Lol. I commented about Numrich right before you mentioned thats where you ordered from
The internet has definitely been part of the reason for the decline in gunsmith careers.
Now imagine if the govt wins the fight to stop internet gun part sales. Although I assume this guy might be exempt, it would put the dealers out of businesa.

There will always be a need for professional gunsmiths.
Firearm restorations and many firearm problems and upgrades require competent and experienced gunsmiths in order to avoid screwing up. There is a lot of demand to restore old firearms as well, but the number of individuals who can partake such work with patience and execute it properly are rare to find.

I'm very jealous professor, been wanting one of those forever; have too many other projects but definitely on the bucket list. Great video!

It is also recommended to replace the hammer spring on a Broomhandle, especially if you plan on shooting it as the spring force of cocking the hammer also contributes to slowing down the rearward travel of the bolt under recoil so you don't unnecessarily batter the gun if you decide to shoot it. Who knows how old the hammer spring is in your gun, just best to replace all the springs in the gun that you can.

Nice find! Definitely on my list! There’s a company called lugerman that specializes in Lugers and broomhandles. They do original refinishing and make a lot of parts. If numrich doesn’t have it, I’m sure they will.

    Thank you for the video.
I’m curious where you got that magazine spring from. I had a C96 with a similar broken magazine spring like yours. I remember I purchased one from someone named kbtacticalstar, but it was too small and not as long as the original magazine spring. It was way out of spec and when I tried to stretch it longer to match the original, it just snapped in half. It was a piece of crap and I filed a bank dispute afterwards because the seller wouldn’t accept returns for their bad quality product. I would be weary of buying spare C96 parts from that seller.
Just recently I picked up another C96 magazine spring, but this time from another eBayer named albatross00. It was advertised as a Norinco military arsenal replacement magazine spring for the C96. I compared it to the original and the Norinco spring was identical in length and spring tension to the original. It functioned perfectly in my C96.
From what I can tell about your particular pistol, is that it is not 100+ years old yet. Your example was made in the 1930s, designated as the model M30, it had the two piece “step barrel”, as opposed to the barrel and upper receiver as a single machined piece. Not many M30 C96s saw service in the German military, but many were sent to China and are worn out just like your example.
Overall, you did a great job in putting the pistol back into operable condition.

@@1234jhanson 7777star is kbtacticalstar I bet. They have a separate website which sells the exact same items they sell on ebay.

So...did your C96 shoot ok at the range? Or did you have to trim your firing pin spring down for cartridge detonation?

Would you have to SBR it if you put the stock on it?

Great question. This Guns particularly excluded from being an SBR class weapon from the ATF.
