What a surprise to see you on here. I was a fan of Phyllis's for a number of years before she died, when you took over the channel, which I also follow. Love Pete, of course, and we live nearby and see him at the Farmer's Market. TH-cam makes this a small world!

Making hay is the most enjoyable thing that I do on my farm. Amid the break downs and hard work, I still love putting up hay. My wife thinks I'm nuts.
It is great that Pete's Dad is healthy and willing to lend a hand during an emergency. It was probably very nostalgic for him to run the MD over a hayfield in the summer heat trying to beat a thunderstorm. Of course with a time crunch the bailer had to have a flat. It look to me Pete beat a NASCAR pit crew to get a new skin on! Good job, time to open a cold MOXIE and watch the storm roll in.
@@angusmacduff3471 Moxie was the summer time energy drink back in the days prior to "Red Bull", "Monster" and "Jolt" Cola. Growing up in Maine it was the "grownups" soft drink back in the 1960's. At the time I preferred "Ted's" (Williams) Root Beer which I think was bottled at the Moxie plants. Coco-Cola owns the Moxie name now and they either tamed the aftertaste or I handle it way better than I did 50+ years ago.
And Pete knew where to get the right spare.
Just love watching that "older" farm equipment running. Your mechanical ability and the gereal good design of the equipment are a joy to watch. Love the power of your newer tractor. It is obvious in that series.. God Bless, JR
Sitting here thinking about how that smells! The tractor fumes, the sun kissed sweaty skin and of course the hay! Summer is here!! Yay!! Farming is the best way to enjoy this amazing NY weather while it lasts.

Yup, you've got the same "tractor driving grimace" that my grandpa had when driving his tractors back in the '40's. I had forgotten all about that until I saw it plastered on your face. Too cool! Thanks for taking me waaaaay back in time, Pete! I totally enjoyed this windrow hopping episode.

Give a fella a few hours of alone time on a tractor and his creative juices will come up with all kinds of new camera angles, music blends, split screen magic and even the pure sound of farm machinery on a beautiful day. Well done Pete, well done! Thanks for sharing.

So happy you got the hay baled and that your dad was able to help. I still can't get my head around how the belts work inside the baler to make the bale... I liked the commentary for the flat tire, that got a laugh out of me. Thanks for posting.
look up allis chalmers roto baler. It was the first mass produced round baler it mush more open and you can see bales forming

"The Farm" got 1 of 2 IH 45T balers made in late '44. Most young men were in the military so this relieved the kids, old men and women from having to put up loose hay. Dad baled around 2 counties with it 'till the mid 60's'

Haying was always fun when I was a kid staying on the grandparents farm summers. By the way, I also like your choice of music you incorporate with your videos.

I never knew how those huge round bales of hay were made. Thank you for showing us the entire process. It never ceases to amaze me how all the different machines are involved in making the finished product. 25 round bales of hay will feed your animals for quite awhile. I think you still have time to even get a second round for 25 more before fall arrives. Amazing how it all comes together. I really enjoy learning new things that interest me about farming. Thank you for feeding me the knowledge

I will say - I don't remember ever seeing a drone overhead or a go-pro or even a polaroid camera while raking and baling in the 60's and 70's. Sure wish we did. That would have been groovy. Very nice video Houston.
I didn't even see big round bales in the sixties and seventies. Square bales, a rack wagon, and someone riding the wagon pulling bales of the baler and stacking them with a tie bale on top.
@@vincentgranacher2034 You are exactly right. And youngsters unloading the wagons onto an elevator into the barns. With a pile people ranking the bales...always a very hot and steamy time.
NASCAR would been proud of you for that quick tire change. I hope the cows will be enjoying that hay this coming winter. Nice to see both tractors work GREAT....

Times sure have changed, there were no round bales when I was growing up. We had to handle all of the hay bales by hand and my grandfather packed them heavy. Good times 😃

Hay again! Imagine forking hay the old fashion way.. harness the horses - hitch the hay wagon - eat dirt and pitch hay all day. Doing such would make you really appreciate the amazing tractor and all it's back saving mechanized implements. 🚜

There's nothing more satisfying than when your equipment runs the way it should and you get the hay up before rain. Hay looks wonderful. How was the quality and yeild?
Love the video, Pete. In my day we did it the old fashion way. Bucked it by hand. Throw the bales on the trailer, then take a loaded wagon to the hay barn and stack it. We did have an elevator so we could stack it high. But we were young, strong, and enjoying life on the farm. After the day was over we would hit the swimming hole.
I enjoy watching everything that you do for us. From overhauling the MD to watching the cows eat.
That mister is what I and a bunch of people call a slick as frig setup, I even feel pride seeing it work, can't even imagine how you feel
We just bailed a wagon load of hay yesterday here in central pa. We only make hay for a couple of beef cows we raise to butcher every year. Still enjoyable tho. Love the videos Pete
There is NOTHING like mowing, raking and baling, but your afternoon can be spoiled trying to take care of a breakdown while racing the rain schedule. Very good video.
That was funny how you delt with the flat tire. No cussing, no swearing just a simple "Houston we have a problem, standby & zip,. zip, zip," And then back to the real action again. Nice job! So classy

Its 6 a.m. and I'm riding the commuter train to my job in Los Angeles, I remember back in the 70's when I baled hay using old tractors. I lived in town about 1,200 people, some of the local farmers knew me and would come pick me up to bale. Great cinematography, well done!
I am tedding today rake and bale tomorrow. The 7 acres I cut was thick it had been bushhoged for 2 years. It was clogging my hay bine. My first hay season I love it.

The smile on your face after you counted was awesome Pete. I could really tell how proud you were to make that hay. It made me feel good when the first bale rolled out, I feel like I am part of the farm just lucky to watch from Plant City, Florida. God has definitely blessed you already with 25 bales of hay. The sound affects are cool, I had a JD 410 , a cycle bar mower & a hay rake just like yours, I always enjoyed making hay but I only have 1 jersey cow now so I sold my equipment to a buddy ( not the tractor) and I buy my hay, plus the hay fields I was cutting were sold when the old farmer that was letting me cut his fields to keep them from growing up passed away. He & I always had a good time at haying time , he had so mush good advice to give me and lots of good conversation sitting in the shade drinking ice cold tea talking about the GOOD OLD DAYS.
