This chat is so significant for anyone who is thinking of going into reselling. It is hard work - there are no short cuts. Sure, you may get lucky here and there but you will fill your storage with junk that doesn't sell. You need knowledge, knowledge, knowledge and that takes time, discipline and commitment. That’s crazy about the south pole jeans. Over 15 years ago I use to work in a outlet store that would sell them super cheap brand new. Then eventually they could reach up to 80 or 90% off. That was years and years ago though. Not many bought them back then. If I wanted I could have got them up to 90%off plus an employee discount up to 30%. I wonder which ones are popular today.

Love the insight! A great follow up would be breaking down how $250,000 in sales on eBay actually translates to dollars in the bank. As we all know those numbers are bloated because eBay includes Shipping in their sales, face palm. Why do they do that? Realistically after COG, eBay fees, shipping fees, what are we bringing home?

Thank you and I just watched Carrie do your challenge this morning. Good Lord I was very impressed and so interested in the sales numbers and how much you would have to list every day. Both of you are so impressive and that's what the old saying of "10% of all sales people make the big money". Absolutely true? Great video and interview. Best
On ebay according to terapeak, just about every single brand, 80% of the sales go to 20-25% of sellers.
I'm a seamstress and reseller. I do some repairs, mainly sewing belt loops back on and small patches and pocket repairs, repairing lining in coats and jackets on higher end stuff. I definitely won't do huge repairs.
I agree, such an advantage to have that skill!

People don’t believe that tech had that schedule and hit those numbers by himself because they won’t accept the fact that they fall so short, not even close, so instead of accepting that, they just dismiss it. They literally can’t handle the truth.

Maybe somebody already asked this question, do you have successful people but do not have TH-cam channels or are on social media
I didn't start social media until 15 years into my reselling career & I was the #1 seller in every men's clothing category. Go to my very first video on the channel.
99 percent of people don't have social media and crush it.

i remember selling my old south pole jeans with cool design on them for $30 ish. I found the same pair on sold comps for 100+.

On the size difference from tag to actual measured. If it is NOT on a leather patch like Levi's, I cut off the size tag if its the nylon type tags, if there is a difference of more than 1 inch. After doing this my return rate and questions about size went way down. Just my 2 cents.

This is so helpful! Me personally love wearing jeans and sourcing them but i find it selling slowly then tops or dresses.
Certain ones sell good, some take a little bit longer. I prefer tops as well
My 30 yo son wears a 28-30 waist. He loves American Eagle and will pay whatever to get what he likes.

I’ve always thought jeans were a great niche because it’s really an item in our wardrobe that needs to be semi regularly replenished. We wear them out like shoes and we need them. So the demand is consistent.
A lot of people make good money selling them, but just like everything else, got to get the right ones, leave the wrong ones behind.
This was great. I learned a lot from you guys on this podcast. I do some jeans myself and its great to hear your process Carrie. Maybe I gotta do a challenge like the 120 one. Prob cant do the 120 but maybe I can do 60. Lol. Thank you guys!

I wanted to ask you, do you catalog every purchase you make on an excel sheet? For example I bought $30 worth of clothes at a garage sale today, should I catalog each shirt I get for $2 or is that an unnecessary use of my time?
Yes & no. If you have a good understanding of your numbers it is unnecessary to log every single one. If you do not have a good understanding of your numbers you should log everything individually and manually to really see where the money is going

I canceled on an order a while ago because I didn’t allow for international orders and I saw the person was sending it through a freight forwarder to Hong Kong. I’ve heard of other people shipping it to the freight forwarder but then for whatever reason it doesn’t get to the buyer and the buyer makes a claim on it. It was an expensive item so I didn’t want to risk it. I thought it was a scam at the time. The persons account said Hong Kong so idk why they even allowed him to look at my listing. Needless to say I got negative feedback for that one.
A freight forwarder is technically not an international purchase because it's going to an American address. We did a call in the group all about our seller protections. Freight forwarding purchases lose all buyer protections & you are not responsible for the item after it reaches the freight forwarder.
This exact thing happened to me. The address was in Cali but the name was a business. I canceled the order and got negative feed back.
The reason I canceled was I googled the company and the reviews said how they were scammers.

@@bunkerbunny5 Yea your situation is basically the exact same as mine. I got a little freaked out as well and just canceled but I should’ve read over my seller protections or called eBay instead of cancelling. It’s a learning lesson I guess

July jeans sales, to me, are back to school sales.
Makes total sense!
How do you find the store name for Ebay sellers to learn pricing, how to list etc.,? New to selling (have not started yet) and trying to decide on what "niche" to specialize and purchase. Seems many TH-cam people who have video on Selling they don't give you their Ebay store name for one to learn on their own.
Why would you learn somebody else's store when you can learn how ebay works instead?
Pick a subject, search ebay, learn pricing, learn keywords, learn margin, learn nuance, etc
You can learn everything about someone else's store but what if you can't find what they can find?
If their whole store is lily pullitzer? Unless you live on the coast being an expert in lily isn't going to be helpful for you if you live in Nebraska

Yes, we were trying that as well, as we will start with a low budget to purchase good items for re-sale; but seems prices are all over the place on Ebay and not sure if the listings are good. We were trying to see how to get the names of stores where sellers are very good, selling good items and making true sales. We'll keep researching, however.

I need a mentor! Where do I go!? I'm still super small, only 100+ items listed, averaging about 7 sales a day, but I want to go larger down the road but I want to do it the right way.
I work in Cyber Security, I make good money, 6 figures with just that, but I legitimately ENJOY sourcing and reselling. I'm 2 months into eBay, with just over $5,000 in sales, I just feel like I could be doing so much more.
Any help or direction to help would be greatly appreciated!
Carrie joined my reseller group when she first started selling on ebay. In her second & now third year she's doing fantastic, she makes good money, she brought her husband home to help with the business, etc.
She cut 5-10 years of her reselling learning curve off by just doing the correct things first as we talk about on the podcast.

@@technsports There are none, that's why I asked. There are other selvedge denim jackets listed, but not Diesel or a brand I'd recognise. Starting price on those is around £60 I believe. Taking that into consideration, asking for £100 wouldn't seem that crazy. What do you think? Thanks
