- Can $1,000 motorcycles make it 1,000 adventure miles?
Our other challenges didn’t cover a lot of miles, but they were still some of the most fun we’ve ever had. So, does covering more miles mean we’ll have even more fun? That logic may not be the most reliable, but our passion for and experience with ADV riding certainly is. We’ll be taking these project bikes on our Hooked on Phoenix ride, a popular route that takes you from Mesquite, Nevada to Phoenix, Arizona and back. With a mix of dirt roads, technical sand and rocks, and even a little slab, this ride has something for every rider and certainly the right challenges to push these bikes to the limit.
This may be the team’s most ludicrous idea yet. Whether you think they are finally in over their heads or just adding another notch to their belts, you won’t want to miss a single second of it.

Cinematic masterpiece
So glad to see some vintage bikes in this, especially the Suzuki GS and Kawi KZ! RockyMountain you guys rock! Been ordering parts from you guys ever since I can remember. The RM cash is awesome, I always seem to forget about it, and when I placed my order last week for a few odds and ends, a $30 something order ended up being $5. Stoked for this series!

I think I’d have stuck with the venerable DR350, very reliable and the engines are bulletproof! May not be the fastest, but it would just keep on plugging along! Good luck to all of you…. can’t wait to see your next episode!

When it comes to buying used bikes. It needs the carb cleaned has about a 10% probability.
It almost always means .... ( I don't know what broke... or it's roached)
If your buddy ask you to fix his bike. Good chance it's a dirty carb lol but not when buying bikes from strangers

I love this. I don’t even want to tell you how many of these bikes I’ve owned and “adventure “ ridden. I’m surprised not to see a Honda 650. This brings me right back to being young, poor and wanting to do adventure stuff. I love it.

I rode a SP500 for a long time and absolutely loved it. It had the same fade on the gas tank. I got it for $600, fixed it up and rode it as my daily. Most fun I’ve had.

Whaaaat I feel so offended! He bought the DR350N (or R) Model which is insane to ride when in good working condition. And the engine is also a real powerhouse with the flat side carb. I just paid a grand for a DR350N in pieces in Germany as they are pretty rare but sooooo good to ride!
Trust me, $500 was way too much. That think was a pile. I had to put in a new timing chain, carb, Tires, and fix about 10 stripped out bolts just to make it decent enough to sell. - Justin
@@rmatvmc okok I forgive you. These things are so capable and robust that people forget to maintain them and then they are beyond repair... But I am sure you would have easily outdone the competition on it :)

Of course. My ‘98 dr350 (dirt model) made it across Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas panhandle, New Mexico (south to north) and up to Pagosa Springs, CO. Mostly on gravel…then rode it another few years before I sold it. This was 2005ish.
Love the bikes. This is my kind of thing. Looks like it's going to be fun.

You cant find a running bike in the northwest for less than 2500 anymore. I've been trying to find and old dual sport for my buddy for about 2 months with no luck. We have 1998 XR400's selling for $4500 here...
It is getting bad here to. We bought these last Fall when the weather started getting cold... Justin

Great watch here! I would have liked the belt drive left on the Kawasaki to see how it does. Heard some Harley riders just loosen them up (so the rocks n dirt just fall out) and they do great. This would have been a good test.

Was into it until he ditched the DR350. Granted that was a neglected tweeker example of one. But they are great bikes if you give it a chance. Much better offroad then what he got instead.
I am a huge fan of the DR350. I have owned 2 and some of my best riding memories are on them. So believe me when I say that thing was a pile! I couldn't rip anyone off by selling it without fixing it, so I put quite a bit of time and money into it before selling it. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I lost on that one for sure. - Justin

I would take the Enduro bikes like xr and Dr any day. I've rebuilt them many times on a budget. They're the best

Lads them bikes are pennies compared to here in uk its expensive you got some bargains there I'd take the xr or dr 350 or the old xls air cooled for me
