Jimmy Barnes is an Australian singer formerly with the rock group Cold Chisel (hmmm, that group might be worth a look). Joe Bonamassa is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. I think that, together, they are pure perfection. I'm just learning about them and I think I'm going to be taking a closer look at both of them to see what their solo careers are like.

Cold Chisel is definitely worth a look!!!! All amazing musicians, two lead singers and all the band members wrote songs (they have a really wide-ranging catalogue).
Have a listen to “Bow River” with Jimmy Barnes backing up Ian Moss on lead vocals. There is also a great harmonica rift through the performance. “the Chisels” were a great group. Grüße aus Australien. Tschüss.

The best soul voice alive today, Barnsey has knocked our socks off since the 1970’s. Have a look at A Change is Gonna Come or Many Rivers to Cross you’ll be in tears ! Also the acapella version of O Holy Night I put together myself- so beautiful and really shows his phenomenal range.
This has to be one of my favourite performances by Jimmy. His vocals combined by joes guitar skills take this to another level, this is what music is all about. You should check out Jimmy Barnes with his band Cold Chisel “bow river” and “when the war is over” live Ringside 2003

Jimmy is a legend...he's been singing since the 1970s, sings multiple genres (mainly rock), been in THE rock band, Cold Chisel, and has the most best selling albums in Australian history, plus he was a loose cannon when young...what is not to like?

Jimmy is clearly singing this song to his beloved wife of 40 years, Jane.
They met when he was at his worst in terms of his drinking and drug taking. He was downing a bottle of vodka during every Cold Chisel show. She turned him around, and he has managed to maintain a massive career because of her, and their kids.
I can’t imagine anyone trying to sing this song and being able to give it justice the way Jimmy does. This song works solely because of Jimmy’s vocals and passion. When I hear this song it takes me back to the 90’s when life was carefree and uncomplicated. I actually remember driving back to Sydney from Bright in Victoria in about 1987/1988 and we stopped at a servo somewhere in the southern highlands and seeing Jimmy filing up his car too. I remember thinking he wasn’t as tall as I had thought he would be.

This is when he's calm, you want to hear him rock out! Check the cover of "wild thing" he sang fronting the band "Cold Chisel" - live at the Last Stand concert series. Incredible power and captured the essence of the song - you'll never hear a better version, even though he was drunk as a skunk when they did it

Many, many years ago, VH1 was showing a program called 'My Top Ten': musical stars of the day talk about their top ten favourite tracks. Anyway, one time it was on and a guy goes, "When I'm in my dressing room getting my voice ready for the gig, I always play this song because this guy shows me how it's done." When Jimmy started singing, my wife and I came from different rooms with the same facial expression: mouths agog at his voice!

Joe Bonamassa is a very deep rabbit hole worth exploring because he partners with many great blues musicians from all over the world. He is a true guitar prodigy, learned to play guitar at a very young age and was performing professionally at age nine. At age twelve he toured and opened for the blues legend BB King during his summer vacation. He has so many great songs that I don't know where to start but like with many other great musicians he seems to feed off of the audience which makes his live performances even better than his studio stuff. Have you heard of Beth Hart? Beth and Joe did three albums together including their live in Amsterdam DVD. Their cover of Etta James' I'd Rather Go Blind is just as amazing as this song.

Jimmy is actually 67 years young, born on 28th April 1956, but probably in his 50's when he sung this tune. He was only 16 and a half when he started in Chisel. He has 50 years of music to review. He is my favourite artist ever ❤

Can I suggest "When the War is Over" by Cold Chisel Live Ringside in 2003? (Jimmy Barnes is one of two lead singers with the band. He duets with Ian Moss in it. They have contrasting voices that work spectacularly together.)
