Thanks for putting this together! Appreciate the effort! Cool to see gamer cat make an appearance 😂. Most the games I want to play run well it seems. (Wished Jax, Sly, Metroid, Baldurs Gate and Valkyrie Profile, were playable tho). But still looks like a quality handheld I need to get!
What's the difference between works well and playable? Frame rate?
Yup, playable basically meant games with a lower framerate and games that are still playable depending on the person's tolerance level. I would still play it if I didn't have any options available and if that was a game I really wanted to play. Some people may argue saying that I marked certain games as "works well" with a lower framerate than their expectations, but I'm my books, those are still ok to be considered as "works well" for a not so powerful T618 chip. If people are expecting every game to work with 60fps to be marked as works well, then there will be very few games to be included in that list. I hope it makes sense. Mega Man X - Command Mission sold me on this, I love that game and really wish CAPCOM gave it a second chance, remake that entire game and it would look amazing

i just don't understand why they designed the top of the handheld square and the bottom rounded. Plus the top part looks too thin compared to the rest of the handheld. SO I just can't stop thinking it's ugly hahah. But honestly impressed that it plays gamecube! Great video

Go for it 👍🏻 they both have the same chip, so you can expect a similar experience. I'd recommend installing Gamma os if you are getting RG405M

Need your honest opinion I have an RG35xx also a game Sir X2 pro for my phone and I just bought the RG405M for the Black Friday deal and I absolutely love it but what's your opinion on gaming on a phone with a controller verse a dedicated device I know my phone is way more powerful but for some reason I can't get immersed while playing on the phone plus I hate wasting my battery life
I see your only actual concern is not wasting your phone battery life. If that's the problem, it's better to carry a power bank. Yes, the phone is way more powerful these days, so you can't go wrong with attaching a controller. But you can't get that form factor of, for example, rg405m. Honestly, I have never gamed on the phone much, I may be stupid, not utilizing it. For me, the phone is just for entertainment(for watching youtube, maybe a movie), communication, and work. I haven't utilized it for gaming since I have so many handhelds now, I don't feel like gaming on it because - I don't want to waste my space, battery and for sure it will get super hot which will eventually reduce the life of it. So yes, to me, playing on a separate handheld is a better choice. Hope it helps 🙂
@@bigretrostudio I think it's not just using battery but also the form factor where with the 405M I can just keep that my other pocket versus holding that controller I don't know I know my phone is so much more powerful and I have all the emulators on it but something about just having a dedicated device is different what's your opinion
How is the performance between this and the retroid pocket flip? I know they both have the same processor and ram but the flip does have active cooling
It's just a similar experience. That active cooling had zero impact on performance from what i observed. I still love clamshell devices, and it's a cool design compared to rg405v, but the same time, rg405v feels a bit more comfortable to play for longer hours compared to flip.

Iv made a video playing ps2 games on Gamma os for rg405m and noticed only some games ran slightly better. The rest were the same. Hope you will check out that video

Not all of them, only some.
Are these the games right out of the box on the emulator?
No, it came with very few gamecube games.

I'm just not getting these results on my 405v. Gamecube runs laggy, audio sounds bad. This is after installing Gamma OS and trying both retroarch dolphin core and standalone dolphin. starting to think my 405v is just a dud.

You need aethersx2 app, after installing, put the settings I mentioned on ps2 games testing video. That's it.

I had already tried my tweak and wrote just playable. Maybe you can try and see if you have better tweaks. Please do comment the settings when you do.
@@bigretrostudio just ordered mine from Aliexpress, I feel like it was a tough decision getting it specially since I have a steam deck but I wanted something a bit smaller and nostalgic (I know that it is chunky). I’m still not sure if I’m going to keep it after getting it or just return it back. But I will definitely post my settings if I get better performance than the one shown in the vid . Totally appreciate your videos been watching them these 2 days prior to ordering 🙏🏻
