Lapu-Lapu DID NOT KILL Magellan

  • Lapu-Lapu DID NOT KILL Magellan. On April 27, 1521, a fierce battle ensued between the Philippine tribes and the Spaniards which is now infamously known as: The Battle of Mactan. Paintings show that Lapu-Lapu, the Filipino hero, killed the Portugues explorer Ferdinand Magellan. But this might not be true. Ferdinand Magellan was really killed in Mactan, but probably not by Lapu-Lapu himself. According to the journal by Antonio Pigafetta, an Italian scholar who was also there during the battle, Ferdinand Magellan first got wounded on his left leg by a sword, fell forward, and then finally killed by multiple Filipino warriors. Other sources say that it was a poison arrow that hit Ferdinand Magellan on the leg that disabled him before getting killed. While it's likely that Lapu-Lapu did not kill Ferdinand Magellan himself, him, leading the defense on Mactan is why he is regarded a hero today.

Learn from history to never trust the enemy neither would i believe a writer to dictate us of his story, warriors engaged the army of the enemy, only a leader hunts the head of his enemy and that's Lapu-lapu and it was called battle strategy. In his time never oppose an order or beheaded, so who killed Magellan again.

So, you believe the words of those who conquered and enslave them, rather than the words of your own Ancestor?
There are many variations in that story, but really, them saying that Magellan didn't really die from the hands of Lapu-Lapu, is just them wanting to cover up their shame, as their great lord lose to someone they look down on. Just like what the other guy said, warriors engaged the army of the enemy, only the Leader hunts for the head of the enemy. And that is something that even tribal warriors follows. And our Ancestors, who were in those times, follows that as well.
I mean, this are the Spanish who manipulate our people's histories with lies, like how they said that our God Bathala was the same Christian GOD that they believe in, despite the obvious lies in that. I mean, the gods they worship is said to only speak the truth, and the truth only, so why does he had to introduce himself using a different name, and is even known to associate himself with others who Call themselves God's, the Diwata's, and not with Angels.
Never trust the words of Spanish when it comes to our histories, only the words of our own ancestors.

@@percyrajapaksa4194 No lapu-lapu was not Muslim. Lapu-lapu was a native of mactan, therefore he was a pagan. The natives in what we now know as Visayas, were tattooed and ate pork (which is haram in Islam), they were also constantly raided for slaves and plunder by the Muslim Sultanates and polities from the Mindanao area. So, no Lapu-lapu was not a Muslim, he most likely practiced indigenous religion, Buddhism, or Hinduism.

after i watch the movie El Cano and Magellan, i cried.. they portray Magellan as a hero who sacrifice himself and left behind to save his men while Lapu Lapu cowardly throw a spear at him in the leg and he approach the dying magellan, ganging up on him while he was alone and they cowardly butchered him like a savage animal! in real life, Lapu Lapu protected his people and his families. without Lapu Lapu, many filipinos would not had been born and he did what he had to do so that our generation lives! Lapu Lapu is no coward who throws spear at your back, he was a national hero who protected his descendants, us filipinos!! 😡😡

What most people dont understand, is that, it never intend to falsify whether Lapu-lapu killed magellan, some may mistook this, but lapu2x rather lead the battle that leads to the defeat Magellan's army including himself. Its his leadership that won the battle.

I watched a documentary about this story and according to researchers during the time when Magellan landed in Mactan and had encounter with the island's native, Lapu-lapu as chieftain of his tribe/community was already an old man likely on his late 70's or 80's.
With that, it supported the theory that it wasn't Lapu-lapu who killed. Magellan himself but his warriors... he(Lapu lapu) just happened to be honored of that event since he was the Chieftain.

From the Spanish books: Fernando de Magallanes fue asesinado por los lugareños en la isla de Cebú, en Filipinas, después de que se involucrara en la batalla de Mactán entre dos jefes rivales.
translated to english: Ferdinand Magellan was assassinated by locals on the island of Cebu in the Philippines after he became involved in the Battle of Mactan between two rival chiefs.
There is no mentioning of Lapu Lapu in the Spain history books that Lapu Lapu killed him. This is very interesting.

I heard another story, If I remember it that the story was that Magellan actually was betrayed by his own men. What I heard was he was not given support by his own sailer because they wanted to return home but his job was to continue the expedition, and another thing was he was Protuguese and the Spanish crew didn't like him sense he from a different rival nation. So when the battle happen the ship didn't provided cannon fire nore backup troops, and then when the battle happen they allow him to be cut off from the rest of the solders then kill by the natives.

Europeans are known for twisting history because they cannot accept that Magellan was killed by a native and later history will recognize it. It can be remembered in history that before Magellan's troops attacked, he was recognized by Lapu lapu's men in gathering offered by Datu Zulu so Magellan is already marked even though he has never met Lapu lapu. Magellan was hit in the leg with a poisoned arrow but they gave Lapu lapu the honor of ending his life as a tribute to the leader datu of Mactan.
