Thank you so much Dusan for accepting my request! I listened with a smile on my face! I love that piece. Mr. Bolcom (who is still alive today) would have enjoyed hearing you play it too! He was born in my hometown of Seattle, Washington ~Mary

Smile is always the best reward. I might do one more take / version... - lyrical, straight. I did not listen the piece before recording. After, I found a few (actually youtube algorythms). Found some more "swingy" versions also... but yes, mostly the piece is played much more straight. Listened to the NPR concert of Marc-André Hamelin (one of my favourites), means I already listened to the piece somewehre like a year or two ago when I listened to this NPR for the first time. I like very much how Hamelin plays the piece (as I like 98% of what he plays / I heard from him). But that does not change my own personal preference... For sure, I am not a "specialist" (in any aspect) on Ragtime. Had many trustful teachers about "classical" music and playing piano in my life, but never any "master-lesson" on ragtime by someone really respectful. So... maybe I do "all wrong" by swinging it. Only Mr. Bolcom himself would tell me how much he was "annoyed" by that... Let's see how much I enjoy "forcing" myself to take it straight. But I had fun with it and probably this will find the way to my "stable repertoire". As Hamelin mentioned in the NPR, this always used to be one of his favourite "little encore pieces". And I can imagine the same. So, one more time - thanks for a "very pointy" tip... Cheers.
There is a little quote by Bolcom where he said "I don't worry about critics, the only thing I worry about is whether the player wants to play it." So play it the way you want to play it. Thrilled that you may use it for encores! You're very welcome.

@@redlantern3371 Yes... He looks sympatic from the pictures... perhaps he would not take a broom on me... :) And I'm pretty sure they had a nice - cultural rich life, together with his wife, a singer (who I believe is also still alive).

As my friend Ben Wallet just pointed out, ragtimes (wast majority) - Joplin etc., are always in Major keys. Here - a rare case of a ragtime in the Minor key. As Ben said: "We need more Minor rags".
I don't usually comment on each new Dusan Holy video posted on TH-cam, but I nevertheless do watch and listen to them with pleasure, for they introduce me to new pieces (passionately and skillfully played) and sometimes - as with William Bolcom - to new composers. I am grateful for your postings.

Oh my... I hope Marcela did not "force" you too much. :) (joke, hope we understand) No worries and no need to excuse for that. Happy you find your way to my channel.
Well... it was dedicated to composer's passed-away daddy who liked to dance... But the information source does not mention WHAT kind of dance was his father's favourite... No, seriously - this is obviously pretty wrong, as long as we keep the name in mind. If we forget the name, let's...... enjoy it when you enjoy it. ;)
Are you any relation to Tsar Stefan Dušan, by any chance?

Hereby, I declare that none of my family members ever had anything to do with a dirty politics. Instead, we do music... For 4 generations already (at least, as long as I know). Dušan is a Czech first name (same as in Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria and some other slavic countries.)

Very nice, if a little too much 'swung' for my taste. 'De gustibus non disputandum est'.
Well... I am affraid I can't really satisfy the personal-taste of 8 billion people (or how many we are..).
But that's ok. Thanks anyway!
