I can't get this installed right. My winch stand is not flat like yours, it is at an angle and the winch post is 2 inches thick and not just a thin flat plate. The holes are drilled thru the winch stand in the right location. I can't use the Fulton F2 bolts becuase they are way too short so I bought some 3" carriage bolts with nuts. Here's the problem -- The upper/center bolt wont stay in place to go thru the holes when I lean it upright against the winch stand. Does this Fulton F2 only work on winch stands that are thin/flat plates? Also when you are tightening the nuts to the winch stand, doesn't it make the entire bolt spin around? I don't understand how it's going to tighten without having a wrench or ratchet inside the winch to prevent the bolt from spinning in circles when tightening

As long as your bolts are long enough I don’t see why it has to mount to a flat plate like this one.
@ 3:50 the carriage bolts slide into the grooved slots and those slots actually hold the head of the bolt. It took putting the winch in place and my finger holding the bolt head down in place to keep it from pushing out - that’s the reason for the low torque specs…because it’s the cast aluminum frame that holds the bolt head.
Hope that helped and you can get it working! It’s been a great winch

How do I know if you assembled it correctly if you didn't use the instructions?

On my winch, I reel like the video so 9 is rollup tighten, 12 neutral and 3 is control release.
