kid watching everything come together, it’s so exciting. How’s your beautiful garden coming along?
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia July in Florida = Weeds and Mosquitoes 🦟🤯 Actually, it looks pretty good. I'm trying to spend a little time every morning and weed, plus planting and pruning. I'm trying to make 2-3 videos each week. I see you are doing well on subs👍
You’re so good!! I need to catch up on your videos. It gets harder and harder with so many projects going on at once, but I definitely need to make more. 😆
Hey there! This is an amazing undertaking! I too am just planting up my dahlias in raised beds due to voles eating at the tubers.... (sad face) in July. But I think we still have a good 2 months of extraordinary growth and enjoyment!
This. Is. Awesome. As weird as it sounds, I LOVED seeing the dry well install. We need one - a big one - and your video convinced me that this is not a DIY project. (Duh.) If you feel comfortable recommending your dry well installer, please let me know in a reply.
Ahh! That’s makes me so happy that this was helpful!! Are you in PDX? I definitely don’t mind sharing our contractors, I’ll ask him first before I put his information out here. It was pretty incredible watching it come together. 🤩
Aww that’s awesome!! I contacted our excavation contractor he was fine with me sharing his information. It’s PQW Excavation. The owner is Vicente and his number is (971) 292-9917.
Aww thanks Khay!! It’s a Ruby Falls Redbud, and I picked it up at Farmington Gardens. They had a pretty nice selection of them when we picked this one up. 🥰
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia Thank you very much for your response, they’ve 3 locations which one that have Red Bud selections? Thank you, I really love your channel I’m learning from you hopefully some day I can have a nice garden. Please keep posting videos.
Aww thank you so much Khay, you’re so sweet, and that really motivated me. So I got this one at Farmington Gardens located on Farmington rd., their big location. If they don’t have it, check out Cornell Farms. I know some nurseries are getting low on some trees this time of year, so keep that in mind. Check them out, if you can’t find one let me know and I can help you find one. 💞
Aww thank you!! I still can’t believe all the work we did this last summer. I think the most updated video would be the cut flower garden tour: th-cam.com/video/ucMtLXbN6jY/w-d-xo.html We never got around to planting all the trees because of the other projects we were involved in, so this Spring will be a big planting season. I’m excited to share those projects with you guys. 🥰
I would say planting trees that can grow enormous is not a good idea. Speaking from experience. We have inherited very old and very large trees when we bought our house. I can tell you that we’ve spent around $40,000 to get them removed. And it’s not the worst part. The worst part is finding tree people that have cranes tall enough to handle this kind of jobs. Another thing is to consider that these trees can and do fall on your and your neighbor’s houses, especially pines. I can’t tell you how many nights I was awake in my house praying that our 150 ft white pine doesn’t wipe out my house, because it was loosing a lot of limbs during storms that damaged my roof. Another thing is to consider that these big trees need a lot of nutrients and moisture to thrive. They will suck out the life from everything near and nothing will be growing underneath them. I was always wondering why people plant such large trees so close to their houses when they clearly don’t belong there.
Wow those are really great points. When we talked to our arborist he said he can maintain it at 15 feet, like he has for other clients. But after removing larger trees, I definitely don’t want the next owners to have that issue, so I will discuss it with him further. Thank you for sharing your insight and your experience, it’s always helpful to get other peoples perspective. 🥰
@@InTheGardenWithClaudia That’s what I was thinking. If someone who is not gardener will move it I doubt that they will maintain the size and these trees grow at least a foot a year. Before you know it you have a monster on your hands. 😂
Why so many trees? I would have thought 5 for the size of your back yard unless they're dwarf or you're creating a Food Forest. Did I hear you say a Filbert/Hazelnut - great choice! Definitely not a black Walnut, the ground is a black slimy mess under the canopy and there's a gas or something they emit that kills many plants. Trees take up a lot of nutrients and water. You might want to consider a super duper extensive drip system. Otherwise your beds may become as dry as desert even if you water deeply. I am amazed your Arborist didn't mention the number of trees and how much they will grab the water and nutrients from the other plants and other trees. Also what happens when you sell, the new owners may not have a clue about trimming trees to "keep them in check." You might be able to dig and sell them now before the bushes & perennials go in....I highly encourage it. Your water collection basin is awesome, hopefully it is designed to water your many, many trees. Claudia I'll be looking forward to your next vid for this property... maybe a peek inside, please? You have so many project a progress report on any of them would be great. I am a sub now so that I won't miss any : D
Katherine, I don't know how I missed some of your comments. 🤭 We are definitely planting a lot of trees, but most of them are dwarf sizes and others are easier to maintain. If we were going bigger trees, then I would absolutely only grew a few. I've never experienced Walnut Trees, but I don't gardeners have a hard time with them in the garden, so I'd stay away too.

me more, is there a specific reason you like it better?
