When I do advanced stamping, I always color in the design and let that dry by itself on the stamper, but instead of putting smudge free top coat on the stamper, I paint my nail with the top coat, but don't let it dry all the way. When you stamp the design onto your nail when the top coat isn't dry fully, it will stick. It's much easier and much faster than putting top coat on the stamp, letting that dry, and then peeling it off!!
I was going to say the same thing. Much easier to stamp directly onto the nail after painting on the stamp, than it is to make a decal. I love all these designs though. You always do a beautiful job and I love your videos!
Bahaha! I paused the video after the first advanced (or reversed) stamping nail and then saw you use the peel off base on the next one. Maniology also has a "sticky base coat" for that and the Orly Bonder works great too! :-)
I often use one of those silicone mats to do stamp art on and make decals (stamp onto a layer of topcoat to make it peelable). Basically, exactly what you do, but I have chronic pain which makes holding the stamper difficult so doing it on the mat is easier on me. I'll make all the decals I need, then apply then all at the same time to help prevent smudging too.
It's also useful sometimes with regular stamping. I was stamping mermaid scales on my nails and the lines were so thin they didn't want to stick properly until I applied a layer of a sticky base coat on my nails over my base colour, then they stamped like a charm.
Thank you for posting this video! I love that your just learning and still did the video. It still helps newbies like me because people comment on things that may work better😃
I used the Sally Hansen insta-dri nail polishes for stamping when I first started using stamps. But, I agree with you that once you use stamping polishes, you’ll never go back haha.
Extremely helpful!!! I hadn't been doing my nails for years (health issues so stuck in bed) so just getting back into them as i prepare to launch a crochet youtube tutorial channel, so i had no understanding of any of this stuff! Thanks so much!!💜💜💜
The first advanced stamping design was actually so cute!!! Even if it wasn't perfect I think the idea of it with the negative space and stamping on a line is really cool! My fav has to be the shell one, Diamond Rain is probably the prettiest thing I've ever seen 😍😍😍
@@KelliMarissa Yeah it definitely takes some practice, but after a few tries you'll be a master. And an advanced stamping compilation would be awesome. 💜
This tutorial was great! More stamping please! I keep buying more stamping polishes and plates!! It's so much fun!!! Thank you for keeping us entertained! :)
Kelli, American Classics YELLOW STOPPER works likes a peel off base coat [though not its intended use]. That said, it also provides that "tacky" surface for advanced stamping. Great vid! Thanks for sharing!
I do the 2nd method - color in the design on the stamper... let it fully dry... put a coat of clear top coat on the nail, and stamp when it is almost dry -just tacky. i will also stamp onto several different stampers, using several colors, and sometimes let them dry overnight in a drawer, so theyre ready to slap on the next day. :) so fun!
I don't use a peel off base coat but instead use a sticky base coat. It works the same way. Also I usually have trouble with my stamp picking up off the stamper while I'm trying to fill it in so I use the smudge free top coat over the design on my stamper before coloring it in. I love your videos Kelli! Thanks for all the advice, techniques and swatch videos! Keep 'em coming! ❤
I totally use Orly Bonder over my base to create a sticky coat and stamp all my dried reverse stamping onto my nails that way. The Bonder stays tacky for a while so you can even stamp multiple layers well. And it doesn’t peel up like the peel off base does. 👍 Great vid! Loved seeing your designs as always. I want to see more 😍✨💕
The last technique can also be done without using a peeloff basecoat, you can spray your nails with hairspray or you can use foil glue. Both works great. ❤️
I love stamping! Watching stamping nail art videos are one of the most soothing things in the world for sure. Perfect and relaxing vid way to end weekend! Also, if you put nail polish on the plate in one direction you'll get crisper and less bubbly image if you scrape in a different direction. Maybe you'll try it out! Cheers!
Lol it was definitely game changing when I learned about using a sticky base on the nail for reverse stamping too, I just use the Orly bonder base coat because it also creates a sticky layer. Awesome video! I look forward to seeing you practice reverse stamping 😊
I was changing my polish this morning and decided to play with my stamping polish set. I figured the mani was coming off, so it didn't matter if I messed up. Far from perfect, but I learned to be bold and just go for it. It was so cool to see your video today, because it makes me want to try again. I loved the gradiant stamp the best, so that is my next attempt.
Oh I loved this video sooooo much!!!! My favorite was the red with the black and gold. Loved the orange and black last one also. Heck .... I loved them all. Thx Kelli.
I like these stamping videos even though I don't have any of the stuff to do it. Once I watch more though I'll probably feel comfortable enough to do it and will buy some 💜💜💜
I love nail stamping and I've been wanting to try some advance stamping techniques but wasn't sure the best way to do it but now I'm totally going to try that last one cause that seemed a lot easier than creating a decal and trying to put it on your nail. More please!
When I'm doing advanced stamping or even working with my hand painted decals before I peel the image up I put a thin layer of either top coat or clear polish down on my nail so the image has something to stick to and the fresh polish also kind of "melts" the dry top coat helping it to stick better.
I love your videos. I have had stamp plates for quite some time but always had trouble with them. I finally gave it another try about a week ago. Thank sooo much for the tutorials. 👍🏽👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Ohhh I love the last manicure as my top pick!! It turned out so good!! 😍🕹🧡 I should test out if that technique works the same way with Holo Tao's Peely Base.
I have not did stamping in years but i took my old nail polish off before watching this video because i knew i was gonna find some new idea's i love videos like this 🙂
Hi there! You can also use a sticky base coat instead of the UNT (I use Orly Bonder) to stick on your reversed stamping! You’re going to be hooked now 😘
This is the first video I watched to find out about stamping...I had never heard of it until a few weeks ago (hahaha). Just tried it for the first time today too. I ordered a few things from Maniology, Hit the Bottle(Australia) & Meliney (Australia). Just strated getting back into nail polish after about a 20 year lapse!
I just love your stamping videos, and your site. I'm just wondering if you have a video on your routine for keeping your cuticles looking so perfect? Thx for all of your videos! 🙂❤
This was EXCELLENT! I love to see more advanced stamping techniques. They really don't have to be perfect because practice makes perfect. It's just important to present the ideas. It's nice to see things that are not perfect because it makes me feel better about my stamping which is not always perfect. It is frustrating to watch perfect stamping because it's really hard to be satisfied with my less-than-perfect assigns. I can't wait till your next video :-) :-)!
Loved this! I finally tried stamping and it's awesome 😄. I've been missing out. My favorite design was the second one cause that is exactly what I want to do when I repaint my nails this weekend. I even got out my vantablack polish to test it out on my silicone mat 😆
I have been so inspired by your videos! I just found your channel and I bought my first set of nail art tools, stamper, waterbased polishes, and empty nail polish bottles to mix my left over polishes into new colors! My deliveries are trickling in over this week and next week. I am so excited to try out some of your techniques!
Oh my gosh you are going to have so much fun! Nail polish and nail art are a great hobby to get into (especially these days!) - it's such a stress reliever and a great self care activity, plus it's so fun haha
If you want to do reverse stamping without peel off base coat i think you can also use a sticky base coat. Maniology has one. I haven't tried it but I heard it works for reverse stamping.

20:15 you can also "drybrush" your nail with a tiny bit of topcoat & then the design will stick as well
tbh i used to think stamping was cheating at nail art, but your channel has convinced me that stamping can still be artful and artistic.
Quit apologizing! These were fun and great! Love to see more!❤️❤️

The Orly bonder works really well instead of peel off base coat, too. Great tips, and yes - more advanced designs, please!! ❤️❤️❤️
