      You're very welcome. Wow! 108! I can't wait to tell my mom and dad about you. They think they're the oldest people at 93 who watch my videos. So glad the video was helpful!

    I thought I had the basic knowledge of my phone until I got errors on texting. Thank you, Rich,
    for your instructional video on texting. I loved it, showing the pencil icon as a way to get to the text. Your presentation was awesome, and your voice control is certainly meant for seniors in mind.

    I'm 53 years old and I have never owned a smart phone. My cell phone is a flip phone from 2003. Yes, it still works and I only pay (on average) about $7.00 per month. That said, I have been following the technology without actually owning a "smart phone", and I am slowly (very slowly) warming up to the idea of owning a smart phone. These videos are giving me an insider's view of how the software/user interface works. Extremely educational.

      I used to be like you (I'm 50 now) and once you get a smartphone you wonder how you lived without one. Technology can be scary but with unlimited tutorials on TH-cam for any model phone out there and just spending the time to practice and learn features it becomes easily. You can't watch a TH-cam video with your flip phone can you? And if you can it will take up all your data and freeze up and won't be able to handle if lol.

      For seven dollars a month, whatever else I did I’d keep that flip phone as a 2nd active emergency phone.

    Thank you for this video. So great.
    I like to add in the field under Last Name a description of who that person is to me, for example, plumber, daughter, friend from church, house cleaner, work colleague, electrician, husband’s mother, primary care doctor, eye doctor, next-door neighbor, etc. When I was in the hospital my daughter was calling family and close friends about my condition. I’m sure glad she didn’t call my auto mechanic to give him my medical report. Also, if I have a memory glitch and can’t recall, say, my electrician’s name, I can search “electrician” and his name and info will come up.
    I also use the notes box a lot for extra information like opening and closing time of a business, or the name of a person to contact there.
    I love my iPhone 12 Max!

    Thank you for posting this. My mom lives in AZ and I am in PA. Somehow her contacts got mixed up and I was having trouble explaining to her how to edit her contacts. I just sent this to her! Thank you again for making it simple to follow.

    Thanks Rich. Great set of instructive videos. But, you showed us how to add a contact. How do you delete a contact?

    • @cybersal7
      @cybersal7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go into your contacts open the one you want to delete.
      The very last entry at the bottom of their page in red text is “DELETE CONTACT”

    Tapping the phone number in contacts does not make the call for me on iphone se? I have to tap a "home" icon above it to make the call?

    Thanks for replying Rich, your mum is a year older than I am. Do you need music anyway? It seems to be obligatory nowadays . Jennifer

  • @avimango46
    @avimango46 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1) How to delete the unwanted contact numbers is not understood by me ? 2) I keep my iPhone 6 without a sim card and use for viewing the TH-cam.3) I can adjust the speed of video as per my requirements 5) To listen again to what I see but don’t understand then I click the left side of video to go back 10 seconds at a time. To go forward then tap on the right side twice.

    My husband who is absolutely terrible with using anything electronic, etc. tried to run a back-up on his new iPhone (because he was getting a message stating that he hadn't backed up in the 2 weeks since he first got the phone) and he ended up losing ALL 200+ contacts that he had just finished entering! At least that's what the screen is saying....NO CONTACTS! What might have happened to them?!!? Thanks!

    • @RichBowlin
      @RichBowlin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're connected to iCloud (which you probably are) your contacts are still there. So my guess is you disconnected from your iCloud account. You can reconnect in the accounts area in Settings. Hopefully that will get you back up and running. Good luck!

    • @CUTSIE240
      @CUTSIE240 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RichBowlin Thank you for responding so quickly! Yes...I figured it out, thank goodness! I was looking back and forth between my phone and his to see where the trouble might be and I noticed that at the top of the list of Contacts where it shows my name and underneath that it says "My Card" and there's a round circle with my initials in it....that was missing on his phone. And it made mention of Siri and iCloud, so I just hit that button and re-entered his Apple ID and his password and he was back in business! And boy, was he ever relieved that he didn't have to re-enter 200+ contacts!! I would say that he owes me a nice dinner out somewhere, wouldn't you?! Lol. Thanks again for getting back to me! And your videos are amazingly helpful!

    • @RichBowlin

    DONT throw that little black book away.
    At least keep a copy of your immediate relatives or friends numbers because when you lose the iPhone or the battery is dead, you may need to rely on your memory for the telephone number.
    Used to be on house phones everybody had the same area code in the same prefix but that’s not the case anymore.
    For me when I’m in an emergency, my memory shuts off.

    • @RichBowlin

      My iPhone is backed up on my computer and my cellular iPad, as well as my MacBook Pro. I keep a landline phone for disasters when power is out. (Also use it to find my iPhone when I’ve misplaced it and it’s too far away for me to hear Siri when she tells me where she is.)

      Hi Paul. I'm getting better at making videos as time goes by. I've really toned down the music in my later videos. Even my 92 yr old mom said the music was distracting. Hopefully some of my later videos will be easier to watch and helpful too.
