Wow this guy was really professional. I’ve been putting off getting my glass replaced because of the fear of calling the wrong person over to do the job and having my pride n joy begin to rust a few years later because people don’t like being told to be careful and not scratch your paint and don’t care to touch it up with paint they just won’t tell you
Oh dude you don’t know how thrilled I was at the end of the video when you mentioned “if any of you guys are in the socal area hit up kdautoglass” 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Thanks for the comments, Jorge has been helping us for many years now. He's a great guy, runs a great shop and does very professional work. We were thrilled when he was okay being filmed for our VW Passat TDI windshield replacement. Glad you are also local here in SoCal so you can get taken care of. Let us know how things go with your glass replacement. Cheers!
Thanks for the comments, appreciate the feedback. Jorge has been taking care of all our windows for many years. He's a great guy that does excellent work. Glad you enjoyed the video, Cheers!
My car is leaking from driver side, where roof and windscreen meets, i have found little leak behind the garnish there, can i fill that leak without removing the windscreen.
Thanks for the question AK. We reached out to Jorge to ask him directly about your issue. He advised to have a professional window installer to remove the glass. Many times the leaks are the "symptom" and not the problem. The only way to be sure of the issue is unfortunately remove the glass and reseal everything the proper way. Cheers!
I did this back in the 80s and 90s, when the Fein tool was the best thing if you could afford one this looks more difficult and easier too- I remember some old guys wouldn't use the full urethane and would butyl tape the glass in and then edge seal it- not proper then or now
Thanks for the question, he charged $150 for the windshield installation. We supplied the OEM VW glass which was $350, so we are all in $500 to get back to factory specs. Thanks for hanging out, Cheers!
Omg $150 ?!?!?! That’s it??? Wow what state are you in? That’s hell of a deal man ! The sun went down already he must have been working for 2 hours at your place I can’t see how taking all that care and materials is even worth his time 🙏🏼
Hey Max, thanks for the question. I'm very confident in Jorge's ability in dealing with a variety of vehicles. He has helped us with our 1983 BMW E21 windshield that still uses the old windshield gasket to attach the glass. If you are in SoCal, I would reach out to him with your concerns. Performing a windshield replacement on a 1997 vehicle should not be an issue. Good luck on your project, Cheers!

Good video without all the extra talking about stuff that doesn't make sense. I'll be definitely saving this video. I have to install my window.
Thanks for the comments James, glad you enjoyed the video.
Cheers!
Great video and props to KD for allowing you to document the process!

You're that annoying customer. He was so nice to put up with you.

Let's see how your experience and your tools deal with a 26 year old windshield?
