6:45 . Pikes Peak highway is 19.2 miles long, cog is 8.9 miles. The fastest we can do in an uphill run is 52 minutes in an unladen 4/8 unit. The highway is signed at the lowest for 25mph, you can cover from the gate to the summit in about 45 minutes. The hillclimb race is only the last 12.4 miles and the record on that is 7:57 in a Volkswagen IDR. The comparison for time would be from leaving the same location and trying to get to the same end however. As the highway starts much further up the valley in Cascade, I can't beat a train up from the depot driving the speed limit, been there, tried that.

I absolutely love this accurate representation of Narrow Guage Railroading in the American Midwest. I'm sure the people who built tracks in those days aren't rolling over in their graves right now.
What's also funny is that you guys could've just simply teleported Betsy to the top of the mountain and placed her there. But oh no you guys went all out and proved it could be done even at the cost of your own sanity and I applaud you for it.
Also I absolutely love the new end credits scene with the Galloping Geese and steam engines all in front of the roundhouse. Wonderful choice and a much loved change to the end credits.
I cant wait for the next RO video as well as the next Four Train Video.

Every time I watch Kan building tracks I have but one thought, 'Kan, you don't HAVE to make the bottom of the rail touch the ground the whole time'. There is a whole 30' of bridge height that Kan never uses when building these crazy runs. A friend and I have built a massive bridge run from the beginning of where your switchback is all the way around the mountain range and it hits ground again just past the bend where we leave the fright depot, I'm sure most of the run is at the limit of the big steel bridges height, and most of the track is so far away from the mountain you can't get back on it. And at a maximum incline of 3% mor most of the run, it drops quite a bit over the possible 20 km's of track.

When she tried to run away, they kept forcing her to go around a curve her wheels could not take. her funnel is all chipped and cracked after repeated hits to the mountain funnel first, and after the closing of slacks from weird money loss not caused by a Canadian threatening them with polished turds, roughly around the time the switchback madness project was completed by said Canadian, the Central Rio & Pacific was to poor to properly fix it. They considered using aluminum cans for repairs, but their rivals the rio grande southern already did that. Then poor Betsy was rolled at terminal velocity down a mountain and her driver perished. After along time the other person left to get milk before the store closed... right. The next day, she was rerailed at the base of the madness after many many drunken attempts and was forced to climb it and bash into the same rocks again. After 2 more falls down the mountain, her funnel had to be replaced by paper mache reinforced with her original funnel metal shavings. Finally she was left alone on a physics breaking steel bridge trusses with no supports, to live out her days, alone with none of her engine friends. I like how the FRA regulation Hyce spotted was the pressure gauge shut off and not the hole in the cab right where the porters rear driving wheels are.

Had to stop at about 11 minutes in...... Hvce, thank you. I've been waiting to hear this confirmation for soo long. Every time Kan would scold you for running like you stole it, in the back of my head I'm saying, Kan has no clue what its like to run something like that all the time. When you can finally just send it without consequence, you send it full steam ahead. LMFAO
