- This is a video I made to compare the sounds between the McLaren P1 GTR and the Ferrari FXX K. Both cars where filmed on the famous Belgium F1 circuit SPA-Francorchamps, same camcorder, same external mic, same weather conditions and so on!

You can take a 450 hp stock LSX cram 30 lbs of boost into it and make 1000hp all day. You can stick it in ugly a fat ass truck with shit aero and it would fuck up and V12 head the fuck up

GTR has so many awesome mechanical sounds going on, reminds me of an airshow! The FXX K just sounds so exotic and those shifts are badass. Both cars sound incredible

I personally prefer the deep rumble of the P1. Reminds me of the Group C Era with the Sauber C9 and C11, with their roaring M119 V8s.

@Antares X speed matters right? Fxxk is faster than P1 gtr to clarify your doubt. Its a 1080hp car! With active aerodynamics(controlled by 21 computer) Very light weight yes lighter than the McLaren. It has Formula 1 traction control system. And yeah most importantly the Qualify Mode!.

McLaren's engine noise has always been it's Achilles heal - no matter what model.
People often forget that the legendary Mclaren F1's best party piece was the engine from BMW. Mclaren using the same turbo engine with different size turbos to all their models, is a big reason why their price drop like stone. There is no drama with Mclaren cars, a very important part in high-end sports cars. They mainly offer performance.

***** So what has one to do with the other? You can appreciate modern tech and also great sports cars. You don't have to glue yourself to ONE car and hate all others. And I think FXX Ferrari cars are a few steps above a BMW sports car. Don't you think so? Well, above almost anything else.
Even that engine, in my opinion, was not the best sounding V12 of its era. I think that honor goes to the CLK GTR's. Mercedes V12's are in my opinion the best sounding, followed by Ferrari, then perhaps Lamborghini. When Lamborghini really wants to make an insane engine they can, Diablo GTR's and such sounded insane. BMW's only notable V12 to me is the one in the F1, while that does sound great, still gets beaten by the others in my opinion.
But now that Mclaren makes their own engine, meh. I respect the speed they put in their cars but I don't need to be the fastest twat on the road. I'd rather have something that sounds great and makes me smile everytime I get in, than know my car is x tenths faster to x speed.

The sounds of these cars are really subjective to personal taste. If you like a smooth, roaring AMG type sound, the P1 is better, if you like a loud, scary sounding V12, the FXX K is better.

I love the contrast between the two cars. You got the deep, angry baseline of the Mclaren, and then there’s the high pitched suprano orchestra of the Ferrari. They both sound incredible for completely different reasons

I love both cars, but IMO hands-down the FXX-K has the better exhaust note. Unmuffled, normally-aspirated V12 redlining at over 9000 RPM = aural heaven.

I had the opportunity to ride in a Ferrari F430 GT at Las Vegas Motor Speedway a few months ago when I went on vacation, it was amazing...I can't even imagine what it would be like to get ride along in either one of these amazing machines.

A friend once told me that the one guy in the band that gets all the girls, without fail, is the bass player. The FXX is the lead singer, the flashy guy in front howling into the microphone. When I hear that scream and howl of the FXX I get nostalgic, knowing it's emanating what has been the pinnacle sound that is the poster-child of all race cars, but that P1 is the bass player. It hits a visceral note with several different tones that quite literally makes it sound like something not made of this world. It's a fucking space ship that can be bought if you've got the means. Both are incredible. The FXX's sound is timeless, but nothing in the history of motorsports (at least that I've seen,) comes close to sounding like a pissed off and wrapped out P1. I've always considered the best sounding car of all time was a Porsche 917. I still think it is, but that P1... damn.
