Hi Jamie I use a helicopter rig a lot and after watching your underwater footage with Rob Hughes it confirmed my thoughts. I find using a very short hooklength like a method rigs works brilliantly, especially with popped up maggots. I want the bait near the feeder after all that is what is attracting the fish. Shame international rules handicap feeder anglers.
Oh yeah Bill it hinders the anglers presentation in so many ways but I can see why they have those rules. How close do you present the hook bait to the feeder?
CATCH Fishing Channel Hi Jamie well I prefer a hooklength of no more than 4 ins, usually 3 ins and use Drennan’s Fluorocarbon in 0.15, 3 lbs for roach. For big fish I will go much stronger with a stronger hook. I have found popped up baits to be incredibly effective outfishing baits on the bottom by up a margin of about 6/1. I will experiment with hooklengths as well as some days the fish are often off the bottom and a longer hooklength can score. I often skip groundbait and use stickymag in a cage feeder when the fish are hungry.. I did a video on this one very cold winter afternoon on a difficult clear, weedy and deep club lake and took a good net of roach to nearly 2 lbs and have done this many times. Have a look at this so you know I’m not talking rubbish, the title is “ a short session on the feeder” regards Bill

Nice one 👍
Nice 1 m8
Crallusso safety link is my choice for hook attachment.
Do you need a weight-forward style of feeder for a helicopter rig or will a regular side weight ed feeder still work?
You can use any feeder or bomb mate
Can i catch minnows on it?
well we couldnt see nothing of what he did.
Honestly? I couldn't see what you were doing there and only had an idea of what you'd done when I saw the finished rig. Sorry kid 😞 🎣
