  • What's up railfans I went to indy just to watch train's. We Strat off checking out csx Indianapolis terminal sub right out side of Downtown town. Then we mover over to Avon where we see the st Louis sub and csx big four yard. Disclaimer stay away from around the yard there not into railfans they view us as a safety issue. I went to go check out Amtrak's beach grove shop they had a lot of Amtrak gems and a lot of the special veteran units. then I moved back to downtown where I saw the rail grimder and a manifest. lastly we check out Danville Indiana where I saw L388 flying at track speed.
Indianapolis, colloquially known as Indy, is the state capital and most-populous city of the U.S. state of Indiana and the seat of Marion County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the consolidated population of Indianapolis and Marion County in 2020
eech Grove is Amtrak’s primary maintenance facility, where everything from painting, to overhaul, and even complete car rebuilds are performed. The historic campus was originally built in 1904 by the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis (Big Four) Railway, which was later acquired by the New York Central Railroad. In 1968 the shops became part of the Penn Central system, formed with the merger of the New York Central and the Pennsylvania railroads. Amtrak purchased Beech Grove from the bankrupt Penn Central in 1975.
    CSX Indianapolis Terminal Subdivision
    CSX st louis sub
The St. Louis Line Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in the U.S. states of Indiana and Illinois. The line runs from Indianapolis, Indiana, west-southwesterly to East St. Louis, Illinois,[1] along a former Conrail line, partly former New York Central Railroad trackage and partly former Pennsylvania Railroad trackage.
At its east end near Avon Yard, the St. Louis Line Subdivision continues through downtown Indianapolis as the Indianapolis Terminal Subdivision. Its west end is near Rose Lake Yard in East St. Louis, where it meets the Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis. Along the way, the line intersects the Lafayette Subdivision at Greencastle, Indiana, and the CE&D Subdivision and Danville Secondary Subdivision at Terre Haute, Indiana. Its west end is near the west end of the Illinois Subdivision.
    Thanks for watching

I drove from central PA to STL to see KCS before the merger, saw ONE KCS. But I did get to see Terminal RR Asso, BNSF, and UP action. Oh and including Amtrak and their local Metro subway trains. Deff going back sometime to see more. And maybe have a local fbk friend as our tour guide again haha. I have the same scanner, n love it.

The reason why so many locomotives sit over there at the Amtrak facility is because the federal government isn't paying enough for repairs due to lack of demand. So the trains sit there.

Hi Jordan you can get better results using a monopod versus tripod it can be used on the ground or as a big handle it's much better because you can go up and down versus just side-by-side enjoy
