I saw Joakim on CNA a few weeks ago and I was telling my mum about his admirable resilience and how I wish I'm like this too!
I remember how much hate he got back then, and how hard he worked over the years, found his niche and how successful well-liked he is as a radio and event host.
And he also seems veryyyyyy humble.
    Great role model.
(And the hate comments were ridiculous, it was just a talent show lol. Don't like then change channel lah. No need to feel so strongly about it and waste time and energy to type horrible comments.)

People really need to realise that their hate comments on social media can deeply affect the person involved. To them it's just a comment posted without much thought and hidden behind a screen, but to the person involved, it's very hurtful. It's amazing that Joakim could come out of this a lot stronger, but those days must've been really dark for him especially being on a public platform.
I used to post some stuff of my Parkour learning journey on Tiktok, and my videos went viral for the wrong reasons and got lots of hate comments. People called me all sorts of things on there, compared me to my famous husband that is the face of Parkour in Singapore, and there were even some comments telling me to go k*ll myself, and death threats. Same goes to some of the ladies in my Parkour class who posted videos of themselves as absolute beginners because they were so happy to share their love for this sport. We all got very affected by the hate and at some point wanted to stop celebrating our progress cuz we felt so afraid and ashamed due to the comments. Glad we did not stop!

Its quite sad to hear all the negative comments that were thrown at him n how much it affected the 18 yrs old soul very deeply. Thats the harsh reality of the entertainment industry but hey at least ur successful now n u proved them wrong. Jiayou Joakim...n yeah u still look good btw

I see Joakim as a survivor. It's not easy being a public figure. He's very natural and such a good professional host for ndp and other events. Just work for the money and your future, Joakim.

Joakim, I don’t know you personally but I must say I’m proud of you. Now in My early forties and a father of 3, I remember tuning in to 98.7FM One fine Day in My Car just to reminisce My youth, than I heard you introducing yourself in your segment. I thought to Myself. “Hey Wait a min… Isn’t this the kid from One of the Singapore Idols?? Not bad, not too bad at all.” Happy to see you doing well kid! Tough Times don’t last, ONLY tough Men do! Keep it up! 💪🏻👍🏻

Comments made by the judges were for “entertainment effect”. But it can hurt if you take it too seriously.
Sometimes the issue tend to magnify within ourselves when we pay too much attention to it.
In actuality, not everyone watched SG Idol. And I was one of them. 😁
So don’t be too hard on yourself.
We always feel like 💩when we are deep in the matter but once we are able to walk out of it, it’s just another episode in life.

0:03 reminds me of viviane bala. He seems to b as eloquent as bala.
Reminds me of Bala's most famous debate with K Shanmugam, back when bala used to be a student and had a spirit of rebelion.
