Did you ever find out how to make the song information display on the Yamaha using Spotify connect? It seems such a sad waste of the screen on a streaming amplifier 😅 for those of us who don’t have apple/airplay
Just put the Spotify at the highest quality rate and the setting "volume level" to "quiet" (it is available on android but maybe not on iPhone?). The quiet setting will give you the normal highest dynamic range. The other options will compress and bring up the lowest levels so you can be able to hear them in a noisier environment. And therefore that has lower dynamic range. After that the sound quality is as good as the best recording that you can find on a CD. (I have done the comparison I could hear a difference but when I realized that I were using two different DACs. And I connected the digital out from the CD player to the same and external DAC that the Spotify used I could not hear any difference between CD and Spotify with the same mastering.) So it is bigger and audible difference between DACs then between CD and Spotify. (If the settings above is applied)

When you start Spotify on your phone you say to Spotify: "play my list/songs on that Yamaha from the cloud" after that your phone do not need to be powered anymore. But it is nice that you from the Yamaha can skip to next song. (I have not the option to try that)
It's still great value. Most products with the same feature set (or less) cost a little or a lot more, like the Marantz PM7000N, Primare I15 Prisma, Audiolab 6000A play, Roksan Attessa etc etc.
Can it play 2 different playlist from 2 Spotify accounts ? Just say my friend come for dinner and she wants to use this amp to play her own playlist, possible ?
This receiver doesn’t have a hdmi input. You could use an Apple TV 3rd gen. via an optical cable. Hopefully Yamaha and Apple will deliver software and firmware updates but I think we will have to buy new devices to take full advantage of Apples new HiRes offering
Tidal HiFi/Master is the streaming service to go. 16bit/44.1 kHz is CD quality and it's everything your ear can hear but spotify isn't that great. And this is science. If you are in to Hi-Fi audio is good to educate yourself in this topic.

Have you seen the new N-R2000a it is just what you wished for a higher end version of the 803. The build quality is fantastic!
Oh yes. That is a monster in so many ways.
Too expensive. I settled for the R-S300 model at half the price & the sound is just as good. No need for the bells & whistles.

have you checked the sound quality compared with Cambridge Audio?
I like Cambridge Audio Azur 851a or even CXA-60 more than the bright sound of this Yamaha

Spotify are alot better than tidal. Tidal is the worst streaming service out there. Their f up dps is colouring everything.
