my advice would be take things one step at a time one habit at a time. For me personally having a specific thought point is what allows me to check myself which is typically along the lines of "its in these moments where I struggle the most to break x habit, that is most important for me to resist that is how true discipline is built" and eventually it will be easier and easier to resist whatever urge. We are habitual creatures after all and we dont miss what we dont have in the same way that muslims or jews have no struggle not eating pork since it was either barely or never in their life to begin with, there will be a point at which it wont be a struggle.
I deleted my facebook & I don't use instagram. I have no tiktok either. The moment when I deleted my facebook account, I felt more free. The only social I have is a twitter account that I rarely use. I use it to check the tour schedules of my favourite indie bands, also to see memes when I'm tired & need some laugh.
Zosia what works for me is trying not to open any social media app until i complete all the tasks from my day. And after a long day before I sleep I try to limit it to 30m/1hour(max), and yes I know it's not ideal, but it's still a solid foundation until you learn how to defeat this problem entirely.
Social media is a cesspool. Drop it and live your real life. Don't think and ruminate about it. Just get out and you will fill your time and life with meaningful relationships, activities, and art. Look at the TED talks from people who gave up social media. You'll surely quit.
Genuine question. How about those whose work require to have social media profiles as, basically, their work portfolio? I worked in IT industry. So many IT companies nowadays require applicants to have social media like twitter & insta, so they can check whether or not the applicants have proof of something to do with the job they're applying at some level.
Social Media is fucked.. but you are asking the correct questions!
bless
Social media ain't bad, it's how we use it 🔥
