@Sgt.Wolfhart one of my teachers in college (many years ago) was German. Some of my classmates asked her how Germany feel about their history. She explained that they DO teach what happened. Germans, unlike Americans, are deeply ashamed of that history. They do not have streets names after Nazis. They do not have statues memorializing them. Germans do not celebrate that history, but they DO learn about it. Which is probably why a German tourist was astonished to see things in a restaurant that would be deemed hateful. The restaurant owner has the right to put up what he wants in his business. Just as the tourist is allowed to be upset or offended by it. Just because America glosses over our troubled history and many still celebrate it or wish to repeat it, doesn't mean Germans do. They know their history, and don't consider it as the "good old days." They don't understand why Americans love to glorify our sordid past.

As a Vet, this man has a private business and he can do what ever he wants, if someone doesn't like the signs then don't go there.
This reminds me of a BBQ restaurant in SC. I always read reviews, we were on vacation, ever negative review the owner got he countered it. If someone complained about the food, he would come back with ," yeah but you got 2 to go plates, didn't you !?" I had to meet this guy ! When we got to the restaurant, I told the waitress how we had read the reviews and the owner came to our table to thank us for coming, he was hilarious !! 😂😂 Best BBQ I've ever had !! ❤❤
