My family has an issue with getting gift suggestions cause they like to be out of the box, but honestly I'd love anything on this list. Great job! I think in addition to your list would be a good blanket or office accessories about writing, OH or bookmarks :3
I would recommend if you have a writer friend who uses the library often, giving someone money to pay off their library fines (if they have them). When I was younger I used the library a lot but wasn't super great at time management and ended up racking up a lot of fines. I still used the library a lot but now I work part-time at one and its a lot harder for me to rack up fines now. One Christmas, I was telling my Aunt about this, and she gave me money specifically to pay my fines. You can't go into a library and pay off someone's fines from them for like legal reasons and such, but giving some cash is great!
Holy crap round of applause for Alexa Donne the great!!! Love this list as a writer I would be over the moon with joy with any of these gifts. Great list Alexa!👍🏻👏🏻🥰🎉🎁
Christmas AND my birthday are coming up soon...I forwarded this to my family before I even started the video 😂 THANK YOU FOR ARTICULATING THE THING. I never know what to tell people!
Writing prompt books. The best ones I’ve found so far, are The 3 AM Epiphany, and the 4 AM breakthrough. What’s really fun is if you get both, and then pick a random writing prompt from each and merge them. You always end up with something super unique and interesting. Also every writer should have at least one good visual dictionary. They are super super helpful when you’re trying to think of what that one part of a hot air balloon is called, but maybe you can’t think of the keywords to punch in to google.
What's your opinion on WattPad? As much as I'd love to sell my debut novel, since I don't have anyone to buy it, my plan is to offer it for free, in hopes that people will like it enough to buy the sequel. Am I being practical or selling my debut novel short? A reply from you would literally make my holiday season. I love you so much. I love you more than SpongeBob loves Patrick.
I've been wondering the same thing! I wrote a 36 chapter book on Wattpad a long time ago and got a couple thousand reads before I kind of stopped working on it and people stopped reading because I eventually stopped updating. But I know they're doing ads and paid promotions now, so I wonder if I should keep using it now that it's changed so much? Like could people use it in a certain way to make money and get their name out there? I've seen books in Barnes and Noble with the "From Wattpad" sticker on them, but how do we go about achieving that? Because I really don't know how to navigate Wattpad's new updates, or like what the rules are for getting paid promotions and stuff like that.
On the bookish side. I would love if someone got me a book cover sleeve thing to protect my books in my bag. I read primarily library books so I want to keep them nice
The company Out of Print makes amazing bookish and writerly things, like a tote that looks like a composition book, library card socks or t-shirts, mugs with blacked-out text that (when heated) reveal titles of banned books, and an Edgar Allen Poe-ka-dotted scarf! (They also make the most amazing gift for Potterheads: the socks Dobby knitted for Harry, one green with snitches, one red with broomsticks.)
I'm not a writer, I come from another creative department, but I've still taken on board some of these suggestions 🤗 P.S. Alexa, would you consider making a video on some books & other sources on marketing for artists/creative professionals? That would be AWESOME.
I love this all of the suggestions are great :3 errm thermos/flasks that don't leak (for hot and cold beverages when out and about - or to keep hydrated because maybe at a coffee shop or in nature... Need water!) Or those reusable heat packs or hand warmers because aches especially in my back or neck from sitting longish periods!
Rocketbooks. Rocketbooks should be the go-to for any writer of any level. They are nearly endlessly reusable notebooks. No more wasted paper, no more clutter of old notes sitting around. I love my Everlast Rocketbook.
Good quality notebooks are very appreciated. :) I made the mistake of using cheap notebooks for the first draft of my current novel, and they're falling apart.
I have a shop where I sell my handmade journals and notebooks. I'm looking for more things to add to my shop so I am looking at 'gift' videos lol Totally counts as research.
Gift cards, books, notebooks, and nice pens are some of my favorites. Also video games - I find they are fun for consuming stories in a different fashion.
Margaret Atwood's masterclass popped up right before this video started (she is my favourite writer, but I can't buy her class), and then 5.46 arrived. The universe is mocking me lol
Honestly I find gift cards wasteful. I would rather receive money. My grandfather used to do this every xmas... He would write a little card and put money inside as his present for me (he did the same for my brothers and cousin). I loved it.
Please someone gift me a critique partner/beta reader hahaha have not found one yet and only considered starting a TH-cam channel so I could make writer friends
*subtly sends the link to the whole family*
Gift cards to coffee shops, local or chain...or Panera when the writer in your life wants to write out of the house is a great idea too!
Yess! Great suggestion :) I'm a sucker for the chai at Panera Bread, and would love to sip on it as I work on my pieces.
@@seleciaa I'm gonna have to try their chai one these days! Keep hearing good things! I love their iced green tea...
I just got Master Class from my sister. I love it! I'm watching Dan Brown and some others right now and it's so inspiring!
i think this is a really nice subtle way for Alexa to tell all her friends that she wants to be taken to spas.

My wife is a closet aspiring writer and I think these ideas make great stocking stuffers, thanks for the video!

*buys all these things for myself* >_>
... despite what I said I'm half tempted to get myself Masterclass lol.
Same here ^^
Scrivener!!! GAME CHANGER! Another great video, Alexa!
Holy crap round of applause for Alexa Donne the great!!! Love this list as a writer I would be over the moon with joy with any of these gifts. Great list Alexa!👍🏻👏🏻🥰🎉🎁
I'm MasterClass's Student of the Month this month! I've been a student for three years now and I absolutely love them. Highly recommend!
Definately recommend those master classes. Those classes are what made me realize I have potential.
Inks for my fountain pen are always a wonderful gift. I really enjoy doing my first draft by hand and I adore my fountain pen.
Christmas AND my birthday are coming up soon...I forwarded this to my family before I even started the video 😂 THANK YOU FOR ARTICULATING THE THING. I never know what to tell people!
I absolutely love gift lists (especially for writers). 🎁

I love On Writing!

Uh, nevermind me. I'm just over here writing another draft with pencil and paper.

Great suggestions, Alexa! Thanks a bunch!!
This is such a cool gift idea list! It's so unique! Thanks for making it
Masterclass is great btw. I got the full subscription and have taken several classes
My Holiday gift list includes your book. Well, okay, so I am going to buy it myself, but it is the least I can do to support your amazing videos.
Excellent suggestions! Thank you!!

I didn't know what to ask for Christmas but now I want too much things haha!
A potentially more eco-friendly option to stickers is stamps! (You can reuse the stamp of course, it's sourcing the ink :) )
Good quality notebooks are very appreciated. :) I made the mistake of using cheap notebooks for the first draft of my current novel, and they're falling apart.
Fun video with some great ideas.
I love those tips
Any advice for writing a Christmas themed story??
Making my fiancé watch this lol 🎁 🎅🏼 🌲
Love this ❣️

Bookmarks. Where do they go? It doesn't matter how many I get, I can never find one
Qwerkywriter! That’s my reward for getting my first book published. So expensive.
Shop local! Whether you know it or not, local bookshops are struggling!!!
The best writing book I've read - and I've read a lot of screenplay and fiction craft books - is Anatomy of Story by John Truby
Margaret Atwood's masterclass popped up right before this video started (she is my favourite writer, but I can't buy her class), and then 5.46 arrived. The universe is mocking me lol
wow keep it up
Starbucks gift cards. If I write at home I'm interupted 10Xs more (usually by myself) then if I'm out.
Who said book gift cards are impersonal? Pffft.
Kieran Dawnshadow gift cards are perfect. This way you can pick the book you want instead of being stuck with the book someone else chose.
Scrivener has a 20% off code I got it today for 39 dollars.
Chocolate is a necessity, not a reward
Honestly I find gift cards wasteful. I would rather receive money. My grandfather used to do this every xmas... He would write a little card and put money inside as his present for me (he did the same for my brothers and cousin). I loved it.
They're ALL Alcohol right?
a nap
