A deep dive (hehe) into the depths of my hard drive. I fished (LOL) out some cool ravey little gems that have laid dormant for the last year or two. Neon White's OST could be considered Reporpoised Phantasies 2, given how the creator wanted Machine Girl to continue the direction of this specific album for the game.
honestly that was my first thought listening to neon white's soundtrack. it's very in tune with this sound specifically. would love to hear more of this in the future

I knew this album cover looked too familiar! I played that game so long ago it seems so vague now, but it still felt like home when i first saw this cover for the first time

Dolphin on the bottom is certainly Snappy from Soul Hackers but the upper one with a girl and overall range of colors used on album cover reminds me a lot of Ecco the dolphin from 90s. I also think that album samples/takes a lot of influence from soundtrack in both of these games, atleast these songs reminded me of Ecco in some way, idk about Soul Hackers, still haven't play that one yet. Thanks for reminding me about this one, haven't listened to it in a while, certainly one of MG best albums
why does music which is just one sampled chord but pitch shifted higher and lower sound so cool

Wavelength's also cause there's barely any dissonance to it! Of course breakcore can be dissonant but tracks like Cyan Hardcore are less Noise filtered together and the chords are jumping smoothly
im no theory expert but imo parallel chord changes to the ear sound like massive changes, and many of them consecutively give the the feeling of quick and large movements. bill evans did this a lot

It's a lot easier to nail down an aesthetic when you're looking back at it 20 years later. The Y2K aesthetic didn't feel like much of an "aesthetic" when I was living through it, but looking back I can clearly discern the design cues and attitudes of the era.
More like mid 90s. Reminds me of early Wipeout music.

Having heard their entire catalogue today, I think we can all agree that when it comes to intensity as a whole; this record is pretty tame. Not saying it as a bad thing, if anything it’s a REALLY GOOD machine girl record; I love it when artists try new things and explore the possibilities and ideas of other genres, and this doesn’t disappoint in the slightest.
Yeah MG tends to vary the vibes. You can have a record like Because Im Young Arrogant that slides your brain into a fun woodchipper, then you listen to Gemini and its like waterslide of jet fuel.
yea for sure, I love this one for different reasons that I love WLFGRL or ...Because I'm Young, but the fact that machine girl made the three of them makes it even more interesting

There's been several times where i have wanted to recommend machine girl to a friend, and I've never entirely been sure how to explain what they sound like so I end up describing them as Powerpuff girls core, because I can vividly imagine a PPG fight scene playing over some of these songs.

Cyan hardcore and greaze are by far my favourites from this EP, it's those songs which introduced me to machine girl, and I would love to see more of those.

Anyone know the show from the album cover? Looks like one of those cool 80s animes. Also this EP is beautiful. I listened to this right after WLFGRL and it’s refreshing in away to escape from the brutality to straight up vibes.
