Hi guys! Today's video on beginner nail art hacks you need to know is my entry to the Sally Beauty "sally crew" competition! The competition ended in 2020 and I ended up deferring! Thank you all for your support :)
Today I'm teaching you four nail art hacks you need to know to get started with nail art! We're going over how to use striping tape properly, how to use dotting tools to create other shapes, the perfect gradient nail art, and how you can use acetone for nail art too! It's so fun to mess around with! Just make sure you don't do too much cause it'll start to ruin the base color underneath haha! I learned that one the hard way 😝

Ages ago, I asked you what a specific polish was behind you. You replied very quickly, and it was OPI Amazon, Amazoff, which I then bought, and like you, used once, as it is HELL to remove. I have been continually impressed with how much you interact with your audience. You seem to be a genuinely lovely person, and I wish you every success in the world. I do have a question/suggestion. I would love to know how your nail polish tastes and preferences have changed since you first started using polish, or things or techniques you don't like. For example, I have always gravitated to very dark colours (my all time favourite colour ever is OPI black cherry chutney), but as I'm getting older, I'm leaning towards neutrals and much softer colours. What about you? Much love xxx

In the part where you showed us the water marble acetone trick you said you might want to use a top coat. I was just wondering if you used a top coat before putting on the diluted polish on that clip because it turned out great !
Thats a great question, I actually didn't use top coat before but if you want to go over the area a few times, you probably should otherwise it'll eat away at that base color haha!!

I really hope you win!!!! Plus I hope this gets you lots of new subbies 🤞 🤞 🤞!!!! And OMG 🤯 mind blown. I DID NOT ever think of using a white base for gradients! I always do lightest color and sometimes it DOES get muddy. Can you tell us how you did that holo gradient? Usually I end up with a lot of glitters and no base color so it doesn’t look like what you did it just ends up bumpy and desaturated!!!!

I had a nail polish 101 questions about french tips: if you don't have striping tape, what other products can you use to make a french tip? i've tried using regular scotch tape, but my nails a bit more curved, so it never sits on my nail flat and there's never a clean line when i peel the tape off. any tips?

Your FIRST nail art was _water-marbling???_ OMG, were you ever *ambitious!* I was a nail tech/cosmetologist starting way back in 1981, and even _I_ have never attempted a water-marble! Was that first video you watched Colette at My Simple Little Pleasures? Believe it or not, but her channel was my very first TH-cam subscription, way back 12 or 14 years ago! Now I am a gel polish girl, and if I feel like wearing very long nails, I apply my own acrylic overlays, with or without extensions.
Good luck getting the Sally's Ambassador thing! I didn't know they cared that much about their nail products. It sure doesn't show in their stores, where they have barely any nail stuff, and what little they DO have is outrageously expensive! That's why they sell "memberships," constantly have sales and inundate your email box with "offers" and coupons every day, a lot like Michael's, TBH.
Haha it was actually a little video on Tumblr for an article of "things to do when you're bored", I didn't really have many hobbies and I remember I was always looking up things to do. This was back before TH-cam was very big so I didn't even know it existed lol!
