So glad to see some vintage bikes in this, especially the Suzuki GS and Kawi KZ! RockyMountain you guys rock! Been ordering parts from you guys ever since I can remember. The RM cash is awesome, I always seem to forget about it, and when I placed my order last week for a few odds and ends, a $30 something order ended up being $5. Stoked for this series!
Does it start? Oh no it hasn't run in 27 years! So I bought it anyway. Hahaha I love it. Almost as good as the horror I felt when he pulled out 4 carbs.
I think I’d have stuck with the venerable DR350, very reliable and the engines are bulletproof! May not be the fastest, but it would just keep on plugging along! Good luck to all of you…. can’t wait to see your next episode!
I rode a SP500 for a long time and absolutely loved it. It had the same fade on the gas tank. I got it for $600, fixed it up and rode it as my daily. Most fun I’ve had.
I am already on episode 3 and went back just to comment on the previous videos because they all deserve more traction. Geez, this is really what an adventure with friends should look like. I envy you guys very much. Amazing production
I love this. I don’t even want to tell you how many of these bikes I’ve owned and “adventure “ ridden. I’m surprised not to see a Honda 650. This brings me right back to being young, poor and wanting to do adventure stuff. I love it.
Lol. Carb shit is so true. When it comes to buying used bikes. It needs the carb cleaned has about a 10% probability. It almost always means .... ( I don't know what broke... or it's roached) If your buddy ask you to fix his bike. Good chance it's a dirty carb lol but not when buying bikes from strangers
Of course. My ‘98 dr350 (dirt model) made it across Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas panhandle, New Mexico (south to north) and up to Pagosa Springs, CO. Mostly on gravel…then rode it another few years before I sold it. This was 2005ish.
Whaaaat I feel so offended! He bought the DR350N (or R) Model which is insane to ride when in good working condition. And the engine is also a real powerhouse with the flat side carb. I just paid a grand for a DR350N in pieces in Germany as they are pretty rare but sooooo good to ride!
Trust me, $500 was way too much. That think was a pile. I had to put in a new timing chain, carb, Tires, and fix about 10 stripped out bolts just to make it decent enough to sell. - Justin
@@rmatvmc okok I forgive you. These things are so capable and robust that people forget to maintain them and then they are beyond repair... But I am sure you would have easily outdone the competition on it :)
You cant find a running bike in the northwest for less than 2500 anymore. I've been trying to find and old dual sport for my buddy for about 2 months with no luck. We have 1998 XR400's selling for $4500 here...
This series is FN GREAT.....Chase how's the knee......the Ninja bike has a 1% chance of making it...."So I'm saying there's a chance".....I need to work there, any openings for a retired 62yr old on a BMW 1250GSA
Ha ha thanks Stan! Chase just got the OK to ride again, so he's doing as good as he could. We love the GS! You just might have to swap manufacturers to keep up on this ride! lol - Wes
Was into it until he ditched the DR350. Granted that was a neglected tweeker example of one. But they are great bikes if you give it a chance. Much better offroad then what he got instead.
I am a huge fan of the DR350. I have owned 2 and some of my best riding memories are on them. So believe me when I say that thing was a pile! I couldn't rip anyone off by selling it without fixing it, so I put quite a bit of time and money into it before selling it. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. I lost on that one for sure. - Justin
Ha ha you are correct a few of them are pretty rough! It's totally a MadMax feel... Remember this is episode 1.. You gotta see the bikes when they are cleaned up! - Wes
Lads them bikes are pennies compared to here in uk its expensive you got some bargains there I'd take the xr or dr 350 or the old xls air cooled for me
Absolutely as it's 98 percent rider so as long as it runs. We also know adventure riders in real world are just street riders who may hit a dirt road from time to time.
The rules sound like my lifestyle anyway! I'm in the process of doing the top end of an 82 Suzuki RS175, got if fairly cheap, giving it some TLC, and planning on riding the snot out of it
Big big Motolove! Love my very own Kawasaki. Always putting up the good stuff like Delta Parole, Metallica, Alice In Chains and others when I am working on her and sometimes even on drive! Moto is life
@@rmatvmcHaha. It was all great but Episode 7, you guys took those bikes on "trails" that most adv bikes would struggle with. 😲 Apparently it's true, who needs things like rear brakes or shocks?
Have you guys heard of Dick Brass? He used to live in New Hampshire but moved to Helper, Utah back in the 1980s. I know Dick personally but haven't seen him in many years. Anyway, Dick is the guy that laid out Five Miles of Hell and the other paint marked trails in that area for the BLM. Dick rode a Yamaha TT600 when marking those trails out...!!!
Great watch here! I would have liked the belt drive left on the Kawasaki to see how it does. Heard some Harley riders just loosen them up (so the rocks n dirt just fall out) and they do great. This would have been a good test.
Check out the entire series here!!

Found out about this from Gabe at Torture Test Magazine. His video was epic. I can’t wait to watch the whole series here!
So excited for this, by far some of the best bike series ever made with both of the $500 challenges and now this
You guys need to bring Gabe on full time!
Cinematic masterpiece
I had the 84' XL600. Dang thing was bulletproof. I mean a complete tank, ran and ran... Pulling for ol' Red.
Great job guys!! Gabe is a good add. Hopefully Ray and Chase will be back on the next one.

Aww yes loads of videos uploaded by you guys tonight happy days big fat 1 to smoke in and watch these
This video has such good timing, just as I was looking for a cheap adv bike for the summer!! Awesome work.
The guy going over the handlebars cracked me up 😂😂😂
