The 1983 WSM was held outside USA for first time and was in New Zealand. Bill was invited by David Webster and Dougie Edmunds however he demanded an appearance fee to travel and compete. David ignored his request. He was not banned. In 1985 Bill competed in the first World Muscle power championship (also run by Webster and Edmunds) and was beaten by Capes and JPS. Same in 1987. Bill won the 1988 WMPC though beating Capes and JPS.
I’m actually 63 years old. So I have seen Bill at his best. I really believe that Kaz is THE goat of strength. He won the powerlifting and world strongman at the same time. Give him the gear and modern training he would still dominate.

If Kaz was to strong isn’t that what the sport sees world strongest man I think kaz got robbed.if they let him compete after the third title who knows how many more he could have won 5or 6 there just jealous

The fact that he would still give JF a run for his money at the max squat at the ASC speaks volumes. I’ve read somewhere that he did a 230kg standing overhead press. People weren’t pulling with straps back then and he did 415 kg raw. No suits either. I can’t even imagine how good he would have been if he trained today.
Job Paui Sigmarsen didn't have pure strength. He was the athletic strongman. Guys like Kaz, zudrunis, Mariusz, Hofthor, Eddie Hall and Brian Shaw are the strongman's worlds Strongest Man. If you are in the sport competing at over 300 and you can't bench 600, OHP well over 400, Squat well over 900 and deadlift well over 900, then your claim as a strongman is a joke. Larry Wheels, Ed Coan, John Haack, Eric Lillybridge, Stan the "Rhino" are all much smaller than the WSM competitors and have enough pure strength to out lift 95% of the competition at the world's which is kind of sad given that only Eric Lillybridge is close to big enough to compete and he has the weakest bench of the group although a raw squat over 1000 and a DL of over 900 .makes him plenty strong. Larry Wheels and Ed Coan would have no problem with the overhead presses needed for strongman as.both dominate these lifts with Ed weighing between 215-235 at his best and Larry weighing 275-285 at his best. John Haack with a triple body weight bench raw, a 4 times bw squat and a 4.7 times bodyweight DL. If you are a WSM elite competitor and are not capable of placing in at least the top 5 in a full powerlifting meet, then your absolute strength absolutely needs to be higher to be considered WSM. I am not referring to the competition as much as I am the concept of bring the strongest Man. Kaz was ahead of his time and if he had access to the training equipment and coaching of today, I don't think any of today's competitors would be able to beat him unless he missed the peak and they nailed it. Understand that he didn't have implements and a training center to prepare for a lot of the events in a realistic setting. He would be raw benching in the mid 700s, hitting a raw 1050 squat, At least 1000 in the deadlift, A 500 OHP all easily at 320.
Weak minded? He beat everyone with major injuries. Even during his competitive peak he was not the biggest, and look at the powerlifting gear available in competition. The benches sucked, the judging sucked. He benched 661 raw with a close grip, no arch, on a flimsy bench training like a bodybuilder. His absolute strength potential was far ahead of f these guys today few of whom can match him on gym poundages and Outweigh him or n average by about 80 pounds except for the strongest Man on non strength Lifts Job Paul sigmarsan who was so overrated. Mariusz and Zudrunis are great. Hofthor, Hall and Shaw have such an unfair advantage. Weight but if they were training with Kaz in a modern setting , he would have more absolute strength than all of them. Only Mariusz carried as much dense muscle as Kaz and with the gear and dose considered to be no big deal today he would be able to carry another 40 pounds of real muscle not just look like another prized farm animal.

I think that was a very good and very honest video on KAZ he was great but a really bad loser. Thanks for posting !!
