It’s an amazing song. I actually learned a few months ago my Mother’s side of the family is actually Welsh - definitely a pleasant surprise!

This is the third video I’ve seen of you listening to our anthem... you really do love it, eh?! Can’t blame you, it’s bendigedig (fantastic)!
Watching your reaction in this vid, I’d say you were honorary Welsh by now; croeso (croy-soh, like ‘sop’ but without the ‘p’), welcome 😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Just found out this song was called 'Glan Rhondda' (Banks of the rhondda) when it was written. Not sure why I'm telling you this... but I just found out and I had to tell someone. >.<

The video you watched missed the translation of the final line (the line which really is the point of the whole anthem)
o bydded i'r hen iaith barhau = Oh may the old language endure

I love my anthem (SA) but I have to be honest, hearing the Welsh anthem sung in the Millennium Stadium is just on another level. I think I would actually shed a tear if I was there in person. Scotland's anthem is good too but the Welsh take the cake.

Thank you sir for covering it….👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Tears to the eyes, I’m bias mind you from the grew up in South Wales valleys myself, moved home again now, not far, but the valley people are so kind. I miss the place, I went there recently looking fr something I ordered, snd there was such a difference when I live now, they’re just as nice here in my home town, but valley people usually keep promises, do t care about stays nor money, and some of the most poorest, but very homely, loving people, my mothers born in the valleys my father just outside, and they speak so fast, sometimes or most of the time outsiders can’t gasp what they’re saying even when they speak English, I didn’t realise how much I missed the pace until I went there last week. As a child strangers used to say good night, good morning, and if a hurst passed, everyone stopped took of their hats and put their heads Down in respect of the person passing. You don’t get that today anywhere. I’m so glad I caught a generations before me that had that respect for another. It was a wonderful time to grow up in.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Land of my Fathers is the English translation of Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. My Mother was Welsh. I was brought up on this sort of music.

I'm not Welsh, I'm Scots/English, but if you want something REALLY sung, get the Welsh to do it. The choral tradition there is tremendous.
Every other country wishes they had an anthem as good as this one. And could sing it so well.

I think the last line is translated wrong - because 'hen iaith' means old language!

The English translation is bad. It’s “The OLD (‘hen’) country of my fathers.” The last phrase had been dropped totally: “Oh, may the old language continue.” Honi soit qui mal y pense.

Much love from Wales, my team Cardiff had a wonderful Canadian player in Dan Baugh - nasty bugger on the pitch but lovely off it. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Baugh)
You also had one of the best kickers in the world Welsh sounding name - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gareth_Rees_(rugby_union)#:~:text=Gareth%20Lloyd%20Rees%20(born%2030,sides%2C%20including%20Wasps%20and%20Harlequins.
    nice to listen and subbed.
