I'm unsure if you saw the JAL explorer pass, but I found it cheap to book because flights are cheaper than just booking them on credit card points. I'm going from Osaka to Okinawa in October, and round-trip flights would be $350-ish for 2 people on a JAL explorer pass.
The pineapple juice had its own storyline! lol We did something similar with United and ANA. We were able to transfer from Chase miles to United to upgrade our flights. We also transferred points to get a 5-star hotel! Now it's back to saving our points again for our trip next year!
Is the flight back more expensive is because of the flight day (generally more cheaper from Sunday to Thursday and generally more expensive on Friday and Saturday)? Secondly I'm a Montrealer but I've been calling Fukuoka my home for the past almost 4 years. So if you have advice in Fukuoka, give me a shout.
@@W.i.l.l._Nguyen ah I’m flying back on a Sunday that might be why? 😂 oh wow!! Would love some recommendations for Fukuoka! Feel free to drop some links !
Agreed! Earn and burn is the theme these days. Lol I don’t really try to maximize too much - I just see it as a nice bonus instead of seeing it as “currency” . Where did you spend the points at?
@@itsgracehui All 4 Million AA miles went to Cathay Pacific and JAL First Class over the years. Grand Hyatt Bali, Park Hyatt Tokyo for ~ 1.4 Mio Hyatt points. Marriott here and there wherever it was convenient.
Hey this is a dope vid! Just wanted to share some info I have about flights within Japan. I recently booked 2 one-way tickets from Hiroshima to Tokyo for $70 each with ANA (includes 1 checked bag per person). On Cathay Pacific it shows that would have cost 10,000 Asia Miles for each ticket. 10,000 Asia Miles is worth $125 in cash value (when transferring from Canadian Amex to Asia Miles). In this case for me using cash was quite a bit cheaper than using points. I also booked 2 one-way tickets from Tokyo to Osaka for $54 each although this flight is with JetStar (purchased 1 checked bag to split between the 2 of us. this cost is included in the $54). Again, on Cathay Pacific it shows 10,000 Asia Miles (although it should be 7,500 according to the miles chart, no tickets were available for that amount). All in all, what would have cost me 40,000 Asia Miles (50,000 Amex pts which is $500 cash value), actually cost me less than $250.
@@itsgracehui depending on how many Avion pts u have, consider waiting for the 30% bonus transfer event to Avios. Then u can use the Avios to book first class tickets on Qatar Airways QSuites to pretty much anywhere while getting a free layover in Qatar :) This the BEST use of Avion imo.

Thank you!! Have fun ❤️ the JAL explorer pass is such a great alternative to JR pass!!! I’m also headed to Okinawa as well later this year!
Hey idk if u have a refund option on those tickets but JetStar has roundtrip flights Osaka to Okinawa for as low as $100 in October this year.

Enjoy the upcoming trip! How is flying into NRT? Have only used it as a transfer, usually fly into HND.
So this will be my first time leaving from NRT actually! I usually fly into HND as well - its much more convenient. Will report back!
Not only was this an awesome video content wise, the backing track was 🔥
Ty for watching!! I try 😅
I burned all my points right in time before all the programs went to shit.
