Just bought this reel. You were spot on, every side arm cast was to the left and every overhead cast went straight down. After an hour I gave up and caught some fish with my regular reel. Planning on practicing this week in the yard so I can give it another go at the lake this weekend. Great video. Can’t wait to try your tips.
Thank you for letting us know, if there is something specific that you are looking for tips on let us know and we will see if we can get it done on a futureTuesday.
Goodness I ❤️ this genuinely honest review of the Mach SMASH baitcaster combo. I come back to this video as my best reference for my own SMASH combo. A well thought-out and delivered refresher course. Thanks🙏. Your videos always please me and I always learn something new or I get reminded of something I had forgotten about from earlier times fishing. 🤗 And have a wonderful holiday season my cyber friend! ❤️Ya.
Great video I'ma first time buyer and trying bait casters for the first time sir. And this video made me more confident in trying this type of fishing out. I just bought two brand new bait casters thanks for video I'll be in the back yard. Cause yesterday I was the buddy standing there while my friends caught fish lol.
I bought one and I love it, I prefer colored rods and reels, I think the smash is orange, I’m a big UT Vols fan, love your videos, your funny, love a little comedy with learning, thanks
Very much liked your straightforward review and water testing of the LEWS SMASH. I bought the SMASH BAITCASTER COMBO about two weeks ago and I look forward to using it ASAP (got the boat out of storage) later this week. I chose it because of the price point and casting distance ability. I fish larger lakes from a PELICAN MONACO DLX PEDAL BOAT (seriously). Pedal boats can make a little bit of noise compared to a YAK but it's what I have and has served me well over time. Because of the "louder noise factor" in the water the ease of the casting distance BETWEEN me and my target spot gives me a better surprise factor - at least I think it will - hope so. Anyway, that's my plan for fishing my SMASH from my PELICAN. Your video confirmed several thoughts (pros/cons) I had considered before buying it. I believe it is the right choice for me, especially for my current style of fishing. Again, thanks for a straight forward, easy to understand video! Well done!👍.
Thank you for the detailed and thorough comment. It's been years since i have fished from a paddle boat! The combo should serve you well, and the folks at the lake will recognize you from a distance with that Ferrari red unit in your hands. Thanks for watching.
great combo i picked up when it first came out and i havent had any problems yet and ive caught alot of fish on this combo.Do a review on the Lews Reactor combo 7ft 3in 7.5:1 MH FAST ACTION
Don’t give up. I would put at least 30lb braid on it. Buy a practice weight to use and spend a lot of time in the yard. Tighten your knobs down until you learn to use your thumb. There’re a blast once you get over the hump. It won’t take long.
Very informational and entertaining video. Thank you! I’m trying to stay under the $150 mark and I have been looking at this combo or the daiwa fuego with some other rod. What would you recommend between these two or maybe something else? I’ve been fishing my whole life and I’ve been recently getting back into it with my kids. I have tried one other inexpensive baitcaster, Abu Garcia which I ended up returning. By the way, I have some silver hair too, but I like the red. 😜
Just bought the lew's mach 2 the yellow green one, and I am looking for my second rod, I was going to get a 79 to 99 dollar one but for 29 bucks more, this might make a good 2nd reel, any thoughts on a good cheapy combo from 99 to130 thanks
Sorry I have another question. Left retriever comes only with a rod of 6"10 and not 7. Do you think Is still good or better I try to made myself with a right handed? . Thanks in advance.
Questions are welcome! I doubt that you will have much difficulty with the 2" shorter rod. Fish the side that you are comfortable with no matter what people say, I do.
People who know me are laughing. In this and many videos i use a Mepps #5 inline spinner in purple with a gold blade, I catch a lot of Bass on it. In a smaller size you will see a bunch of Trout in our videos are caught on it as well. Thanks for watching.
Daniel Torres: I'm not sure that it would be good for that. you would definitely need to rinse it in freshwater after to prevent rust or pitting of the aluminum.

Last weekend I just buy this fishing pole and I'm learning how to use it. Thanks for the video, it was really useful !!
We're glad you enjoyed it. Hope the combo brings you many fish. Thank you for watching.
Just bought this reel a couple days ago.
Not only was this video a ton of fun to watch, I learned a lot too. Great video. Thanks. Keep it up!
Thank you, I'm betting you will enjoy the reel.

Well, welcome to the BC club! The back yard is where it's @. You'll be yanking lips in no time, thanks for the comment.
The spooling idea is very clever, never thought about it
It does work, can't remember where I saw it first.

That Mach Crush is very orange. Thank you for the kind words!

I wish I watched this video 18 years ago. My first year was rough with baitcastors.
It can certainly be that way! Thanks for watching.
Buying it as my first bsitcaster. Thanks for this video
I feel like it will serve you well. Thanks for letting us know!
This was a fun video
Thank you!
I learned a lot about this combo thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching and letting us know!
I just purchased this and am looking forward to casting it in the water. I still paid 150 at cabellas 3 years later.
It's a nice unit, you should get some good service from it. Thanks for participating.

Might have to check that one out When we have wet water again. Thanks for watching.
I just bought the same rod and reel combo, Im new to baitcasting. So far I failed badly so I had to spool it again.

Learning with mono in place of braid will save you some cash until you have the hang of it. It's a nice combo for learning.
@@sevenfishyoutube too late I used Japanese braid lol expensive stuff. I switch to fluorocarbon.

I think Lews is making some very useful products right now and I would have no trouble recommending this combo. Thank you for joining us!

If you can find this one somewhere, it's worth it. They are popular and not super available.

Sorry, a little late to this video, but was this the medium one or the medium heavy, also what size 6’10 or 7’2
Thank you.
I am wondering what kind of inline spinner you are throwing and what color? I am looking at getting into throwing some.

It is available in left handed retrieve.

The Reel is cool. Have it on a Abu 👍🏼
Enjoy it and thanks for interacting.
So the reel cast far doesn’t back lash easy like it cast a mile
New to fishing , can you saltwater fish with this
Daniel Torres: I'm not sure that it would be good for that. you would definitely need to rinse it in freshwater after to prevent rust or pitting of the aluminum.
Uncagedbeast22 Jeehe It is a baitcaster so you can backlash it for sure, but I had a good experience with the combo.
Damn are we gonna talk about that 🎂 though
Thanks for watching.
What fish line you're using ?
I believe I mentioned in the video that it was 14 pound Trilene XL
Felt like I needed to leave a comment below
Now that's funny!
