IN CASE OF A CREATIVE EMERGENCY: 40. Go to my swipe file.
Relying on your unreliable mind to provide you with ideas when you need them is a fool’s game.
    The professional artist is prepared.
The professional artist acknowledges those who have inspired them first.
The professional artist keeps a swipe file, and opens it regularly, with great expectation.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'In Case of a Creative Emergency' is a list that I bashed out on my typewriter in November 2022. I was facing some pretty bad creative block at the time. I hit the wall of creative block often, as do literally all people who do creative things. I wanted to come up with a list of things I can turn to, when facing the wall of resistance, in order to smash it down and keep going. The list was made up of things that I gave a few days to think about. I tried to draw on my own experiences of what has worked for me in the past, but there are also examples here of things that I haven't really tried yet, but things that I think the use of would certainly help me to exercise my creative muscles.
What started as a list for myself to overcome times when work is a struggle has now developed into a weekly video series where I approach each exercise/idea in an attempt to inspire others. In an incredibly strange and meta way, I've actually overcome creative block by making myself incredibly busy making videos about how I overcome creative block, which in turn helps me to overcome said creative block because I have lots of work to focus on. Like I said, it's all very confusing.

Hi from Russia! I found your channel from recomendations of Van Neistat's videos, who I also get inspiration from. You have this amazing attention to small details and this neither fast nor slow speed of narration. Thanks for your channel and creativity, Andrew!
I'm get inspired from many TH-camrs such as both Neistat's, different russian channels that works HUGE, but... I always literraly drown in my perfectionism - there is not perfect picture, here is not perfect sound, there is not so good light for shooting video, etc. Over and over again I try to create but stop myself in criticism, with cursing to myself that I'm doing sh!t.
Your channel is also inspiration to create, to make. Thank you again, brother.

Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. Do try and let go of perfectionism. My videos are littered with imperfections that I think help to make them special. It feels counter intuitive, but the imperfections are sometimes what makes the work great. Keep going.

Thats nice! I have a moleskine softcover with me almost all the time, where I draw, paint and just write down notes. But I almost never go back for inspiration. Maybe I have to include that somehow. thanks mate.
