Bravely Default 1 on the 3DS will forever be the hidden gem of the system.
It was such a fantastic return to form for classical JRPGs with by far the best art style and soundtrack of any 3DS game by a mile. It's a shame that the sequels haven't been able to recapture its magic

A BIG game that I always recommend to people is Warioware Gold. The game has the most microgames in the series and brings back microgames from the original, Touched, and Twisted as well. It's also one of the only games where Charles Martinet gets to do full voice acting for Wario. The game has voice acting for EVERYTHING and I wish Nintendo would do this more often outside of just Fire Emblem

My opinion on the franchise is:
1 is perfect, my favourite game on the system, period.
2 is worse, but still very very good.
      3 is between 1 and 2.

    • @dontellaniwone
      @dontellaniwone 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@SLEEP873 I'd say 1 is my favorite game too, but that's more for personal reasons like nostalgia than anything. I think 2 is objectively a better game, though, given how many features and dimensions it adds to the gameplay and the way that is leans into the series's themes and style. 3 is a really fun game with tons of content, but I don't think it does as good of a job following the themes and style of the series.

All Fire Emblem DLC is still available for all games, but can only be purchased within the games themselves. In Awakening, it's through the Outrealm gate. In Fates, it's through the Dragon gate. And in Echoes, it's managed through the menu in the world map. So if you haven't gotten any DLC you want yet, then quickly do so.

Radiant Historia is incredible. That's all that really needs to be said on the matter. The story, gameplay, music, world... just incredible. My absolute favourite 3DS game will always be Zelda A Link Between Worlds though. It's just my comfort game these days, I try and do a 100 percent run every year or two. It just looks so beautiful on the console, especially with 3D on, it's one of the few games I actually play in 3D. Other than that, Virtues Last Reward is incredibly good too (though it can be played on PC, and probably other consoles now, and was on the Vita alongside the 3DS). I'm so sad that the end of the line is finally here for the DS systems, but at least we have been left with an incredible selection of games to enjoy for the rest of our lives. I'll never forget the memories I made playing games like these throughout my childhood.

    Very good list.
I'll throw some more of my own picks in there:
The Pushmo series - I love these games with beautiful pixel art and puzzle solving to reach the flag and win the level.
The Box Boy series - These beautiful box puzzle games from HAL (makers of Kirby) are really cute and can get quite tricky.
Siesta Fiesta - This is a neat game about bouncing your character like a pinball to get a high score and reach the end of each level.
Sakura Samurai Art of the Sword - This is a fun little game where you have to time your attacks to dodge the enemy and deal damage as a samurai girl.
The Mysterious Murasame Castle - The 3DS Virtual Console is the first and thus far only time this NES game has been rereleased. It's basically Zelda 1 but in feudal Japan with a bigger focus on action.
Summer Carnival '92 Recca - A hard as hell NES shoot 'em that was released in English speaking countries for the first time on 3DS Virtual Console.
Harmoknight - A great rhythm platformer made by GameFreak. There are even some Pokémon songs included.

I'm going to go on anabsolute TANGENT with this comment. My love for Fantasy Life goes beyond the game itself. Let's start at the beginning. The year was 2015, and my brother and I went down to visit some family, one member being our incredibly chill uncle. I forgot the exact details but my brother ended up with my uncle's black 3DS XL and a bunch of games like: Harvest Moon, Pokemon X, Ironfall Invasion, Mariokart 7, and of course: VLevels' "Fantasy Life". Like a lot of games my brother got me into, I wanted to stick to my games and my tastes but upon his insistance, I tried out Fantasy Life and was immediately hooked by all the Life options and character customization. The story sealed the deal for me and I was stuck on the game for a solid year. The game means so much to me and not just for the game itself but all the memories centered around it. Sometime soon, my brother will go off to college and leave me at home for 3 years (because he's 3 years older than me). I'm always going to remember this game and how happy it's made me. I can't wait for the next Fantasy Life.

Just watched this and have to point out that I am a huge Yokai Watch fan. I have loved the franchise ever since the first entry, there's so much to adore about them. If I had to pick a favorite one I would say 3, mainly due to the amount of content packed within one game. Although both 1 and the three entries for 2 are incredibly solid as well. I am hoping that with Level-5's return to the States that we will see something else with this series. A great one to pick up if you are fans of collect-a-thons!

Piggy backing off my other comment, also a huge fan of picross as well. I have played tons on the switch but I started playing them on the 3ds. Great games, If I had to choose a favorite I would pick the Pokemon Picross one especially because of the unique feature pokemon tie into the puzzle mechanic. Not only that, but it is free as well!

If you own a 3DS and you haven’t played Ever Oasis, Fantasy Life and Monster Hunter Stories… you’re missing out. In my honest opinion they’re my top 3 favorite games. Nintendo handhelds will never ever ever not have a very special place in my heart. And StellaGlow. Holy shit, StellaGlow. StellaGlow is like baby’s first SRPG, and Monster Hunter Stories is like baby’s first Monster Hunter game… and I don’t mean either of those in a bad way whatsoever. If you’re a casual gamer or even just new to SRPG’s or Monster Hunter series, they’re both notoriously hard to learn, especially if you have no experience and don’t have a ton of time to sink into them right away. Monster Hunter Stories is such an incredible series on its own and one of my all time favorites. But having the familiarity with the monsters and some combat elements really helped me to be better at the mainline Monster Hunter games. And StellaGlow was the first SRPJ that I fully enjoyed and understood and enjoyed the mechanics and story, and didn’t feel like I was just brute forcing my way through the game. It helped me immensely to have familiarity with SRPG’s. I can’t recommend these 4 games highly enough.
I also am a very very very big fan of Professor Layton games and the Ace Attorney series. I know they’re probably the most well known but goddamn are they fun and addictive.
And Mononoke Forest. Such a cute little animal collecting and town building game. I never see it mentioned.

Glad you mentioned Yo-Kai Watch. I don't have the Blasters games, but I have the 3 main ones on 3DS (and playing through 4++ on PS4, wish that one would get localized). Such a great series. I would also recommend Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure if you enjoy rhythm games. Etrian Odyssey fans have one other piece of good news to look forward to this year: The first 3 games are getting remastered on the Switch. Before anyone gets TOO excited though I have to warn people that I honestly don't know if the remasters of the first 2 games are the "Untold" versions on the 3DS or the original versions on DS. The 3rd game never got the "Untold" treatment *& has been exclusive to the DS until recently. Once the 3rd game's remaster comes out in June, people won't need to deal with the scalpers selling the DS version if they genuinely JUST want to play the game!

Id like to recommend "Chase: Cold Case Investigations - Distant Memories" a game made by the developers of Another Code, Hotel Dusk and Last Window (All three on the old DS and very recommended games too),made years after the closure of their studio, under the wings of a new one, niche and atmosferic title where you play as a pair of detectives, interrogate suspects and investigate crime scenes.
Also Inazuma Eleven games, theres a few, and just like Yo Kai watch, are games that on first glance are for a younger audience, but are a very solid experience for anyone who pick it up and enjoy it, football games with a lot of characters that you can train and level up, with their own unique skills, etc.

For the just one game thing, it's super dependent on who we're talking about. Like I've gotten so much out of the style boutique/ style savvy games myself, but that obviously isn't for everyone. For JRPGs I still really enjoy bravely default and for a cozy game I think new leaf is even better than new horizons in a lot of aspects. But for the one thing that no other consoles can replace, because a lot these have sequels and ports and the like, I have to go for the streetpass plaza mini games. (With all of them unlocked) Streetpassing all sorts of people and getting to put them in different mini games is something that no other console can do and I'm so glad it's a system that isnt dependent on the online servers so that it wont be shut down.

  • @oak8194
    @oak8194 ปีที่แล้ว +2

3DS really has a great library of games that unfortunately may never get a port, and even if some did, you still wouldn’t get the same experience as they were intended to due to factors such as the dual screen functionality or the 3D effect. So yeah, for those who could, you should get these games while you can.
Also, here’s some of my own recommendations:
    Resident Evil Revelations
    - While there are HD ports on modern consoles, I’d still recommend the 3DS version as the 3D effect looks great and adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game. It’s also a technical marvel they could make such a gorgeous looking game for the 3DS and at least worth a collection in my opinion. I’m quite surprised it’s not on the list here.
    Dead or Alive Dimensions
    - A solid entry for the series on the portable console that keeps both the visuals and gameplay very faithful with its own exclusive story mode, retelling the saga to let people catch up to the latest games. The gameplay is very tight and smooth in 60 fps, however it reduces to 30 fps with the 3D on (but it makes the game look WAYYY better for me). The only downside is the exclusion of newer characters and the almost unplayable, laggy online. But hey, at this point you’re not gonna be going online anymore.
    Street Fighter 4
    - Another fighting game that needs no introduction. If you like SF, you’re gonna like this, it’s the SF4 that we know and love on-the-go with some interesting but ultimately rather gimmicky game mode to make use of the 3D effects.
    Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance
    - Another game that I’m surprised is not on here! This game was made to fully utilise the 3DS’s capabilities and does it well. The gameplay is fun like most KH games, the visual is fantastic and makes great use of the 3D effects. Dual screen and touch functionalities are also used for a very natural interaction such as bonding with your summoned creatures. I can’t recommend this enough!
    StarFox 64 3D
    - It’s the good ol’ StarFox but with better graphics and in 3D. Need I say more?
Also, the ONE game that makes the 3DS worthwhile for me is Monster Hunter 4. At one point, I didn’t buy any new games for the 3DS and only played MH4 for over a year. XD
