    Meanwhile Nico is still ignoring it because Rolex took the same watch they had before and slapped a jubilee on it. So you can get on the 10 year waiting list

      Nico's just an obnoxious Rolex fanboy. Couldn't even see that objectively, Omegas are better built. Goes on and on about the history of Rolex, but shits on the history of other watch brands.
      Only reason he's around is because he basically came up with the "God Tier" Casio meme.

    Man, even sweep aside, the canvasses in these dials are just dead drop gorgeous. Not too in your face, and somehow also not too intricate yet managing to be infinitely interesting and sophisticatedly luxurious in the way they reveal the subtly different aspects of their textures and hues to the eye that is keen on looking. And that's not even considering the inspiration from Japanese nature attached to them.
    It's actually kind of astonishing that GS was the first in really doing this kind of stuff and yet somehow got the execution so extraordinarily right. These are pure and poetic class.

    I love it. The only thing powering the motion of the hands is a fully mechanical mainspring, gears, and glide wheel -- the quartz is only there to slow the motion to perfect time, and does so without any external power source. Purely magical.

    • @jayjayhooksch1
      @jayjayhooksch1 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No external power source, but the quartz is certainly helped by the programmable IC in every spring drive watch. The magic is kinda lost when you realize every one has a computer chip inside.

      Your people seem like awesome people who actually appreciate quality. Here in America, ppl only care about the name. Rolex has a massive following and brand image associated with it. GS still has the Seiko name attached to it. So much like with the NSX for Acura/Honda, ppl aren’t willing to pay for something that in their minds is “just a Seiko.” That’s the problem with America: often times you’ve lost before you even started competing because you don’t have a name

  • @mbcommandnerd

    This is the only watch in the world which can achieve a PERFECT SWEEP! Not one picosecond of stoppage. Just smooth, continuous movement all the way around the dial. Even the Bulova Precisionist can’t create a sweep this smooth! And it all comes down to the Spring Drive mechanism, which completely eliminates the balance wheel and escapement in favor of what Seiko calls the “Tri-Synchro Regulator.” That is essentially a tiny electric generator that powers a small quartz oscillator circuit. That quartz circuit then applies electromagnetic brakes to the generator’s flywheel to slow it down, ensuring that the second hand moves around the dial at the perfect speed. So not only does this look cool, it keeps 100% accurate time for at least a year-if not longer!

    • @conzmoleman
      @conzmoleman ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair the Bulova Precisionist (320 hz) doesn’t even sweep as smoothly as the Accutron (360hz). Not that the naked eye can tell the difference between any of them.

      While you're right about how it works, I don't believe it actually keeps "perfect" time--it keeps time that's mostly in line with any quartz movement. So, basically, plenty good enough for whatever you need. The movement does LOOK incredible, however.
      But the time keeping isn't as good as the 9f pure quartz movement, and certainly not as good as The Citizen/Chronomaster line.

    I’ve done a 360 on spring drive. I love these watches. Sure, they put out a lot of references and it gets mind boggling but to not appreciate what GS is doing is to not be looking. Teddy did a terrific review of spring drive engineering and technology. The bracelets get some criticism but the Zaratsu finishing, certain dials and the spring drive knock me out. I’ve owned Rolex, Tudor, JLC and others and plan on GS too.

    Just got the SLGA021 last April 7th from the Ginza boutique. The 9RA2 spring drive is so incredibly accurate. I had to change the time to account for timezone diference when i got back home, but it has been 10 days since and the watch has deviated 0 seconds currently 🤩
    I did find a "flaw" with my watch that i'm hoping if any other Evolution 9 owners can confirm. Does the crown on yours have a slight wiggle/wobble if it is in the unthreded position? I found that quite odd for this price range. But still not a deal breaker. ❤
