    My whole recording life and true love has been amps because they were the only thing that gave me that true slight, chimey break up. Til Cory Wong, and now I use that almost every time I need lead and rhythms. Neural is the first company that has brought me to that sound in the box except for the kemper I had and certain profiles.
    I cannot wait to get this box, the ability to capture my amps, but also contain other users captures and Cory, effects, etc all in one is awesome, congrats!

    Sounds pretty darned good to me! In my opinion, it actually doesn't need to be better than the Kemper, even if it's "as good" that will be sufficient. Some people already say the Kemper is so close to the real sound, there is not all that much room for improvement. This product will be a winner if 1) The models are as good as the plug-ins. 2) The capture is as good as the Kemper. 3) The interface is as easy to use as shown. IMHO, if those 3 things come to fruition, this will be a killer product. It will be as if the Helix and Kemper had a baby, so you get all the effects and routing of the Helix, the amazing tones of the Kemper, and best in class modeling via Neurals plug-in tech. All in a modern, durable, and just really damn smart engineering package, with wifi and USB built-in, in a smaller form factor. Next level stuff really.

      @@mehegama I agree their fortin amp vs plugin video was a lot more convincing. I wonder why they wouldn’t just do the direct comparison using the same DI reamped. So we could really hear the difference. This random noodling is kind of pointless

      @scharrface 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      There is actually MAJOR room for improvement in profiling/ capturing. Kempers process is rock solid, but the results are a near perfect snapshot of that tone. You mess with the tone stack, you’re gonna have a weird time. If these guys could improve the realism of the tonestack dynamics of their captures as compared to kemper profiles, they’d have a huge leg up

    19:57 i really hope the refine function is able to listen to the player noodle on the higher register of the fretboard with single note lines and match the EQ for those registers in isolation, and be able to tell the difference in bandwidth if it's being fed chords or single notes. With chording it's legit hard to tell the difference between amp and capture, but with single notes in the high register, the real amp has all of its headroom available to push the single notes, the power amp isn't under load like it is when given the whole chord, there is an extra high chime and a slight scoop to the single notes when it's just single notes by themself... When it switches to the capture, the single notes on their own are reproduced with the same EQ color as the chords, two characteristic differences stick out to me in the single notes, 1. maybe 3dB of extra low mids around 250Hz, and 2. maybe 3dB less of the glassy high end chime, like around 3k or 4k. If the refine function can learn to grab those singled out bell tones up high based on recognizing what bandwidth it's being fed to adjust it's EQ, you couldn't tell at all. Not sure if it's dynamic like that.

    Very much appreciate the more detailed video this time around. Demonstrating more tangible and encouraging detail. Seems to be respectfully close, but so far I feel like I am hearing a fairly noticeable lacking in the high end detail (e.g. bite, clarity, note separation, crispness in palm mutes).
    This observation reaches the level of being close enough to call it a small blanket over the speaker kind of thing, or to say the difference between okay tubes vs great tubes, or perhaps more simply new strings vs old.
    But it is at least better than Kemper as far as I can tell at this point. On the other hand, it seems to be neutering some of the most critical details that are the reason why I spend an excess amount of money on higher end amps, guitars, pickups, cables, monitoring equipment, etc.
    Worst case scenario is it seems like this could be a good convenience option but not good enough to become a replacement for the real gear for this who need/want and can afford the expense to get the last 5%.

    • @Tiger1016.
      @Tiger1016. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matdan2Perhaps, if your monitoring equipment is not that good, it could be difficult to hear a difference, but my gear is pretty much top of the line studio equipment and the differences definitely come though. Although, there is no denying that sound quality is also diminished via TH-cam, it does not homogenize everything into oblivion.

      That’s interesting. Your’re right on the « little more gain » stuff and compression.
      Maybe that’s also the reason why they have more highs in a harsh way. But the Kemper doesn’t add those highs that aren’t related to the natural harmonics and just add in a mix like white noise. « Shhhhiiiiihhhh »
      I think it’s the main issue vs the Kemper.
      Curiously the Ge Labs doesn’t have this issue either.
      I hope they will improve that because it’s a real problem. Not sounding 100% accurate is less important

    Great job there... It sounds amazing!!!.. :D
    Only detail I'm curious about is the palm mute 'bite' difference. Is slightly noticeable from the minute 4:24, but I think is very important
    I'd describe it as a high sound at the very beginning of the contact of the pick and the string. It gives that delicious "knife" to the sound of distorted riffs
    For example, some weeks ago I tried to "get close" to the guitar riff sound of Dream Theater's "Count of Tuscany", from the first verse. But there's no Amp plugin that can give that "bite" in the attack.
    It would be great to clarify that in some future video. Regards and congrats!

      Agree but did not call it just at this single moment. The entire time I could hear a clear missing of higher end details (i.e. bite and clarity) when they switched back and forth. It is enough to call it a small blanket over the speaker kind of thing, or to say the difference between okay tubes vs great tubes, or perhaps more simply new strings vs old.
      But it is at least better than Kemper as far as I can tell at this point. On the other hand, it seems to be neutering some of the most critical details for me and why I spend an excess amount of money on higher end amps, guitars, pickups, and cables. Seems like it will be a good convenience options but not good enough to become a replacement for the real gear for this who need/want and can afford the expense to get the last 5%.

If anybody’s grandfather can play like this you’d be dam lucky. Stop with the ageism and it’s also obvious all you can do is chug. #boringimo. Learn some licks why don’t you. It takes time, lessons, patience and practice. But those chugs take about an hr out of a day to learn. Worry about the product and stop picking apart a great player that you’ll never be. FYI that’s why he’s sitting in a studio with a new cool product and you’re insulting let’s call you #chugs are sitting in your bedroom forever going nowhere. Probably can’t even afford it in the first place. I’m putting an order in for one. I think it sounds great and I don’t need reverb or delay or chorus etc. clean, crunch, high gain for lead.
