I've seen one of these objects from about 500 feet away while working in Alaska; and I agree it certainly wasn't swamp gas or a bird or ballon. It's very encouraging to finally see such smart individuals taking this seriously and striving to publicly find answers for us. I eagerly await their discoveries
Do you know what all the types weather balloons and high altitude science platforms look like? No trying to call you out but if I saw a genuine ufo finding out what it was would consume my life.
I can chime in on something I saw once... I walked into my bedroom about 3-4am to go to bed, and saw a kind of expanding light (I don't remember the colour) out the window. It looked sort of like a firework in how a small point of light expands outwards. In fact I thought it was a firework so I went to the window to watch a free firework show. There was a small white light that would grow in size (or intensity) and then dim back down to either a small light or nothing (I can't recall). It would keep pulsing like that but each time it would pulse it would be a different colour (white, red, blue, yellow, green, maybe others). I didn't notice if there was a pattern to the colour changes. It was moving across the sky, fairly low down, in various directions back and forth, and it was completely silent, at least I couldn't hear anything from where I was. It seemed about half a mile away, maybe a bit more. I watched it for about 5 minutes before it either moved or disappeared. I did film it on an HD digital camcorder but unfortunately nothing showed up when I watched the tape back. That's the problem with filming relatively small lights in a black sky, nothing really shows up. I might try uploading it to my PC and playing around with the footage to see if I could see anything, but that never occurred to me before now.

If you are feeling anxious and stressed, I highly recommend coming off social media and ignoring the so-called news. TH-cam is fine as long as you don't watch the news on it.
I agree with you. There is a significant aspect of science that has become religion-like…far more based on belief than on first principles. And much of it has become beholden to corporate interests, entrapped in money pits while legitimate curiosity has been thrown out the window and instead they go around trying to obliterate everyone else so they can get more money, rather than behave as actual scientists. As a researcher, my experience has been that so many of the so-called “experts” are either entrapped in beliefs, or, in some more minor cases, are partially “in on it” and are trying to disuade others from finding out because there are vested interests in keeping some of the secrets that are there. These are too numerous to elucidate in a TH-cam comment, but a significant example would be that there is physics that is known that could actually make significant changes to our civilization but is being held back rather than being shared fully. This has actually been admited by a small number of physicists who have worked on very high security projects.
I just watched a vid with him on Jesse Michels channel. Physics of UFOs. Poor Eric couldn't process that a guy with a full schedule working on homeland security wasn't shallow enough to make himself a public international target by getting rich. Eric is correct in regards to nukes and physics but didn't think the same way regarding ESP by government agencies. In the words of Eric himself, wake the eff up. Its time to grow up and take these things seriously. Im always fascinated by how smart people are so stupid sometimes. Its rare with Eric thankfully.
I really liked this interview. I love Eric's ability to communicate so eloquently. I love Avi's honesty, passion, and intelligence. I like these guys a lot.
I hear you 'RAZOR...TION'; but [Brian Keating] reminds me to consider the 'stage-factor' of Discussions put forth by two other brilliant minds: Krauss and Dawson: Do-We-NEED-A-Moderator? (Do Moderators get-in-the-way) of the flow of Discussion--by those Absolutely Extraordinary minds-at-work?/!
Too bad both of these guys left science realm and moved into business of selling books, podcasts etc. Follow the money, whole UAP hysteria has nothing to do with science, but with unscrupulous money making. There are much more plausible explanations for virtually every UAP incident from Oumuamua to "TicTocs" , not involving aliens, but ironically UFO cultist are most close minded group, despite blaming others with that sin. Sadly people like Loeb and Weintein use their past scientific credentials to peddle pseudo-scientific gobbledygook, and Brian Keating facilitates it to gain clicks and views.
I don't understand why Eric Weinstein is so mad about "debunking". Is it just the word "debunk" that he's against? Or is he in favour of taking every UAP claim at face value and not to analyze it for any alternate explanation? In another chat, he was harsh on Mick West without explaining what was wrong with Mick's analysis of various UAP videos. Eric, you're a scientist. Isn't it a scientists job to critically examine everything?
It's absolutely fascinating to me that the problems faced by modern astrophysics' compatibility with UAP phenomenon mirror the issues faced by the archaeology establishment. Thank you for holding this conversation.
@@tobiaspascher9884 Archaeology has been in crisis since the 80s. Probably the biggest problem you can easily inevestigate is the issue of the YDIH; the younger dryas impact hypothesis. This theory is the basis of the idea that an ancient civilization built some megalithic sites across the globe and was wiped out around 10,000-17,000 years ago by a global catastrophe that would have put some parts of N America under 600 feet of fast moving water and the Giza plateau under 200 feet. Official archeology has (and typically continues to) refute this idea, even though it logically explains many problems with dating (the convoluted history of dating of the Sphinx quarry comes to mind.) The issue is that the YDIH was proposed decades ago before there was substantial evidence and anyone who discussed the idea was professionally discredited... Since then geology and human mitochondrial DNA testing has proven that the YDIH is not only valid but that this event is one of the main drivers of our recent evolution.
@@tobiaspascher9884 along with the answer you already received another parallel is that the more we learn the more we realize how wrong we've been and how little we know. Human civilization just keeps getting pushed back further and further and there's a real possibility now that there have been advanced human civilizations on this planet that were completely wiped out and lost to time in a way that would leave essentially no record
It's good to see that Eric was open-minded enough to change his mind and see that UAPs are worthy of serious scientific investigation. I still can't understand why most mainstream scientists don't.
It's frustrating hearing about navy vessels being "swarmed" off the west coast in the news...you would think dedicated instrumentation would have been involved from then on out. Military ships are very protective of the area they occupy anyways and contacts like this would have raised more than a few arm hairs, no? How many navy personnel would have witnessed this? Dozens? Hundreds? I witnessed Adam Schiff questioning military officials about pilot encounters with UAP's. He acted like it was his first time hearing about it. Absolutely nothing of any substance came up. Big surprise.
Love this tag team. Eric is a bulldog and Avi the “straight man” ….how can we NOT discover what this phenomenon is with this level of intellect driving the investigation. Avi is 100% correct, we need our own, unclassified data.

Not sure how relevant this is, but watching Dr. Loeb's smile fade and watching him get to after scientists for not pursuing evidence was magical. Thank you Eric, Avi, and Brian for letting us follow along, keeping scientific rigor, and not letting merit become a thing of the past, To think that seti people are not willing to share or investigate these experiences is distressing.
SETI is trying to stay relevant and they don’t want the UFO (ufologist) stigma attached to their study. It is not the fault of the SETI scientists, it is the damage caused by the taboo of the subject of UFOs. To be fair, the public evidence is extremely flimsy. I have no idea about the classified evidence, so i won’t comment on it. But what i will comment on is the millions of dollars the US government has spent infiltrating ufology groups! Really messing with people’s lives up to and including driving US citizens to suicide. I think this is in part what Eric was trying to bring up. This is what is really the interesting part of the ufo phenomenon. And why does the scientific community lack curiosity about this? I think it is Crimestop from 1984.
@@ronalddecker8498 I understand your points, as a citizen of the world I always thought that SETI would be up front and want to share the knowledge with the wider scientific community, that was the thinking of a younger more naive and hopeful individual. In the recent UAP congressional hearings they seriously discussed making investigating UFOs a crime. The real danger if this is allowed to happen is multifold. First the president. What subject will be next to be banned for non-sanctioned investigation? Next is define UAP? What a nebulous thing to outlaw the investigation of!! Especially when the word unidentified is named in the title? So only identified phenomena in the sky can be investigated? And third, they will use ‘national security’ as the reason investigating UAP should be criminalized. So some unidentified thing is illegal to investigate for reasons of national security but the law itself is behind a wall of security because the details were discussed in the closed door hearings, so it can’t be known by the law breaker what the law actually is as it is top secret. The sky is classified …. Or soon might be.

This was incredible. Fiery at times. Little bit of tension there for a min because the passion is so strong. Very encouraging and promising. Brilliant minds will figure this out and here they are making history.
Greatly enjoyed this, thank you so much Brian ! It's great to see the interaction and mutual respect. What especially resonated with me is Eric's notion that we have a very clear government / expert enforced distinction between speculative theories. Some actively promoted while others (sometimes less speculative) are 'verboten' to discuss. Political, medical, scientific; it's everywhere. Barred narratives consistently seem: obvious, reasonable, logical, well-supported, honest, and truthfull. In contrast; supported narratives are mostly deceitful, illogic, un-supported by evidence. If we translate that to Oumuamua (barred) and atmospheric UAP's (supported), this would suggest Oumuamua is exactly what Avi thinks it is and the powers that be know it too, otherwise they wouldn't try to debunk it. I agree with Brian, that Avi's idea that there will be other Oumumua's will likely not materialize. To me it feels Oumuamua was unique. More like loosing an outgoing human related beneficial object and not an incoming alien threat. What's more; It still bothers me that all experts simply ASSUME Oumumua had an incoming trajectory, whilst we only saw it as it left Earth's vicinity. If alien tech, then why are we so sure it was 'dysfunctional debris' ? there is no reason to assume it had an incoming trajectory. No reason to explain away the sudden thrust with a unintentional light sail push. No reason for it to pass so extremely close to only Earth (within 24 million km of our 940 million long orbit). And its strange shape sounds quite familiar if you browse historic documents (inevitably often of religious origin). There was an object with 10:1 length ratio, less then 200 m long and reddish. Noah arc is described exactly like this. It may be coincidence, but there may be more then meets the eye here. Lets just not hope it is the Atrahasis variant. But if it can accelerate, it can turn around as well. I personally would welcome that because ever since 2017 things have spiraled out of control on this pale blue dot. Destiny or not, I don't like it.
Gotta love Eric. He's so blunt and to the point about this topic. It's really what we need in order to finally get some answers. Thanks for the great podcast!

Eric F’ing Weinstein!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 you nailed it! This will have to morph into a much bigger discussion about government manipulation of society. We might be more like China than we may realize. Scientists will have to learn geopolitics if they want a shred of understanding on what’s going on here.
Agreed. Finally! "The adults are talking!" We have to be willing to face reality and deal with the men behind the curtains who we are allowing to continue pushing society in this direction. Loeb: "It's relatively simple to understand what happened. Bill Nelson was very intrigued by UAP because as a Senator he saw some classified data that is not available to the public, and now that he became the head of NASA he said that... scientist should get engaged because he believes that this is a serious matter." The public deserves access to this data, and if not we deserve as much of an explanation to why not, as can be safely given in regards to national security.
I love the endeavor from Loeb, but as someone having studied the UAP/UFO phenomenon for many years, I can guarentee that it won't be as easy nor as definitive to gather and analyze the data as he posits. But great to see the attempt :)

Great conversations. These men are spot on. What is science supposed to be about? Asking questions, and investigating them. NOT about egos or status, Accepting ideas from others, regardless of their stature or position at the top universities. Nothing is learnt if that isn't done. Todays "obvious" answer, is next year's new discovery....unless some one says, "We already know that." That leads the world nowhere. In addition, I appreciated Mr. Weinstein's comments about social media, and the so called, press. The lack of investigation into certain issues, to protect a status quo. What happened to the use of the word "WHY" and "HOW" ? Science used to be about exploration, and questioning, imagination, and curiosity for it's own sake, not personal gain, and ego.

Eric Weinstein articulated some points extremely well. Subjects that people do not want to talk about, which obviously inhibits what we can understand and explore. If external forces promote incuriosity by punishing people who question the mainstream narrative we obviously inhibit the desire for the truth.
Good point. It also challenges many to defy the status quo and pursue their search for the answer to the question that has been deemed "fiction" by a relatively small percentage of the population... who coincidentally rely on the funding from others in the very same group of people.
One more thing... Avi Loeb stands to be the name everyone reads about in textbooks as the one responsible for ending the stagnation of our progress in understanding the physics that we have yet to discover... because scientists have been too preoccupied with their reputation and funding to even attempt to gather data from these seemingly physics defying objects.

It's very encouraging to finally see such smart individuals taking this seriously and striving to publicly find answers for us. I eagerly await their discoveries
What did it look like
Do you know what all the types weather balloons and high altitude science platforms look like? No trying to call you out but if I saw a genuine ufo finding out what it was would consume my life.
I had a UFO/UAP 75 to 100 feet over my head in February 2022. Cool, huh?
well, in any case, you saw something you didn't recognize.

Turn the news off. The world is doing better than the news is telling you. They only push fear.
It also made me feel like I'm not crazy
I'm with Eric on this one and almost every other podcast he does. Seems like everyone is asking and committing to the wrong questions. Love the chat!

@RAZORREVOLUTION1 .. You got a star. ..
I see no wisdom here.
Interesting point
What are those issues ? Sry not fully getting your point 😅🥴
Official archeology has (and typically continues to) refute this idea, even though it logically explains many problems with dating (the convoluted history of dating of the Sphinx quarry comes to mind.)
The issue is that the YDIH was proposed decades ago before there was substantial evidence and anyone who discussed the idea was professionally discredited...
It's everywhere, Luke a virus.

"The sky is not classified" - great point Avi, well said.

Much respect These are conversations worth hearing.
@41:24 is the start of the most important thing said during this entire podcast

Bill Nelson was very intrigued by UAP because as a Senator he saw some classified data that is not available to the public, and now that he became the head of NASA he said that... scientist should get engaged because he believes that this is a serious matter."
The public deserves access to this data, and if not we deserve as much of an explanation to why not, as can be safely given in regards to national security.
I love the endeavor from Loeb, but as someone having studied the UAP/UFO phenomenon for many years, I can guarentee that it won't be as easy nor as definitive to gather and analyze the data as he posits. But great to see the attempt :)
Avi is so full of wonderful ideas! Great for our future and moving fasterfor a better future. Avi may be our future President!! A scientist would make a great USA president in the future ❤❤❤
Enjoyed this podcast.Bring Eric & Avi back again:-)
Absolutely great and fascinating conversation. Dr. Keating , thank you for that, and hope more like that will be in the future.
More to come!
I love Eric Weinstein attitude and position on the topic and Avi Loeb ‘s curiosity along with his insight. All prepped by Brian’s right questioning. I’m just happy to have witness this great dialogue on a captivating subject. U got a sub out of me.
Thanks so much. Made my day. Have a great weekend!
@@DrBrianKeatingNo ,thank you and enjoy your weekend as well.
Excellent conversation and hope you all keep moving forward with your ideas and your platform. The immensity of this subject can not be understated.
It's not every day you get to hear and see 2 true geniuses at the same time ! What a treat ...
one of the greatest conversations to ever exist

@@DrBrianKeating that your guests have a pretty good idea that these objects are more likely than not extraterrestrial but are unwilling to say it .
@@DrBrianKeating it was the defense of what science actually is! on the respect of data in all forms, but still adhering to the structures of sci method no matter the topic, and how taboo it might or might not be. thanks!
Fantastic conversation - thank you gentlemen.

I highly recommend getting Kevin Knuth on the show. He’s one of the few physicists who has been interested in this topic for some time. His voice sometimes gets over shadowed by bigger scientists like Avi (don’t get me wrong, I love Avi). Kevin just deserves more respect and recognition for what’s he’s been doing
Thanks very much for the feedback
Kevin Knuth is who I thought of when Eric made his University of Kentucky reference.
@@omni_0101 that’s exactly what I thought. He gets relegated to the margins because he’s at the University of Albany, but he’s a fantastic theoretical physicist and is doing great stuff with UAPs
BRAVO! What an incredible episode! 👏
Q, What did the boys and girls see at Ariel School? Q, What did the boys and girls see at Westall School? these boys and girls are still alive have any of you interviewed or talked to them? i have seen one of these craft very close up and very personal 50ft bathed in plasma we lost 2 hours in the space of 5 minuets. you can look all you want out there and yes you may get lucky and find one of the home worlds but take it from me they are here already! nasa (small N) knows this already and is playing the game that`s been asked of them, Tim Lee UK
Hands down one of my favourite listens to in a while.
Thankyou to all involved

Eric Weinstein articulated some points extremely well. Subjects that people do not want to talk about, which obviously inhibits what we can understand and explore. If external forces promote incuriosity by punishing people who question the mainstream narrative we obviously inhibit the desire for the truth.
Good point. It also challenges many to defy the status quo and pursue their search for the answer to the question that has been deemed "fiction" by a relatively small percentage of the population... who coincidentally rely on the funding from others in the very same group of people.
One more thing... Avi Loeb stands to be the name everyone reads about in textbooks as the one responsible for ending the stagnation of our progress in understanding the physics that we have yet to discover... because scientists have been too preoccupied with their reputation and funding to even attempt to gather data from these seemingly physics defying objects.
absolutely one of the best conversations ive had the privilege of listening to in a very long time. l'chaim y'all

@@DrBrianKeating besides the synagogue joke that derailed eric? 😅 my favorite takeaway was avi's point about science needing to be a search for truth, and that being wrong most of the time is how we arrive there, but i think the best thing ill walk away with is eric's bet that if funding was made available for fringe topics, everyone would want to hop on board. kinda gives me motivation to try tackling those issues anyways and let the world catch up 🙌 thank you for hosting this, and please keep them coming!
Yes! Stay tuned for more !!
Amazing we get to be flies on the wall to this conversation with such well respected professors. Well done guys.
Thanks very much
Eric’s mug selection is awesome 😂
